Once he made sure Rayl had gone off to the safe zone, Leo was about to walk back to the hole where he planted the device, but suddenly paused his tracks. Spinning around to face Rayl, the strange artist then walks back up to her, surprisingly reached up his hand to the rim of the goggles she had strapped on her forehead, and pulled it down for her, so it would cover her eyes.
Nodding slightly to himself, Leo then turns around and walked back to the hole quickly, kneeling beside the hole and reaching his hand down inside it to activate it. Once he did, he slowly pulls his hand away from the hole, and stood up. The artist backs away very slowly and carefully, in order not to startle his device that would instantly blow up by the detecting movements around a certain radius around it.
But before he could escape, the detonation device suddenly exploded. The impact was so great, the ground rumbled slightly, and the energy could even be seen spewing out of the hole. Leo was knocked down to the ground by the force, and slammed on his spine too.
The impact lasts for at least 5 seconds, and once the ground stops quaking, the flaring energy from the hole disappeared. Leo heaved out a sigh, laying on the ground like that with his eyes gazing up to the sky, seeming pretty calm even after the whole incident.

Rayl was a bit surprised when de Piero held the googles and moved it down so it could cover her eyes from the future dust and dirt. She couldn't help it, but it seems that her face were hot; she tried to ignore the feeling but seems to be failing. She looked once again at de Piero who seems to started to activate the bomb device.
Her eyes widened when the device suddenly exploded, shielding her face from the explosion; she moved her arms in front of her and formed a crossed one to protect her face from the dusts. Her eyes with the used of googles can easily see what happen, though with the dust, Rayl was having a hard time.
Her knees were wobbly at the quaking of the earth, but once finished she stood up calmly; trying to sense where de Piero was. Since the dust is still visible around the area.
She took a step forward and tried to sense where the human being lies or stood from. "d-de Piero!" she called a bit louder, she tried to cover her nose with her palm because of the smog that still is in the area. She coughed a bit, not used of the smog particles that she breathes.
Once sensing de Piero near the hole, lying on the ground; she quickly went to him and suddenly kneel beside him. "Are you... okay?" she asked, worry filled her voice.

Even if the smoke filled the air, Leo didn't feel like gasping for fresh air at all. Since all the dust hovered in the higher part of the air, and since he's laying down, the dust didn't bothered him at all. Probably that's why he's so calm at the moment...
'So...I didn't die after all.. Just my luck.'
His half-closed eyes just gazed upwards, taking that only fact in, though...he surprised himself that he feels rather dissapointed at it. Just as he's about to close his eyes completely to calm his mind, he could hear footsteps running towards him. Cornering his eyes at the noise, he could see Rayl rushing near and kneels beside him.
Leo can't help but to arch his eyebrows in surprise at how she reacted right then and there. Comparing how cold she was when he first met her and how different her eyes looked at the moment. Though, he can't see her eyes clearly by the dust that already settles on the goggles she's wearing.
Pulling up his hand near her face, the lad just casually placed his hand on her cheek, and uses his thumb to wipe the dust on the goggles. Now that her eyes are clear to look at, he smiled slightly and let his hand fall. "Of course I'm okay," he stated monotonously. "I just found out that I possess incredible luck."
He chuckled, then tries to sit up by pushing himself up with his elbows. "Are you worried?" He asked blankly, managing to sit up, but quickly bent his arm backwards so that the back of his hand touches his hurting spine.

Rayl looked at him surprised as he leaned his palm on her cheek. Her heart beat faster, she don't know why but it did. She wanted to aid him to sit up, but he did managely. She looked down, why is she like this?
Worrying too much, it was unlikely her. She don't worry for anyone else. Since the start of living in their village and wandering in different places. All she care about was to live and not to die and not to be killed.
But her she was, worrying for the guy in front of her.
"Are you worried?"
She blinked owlishly at him and looked down, suddenly noticing that his hand is now touching his spine. "Y-You've hurt yourself..." she suddenly said out, blinking a bit. "Does that pain you?" she tried to change the topic, it is obvious to her. She was worried at him, because de Piero is the first human who seems to gain her trust. Making her also feel welcome, even if she was an assassin.

Leo tried to press the back of his hand against his back, in order to test if he hurts his spine, and according to how he winced, it does. Annoyed by the pain, the young artist then blows some strands of his hair away from his eyes, a habit of him when something vexed him.
"I just got myself smashed on the ground, right?" Turning to Rayl with his half-closed eyes, Leo asked monotonously. "Nah, it doesn't pain me at all," he answered the question sarcastically, annoyed by the pain.
Really, through the years he lived, he's quite familiar of his weak spots, and feeling pain is one of it. Leo can't stand pain, no matter how slight it is. Mentally he can handle, but physically...well, his body's just naturally weak to begin with. Maybe it's his lack of meat consuming, granted that he's a vegetarian. His endurance is just low like that...that's why this annoys him.
Though, after noticing Rayl acting so strangely and looking down quite often. That different glint in her eyes peaked his curiosity, and made him forget all about how his annoyance. In their first meeting, she scared the crap out of him, but now...well, its a totally different matter now that he spent some time with her. "I'm a mere human being. So yes, it hurts. A lot," he rephrased his answer with a warmer tone, and smiled.
"Do you remember all the outcomes I listed out earlier the moment we met?" Scratching the back of his head, Leo blinked the same way she did, only that his blue eyes are facing upwards instead of towards her. "Well, I kind of get the feeling that the third outcome is possible right now..." Pulling back his attention to Rayl, Leo smiled.
"So let me reintroduce myself...again." Raising his hand, he offered Rayl a handshake, that smile is still visible on his face. "Hi, I'm Leo de Piero, and I'm a human." Yes, the third outcome. Sure he admitted himself that he doesn't want any friends, but still. 'She isn't half bad.'
"Would you mind if I become your friend? ...A-and sorry I made you worry."

Rayl looked at him with those surprised look. A friend, a person whom she never thought she would ever gain. She looked down at the hand de Piero have offered. She accepted it with her hand, closing the spaced in their palms; her heart beats faster. She was a bit happy, gaining a friend; and a bit timid and conscious, because this guy in front of her would be the first friend she ever have.
"R-Rayl Enzan..." she let out, looking at him in the eyes. Her eyes shown a great happiness, still there is that looked of loneliness that is slowly fading.
"I-I do like..." she started then sighing a bit content. "to be your friend. I don't know why, but... I did worry..." she finished while looking at him.
"Leo-san," she said out, not used of calling someone with their first names; so she added a prefix.

Leo blinked continuously at her, then smiled, satisfied to see her starting to open up, and actually being honest to herself. Sensing this as an improvement of the cold girl beside him, Leo shakes his hand with her the moment she accepts it, and nodded. "Congratulations. Now you have a mad artisan as your friend."
After that, he pulls his hand back and was a bit surprised at what she now calls him by. "Leo...san..?" And there was another round of eye-blinking from the artist. That pause of him lasted for a while, until he suddenly burst out into a fit of chuckles. "No need to be so formal, Rayl. ..See? I called you like a friend would." He said, but then again, those eyes of her just kept hinting clues to him. "B-but if you're not used to it, then I don't mind."
He knows those eyes. No matter how hard it is for him to try and ignore these things, his insightful nature is just so hard for him to simply wave off. He can easily (but unwantedly) read people by just scrutinizing their eyes, but he never admits it, and calls this ability of him by mere'lucky guesses'. Looking back at Rayl, he's guessing that she never have any friends before...according to how she reacts with his offer.
"After I get to know you more, I'm going to teach you how to smile next," Leo nodded, truly wanting this girl to enjoy the life she has and be true to herself. Finally...a reason for him to go on with his day without wandering aimlessly for once. "Okay. Now let's go see what kind of thing I just exploded to smithereens," he changed the subject, with his signature sarcastic tone.

Rayl just nodded a bit, thinking of nothing to add or to start anything. She stood up then looked at Leo who still sitting on the ground. She offered her hand for him to take. "A-are you sure... you're okay?" she asked worriedly, worried at the guy in front of her.
She somewhat look at the hole, the smogs are starting to disappear now. "The smogs are closely clearing..." she uttered out, looking away at him; yet she still offered her hand.

Leo just stared at a moment of the hand Rayl offered as soon as she gets up. Truthfully, all his life when he got knocked down, nobody offered him a hand. Just some kicks and stomps, for all he knows. So, without wasting more time, he takes her hand and stands up.
"Thanks," he said, before dusting his clothes and stretched his back slightly. After that, he moved towards the fading smoke, now able to spot where the hole is. When he gets close enough, the artist then kneels beside the hole, clutch a piece of black rock-hard sand at the edge of the hole to hold himself from falling in, and stretches his other hand inside the hole, trying to dig his way manually.
"What the?"
His left hand was stained black after digging in that hole, now he could see after pulling up his hand. But what surprised him is the little gift his hand is clutching.
"A skull...?" A deep black skull apparently, and it looks like it almost cracked open by the blast. The artist looks around the skull, sharply staring right towards the two eye sockets and gasped slightly. Creasing his eyebrows, Leo then smashed the skull on the level ground beside him, cracking it open to half.
"Well, would you look at that..." Gems scattered around the place, shining and glittering beneath the sun's rays as soon as the smoke clears out completely. Leo stared at them unenthusiastically, turns to Rayl, then back to hole. ".....Where's my ore?" he asked to no one, only to express his disappointment.
Scooting his way back to the hole, he dig his hand inside it again, really truly wants his desired ore. And leaves the priceless gems out in the sun like that as if it doesn't worth a cent to him...

Rayl noticed the precious and seems to be a priceless gems that has been ignored by Leo. She tilted her head to the side and blinked at him confusedly. "Won't those gems be enough to by the ores you wanted?" she blurted out, feeling a confused at why Leo seems to be disappointed. Is it because that the ore is way to important those those priceless gems?
She went beside Leo and kneel on the ground, facing the hole; she as well digged the dirt. Trying to help him in any matter. Because that what's friends do, right?

"If I do that, then I won't know if the ores I'm buying is genuine or not," Leo responded to her question. While they're already standing on the mine, it's better to just look for the ores themselves, since they had already dug the soil and even explode some skulls on the way.
Leo was so absorbed in digging that hole, he didn't even take notice that Rayl had come over to help him on that. It's until his hand at the hole suddenly touched another hand that he sort of jumped a bit in surprise. "R-Rayl, ah. You startled me. O-oh, you don't need to help me on this, it'll make your hand dirt--"
His sentence was cut off when the artist suddenly lost his balance, and his body sort of slanted to the front a bit. He swore he could see himself falling in that hole with his feet sticking out of it, but then again, his palm slipped deeper and had pressed something solid down there that neutralized his balance back, though now his whole arm are inside the hole.
"...Okay. Something hard is in there. And...yeah... This position is..REALLY hurting my spine now.."

Rayl looked at him abit startled as both of their hands touched slightly. She just ignore him and continue to digged. Until Leo suddenly lost his balance.
She blinked owlishly as she somewhat aided the guy, moving him up in a comfortable way by bringing him back to where he was.
"Are you alright now?" she uttered out as she then looked down at the hole. "Are you sure you don't need to go to some clinic or hospital to checked up on that spine of yours?"

At the moment when Rayl pulled him out, Leo had taken the change to grab a piece of that hard object he just touched, and pulled it out with him. He sat on the ground once his weight was pulled back, and stays there very still, in order not to further harm his spine.
"A clinic or a hospital is like my second home. I'll be right there after I'm done over here, thanks," the artist responded, swiveling the hand-size object he managed to pull from the hole and look around it. "Finally. We found it." He stated with a relieving sigh, when detecting that thing he holds in his hand is actually a piece of copper ore.
Now he's sure that this place is rich with ores. Obtaining at least a piece means that there is bound to be a whole mass of it scattered all over the area, and this fact satisfies him. He can come back anytime and dig whenever he want if that's the case.
"Hey Rayl, I never had the chance to ask you. Why did you come here in the first place, anyway?"

Rayl was a bit happy that Leo have found the ore he was looking for. Note: a bit. She looked at him as she saw the relief in his eyes. She blinked for awhile when she heard him asked of why he was here.
Oh right, why was she here anyway? She blinked owlishly and think about an answer. She shrugged her shoulders as she suddenly stood up. "Hmm... just plain wandering and looking for something useful in my weapons..." she uttered out, answering his question, truly.

'I kind of forgot I have an assassin as a friend here,' Leo scratched his head, blinking up at her unusual answer. Sometimes, it's really hard to kept reminding himself of the things he's been to are dangerous, or trusting a friend that has killed many souls. Fortunately, Leo doesn't care if she ended up stabbing him on the back or something.
Just as he's about to push himself up to stand on his feet, something small and thin suddenly swooshed right above his arm and stabbed itself on the ground, barely hitting his leg. It took Leo quite a bit of time to register that thing that almost nailed his feet to the ground is an arrow.
Blinking at that thing, the artist then looks up above the mine crater to see where it came from, and indeed so a figure there handling a bow, with quite a lot of men behind. His mind is gearing its way to the possibilities on why this happens, and then found himself staring at the gems he found earlier.
"...Rayl, I think those gems are theirs, and assuming they have buried a mass of them here, they thought we stole the rest of it," he stated calmly, not even bothered by the arrow in between his legs but only looked over his arm that was almost sliced by the thing. There was a slight cut there on his arm, and the fabric of his shirt is torn off a bit at where the cut is.
