Leo could only sigh at these two upbeat characters. No matter where he stands, he always felt like the odd one out with his lethargy. So as these two were talking, Leo scanned the secret menu Duo had uncovered.
"You even have borscht..?" Leo blinked at the Russian dish available in the menu. Reading more into the menu, his eyes widened slightly at a familiar dish he preferred. "I'll have this, a bowl of minestrone. Along with a loaf of wholemeal bread, if you serve it."
Looking up to the waiter, Leo sounded content. "Any organic fruit smoothie is great, thank you." He nodded to Duo before closing his menu. Leo is quite particular about eating, he always eat in small amounts, thus he never really ordered much when going out to eat.

"Perfect!" Duo exclaimed once he's done writing the lady's orders. He nodded at the lady accepting his ice cream offer and smiled widely at her, "Yes, very good. We even use coconut extract to process our ice creams, so our customers, women especially, would get the benefit of having high fertility rates."
Duo shot the most innocent little grin to his lovely female customer as he stated such a fact. "Would you like avocados with that? Some fresh nuts could help out to increase the chance of being pregnant too~" And that is when he winked again with a not-so-modest chuckle. Before he could continue his next awful pickup line, the male customer spoke up his order.
"What's that? Minestrone? Alright, good choice, sir." Writing whatever else that the customer had ordered, Duo nodded and finally pressed a dot on his note. "Wonderful. I'll be back with your orders shortly." He nodded to the both of them and starts collecting their menus with a smile.

Kyori's excitedly happy smile remained on her face as her interaction with the waiter went on until, that is, he commented on fertility. Kyori's face suddenly froze and then her eyes opened wide and her face turned into that of utter shock as he went on.
"W...WHAT?!" She exclaimed suddenly in total shock at his comments on fertility and increasing the chance of being pregnant. "N.n.n.no. I don't need those kinds of things! I haven't even thought about such things!" Kyori began ranting as her face slowly turned a boiling red. "I don't even have someone! I'm still too young! I've never even kissed anyone! Much less--AGH"
Kyori slapped both her hands at the sides of her face and lowered her head towards the table, trying to calm herself from the sudden shock just then. As she did so, she began to think of him again and her expression slowly fell as she lowered her head even more to hide her slowly building depressed look.

Leo is honestly just as surprised as Kyori of the waiter's bold statement regarding fertility to a female customer like this. Though of course, he wasn't as disturbed as Kyori to let out his voice of the matter.
At the redhead's exclamation, Leo winced a bit in his seat at the sudden loud noise. He turned to look at Kyori with an equally horrified expression and watched as she shriveled in embarrassment and finally hides her face in her hands. Gently reaching out to pat her on the shoulder in an attempt to calm her down, Leo then turned to the waiter with a frown.
"Sir. That was uncalled for, you need not go that far in teasing a lady. I ask that you apologize to her." His voice is faint and soft, but also sounded rather demanding and sharp if one could see his expression.

Duo's grin grows bigger and wider at the color that's beginning to flush the lady's face. This is exactly the reaction that he wishes to see, and he's successful in it. Chuckling at her exclamation and stuttering rants, Duo kept his eyes still onto the girl with that same boyish grin before she slapped her hands on her face.
"Ahahahahah. My apologies, I couldn't help it." He nodded in slight shame at Leo calling him out to apologize. "I'm truly very sorry miss, I was just teasing you. I'll give you an extra scoop of ice cream with mangoes as an apology." Duo told her still with an amused chuckle, but seeing her shoulders dropped more and more, his grin drops down.
"Um...miss? I'm... I'm really truly sorry that I offended you.." Duo spoke with an obvious amount of guilt in his voice. "Are you alright..?"

Kyori's eyes closed partway as she looked down, hiding her face by keeping it low to the table with her hands still at the sides. Remi... She thought as her breathing slowed and she closed her eyes. Though her mind was elsewhere, she could hear Leo asking Duo to apologize and heard his apology. Still, she was lost in her memories as she seemed to sink a little lower.
As she heard Duo speaking with more guilt and asking if she's alright, Kyori knew right then that her emotions were slipping out into view. She quickly started pushing her thoughts aside and slowly took in a deep breath as she opened her eyes. She then forced a small but cheery looking smile back on her face and sat up again, smiling at Duo.
"It's okay... I'm fine. Thanks." She said with a smile, trying seriously to forget what had previously taken over her mind. Thoughts of him always brought out a sadness and desire she desperately kept trying to hide and forget about. She had no idea where he was or if she would ever see him again, so the uncertainty of it all made her want to just forget about her feelings. She sat there with a smile facing the waiter, just hoping that he would go off to put in their orders instead of asking any more questions.

Duo watches her movements cautiously. He was half-expecting a slap on the face or at least a glare from her, so seeng a smile on her face as she pulled herself back up made Duo stepped back a bit.
"Um..." He blinked, now unsure of what to say, but the burning glower that he could feel from the dude who's sitting beside her forced him to open his mouth. "I'm..really sorry, miss." He bowed his head to her worriedly before backing away from their table.
Duo's usually not that willing to leave a grieving lady like that, but he does understand that people need their space. He'll return later to enforce his apology to her.

Leo could practically see how his companion is sinking lower and lower in her seat since he's right next to her. He honestly couldn't stand the sight that he immediately turned to look at the waiter disapprovingly.
Once Kyori had lifted her head back up and ensuring the waiter that she's fine, Leo reverted his attention back to her now. The waiter had left after a moment, and Leo faces away from her, staring down at the table now.
"You alright..?" he questioned, despite still staring at the table. "I'm not sure what happened, but I hope whatever's bothering you settles itself soon." Leo's not particularly a person who pries a lot in other people's business, but he doesn't find it pleasant when someone is obviously distressed about it.
"Somehow I have a feeling that waiter would try to pry it out of you soon out of guilt." The artist glanced at Kyori with a shrug. "It's best if you just smack him across the face if he does."

Kyori was usually good at lying and pretending. When she realized her forced smile felt a little tense, she slowly relaxed herself into it to appear more and more genuine. "It's okay~", she replied to the waiter after he apologized and began to back away.
She turned to smile at Leo as he asked if she was alright. "I'm fine. It's okay." She said, saying it as much for herself as she was for him as her body slowly relaxed into her preferred state and chuckled slightly. "It's nothing, I was caught off-guard is all. I'm fine."
She felt her smile tense again slightly as Leo mentioned the waiter might try to pry out of her what had bothered her. She then relaxed again and laughed when he told her to just smack him across the face. Feeling mischievous at that, Kyori pulled out her knife and twirled it a bit to show off with a mischievous grin. "I could always steal his long braid~"

Still eyeing the table in front of him, Leo nods blankly at it when Kyori assured him that she's fine. It's very much true to her character (at least assumed that's her character in his head) to quickly shrug off an issue like this. "I'd like to think anybody would be caught off-guard by such an insensitive topic." The artist heaved off a disappointed sigh from his nostrils.
While still facing to the front, only his eyes cornered to look at the knife she pulled out. "Kyori, while that is the correct thing to do, I do not think that you should," he responded with a lift of his eyebrow, unable to pick up her joking tone.
It was until he notices her impish grin that Leo realized she's just saying it, not really intending to do it. At this, he smiles a bit, willing to humor her on the idea. "And what would you do with a long braid, exactly?"
The artist looks over at the waiter earlier walking off like a puppy who's just been screamed at. With the waiter's back turned to them, they could both see how long the said braid is. "Honestly, I've never seen anyone with hair that long before. I wonder what's his story."
While Leo could easily make up random life stories in his head of people he meets, and most of the time it being correct with how observantly keen he is, he doesn't want to due to his bad impression of the waiter now after his rather indecent remark.

"Haha, yeah", Kyori chuckled awkwardly in agreement of Leo's statement. It would almost be strange if someone wasn't caught off-guard when such topics are suddenly brought up, especially by strangers.
Kyori laughed out loud at Leo's oblviousness in response to her mischievous joke. "I'm joking~ I'm not that mean~", she said as she laughed a bit quieter and put away her knife.
"Hmmm`" Kyori thought, amused at the question of what she would do with a stolen braid as she put her elbows on the table and rested her chin atop her now clasped hands. "I could hang it like a trophy~ Or buy a voodoo doll~" She chuckled mischievously while considering the voodoo doll. "Protect future women from embarassment by poking the doll whenever he starts to say something weird."
"Hm?" Kyori tilted her head still resting on her hands so she could look over at the waiter as Leo contemplated his story. She smiled impishly again. "Maybe his hair is the source of his strength, and cutting it would mean reducing him to a state of complete weakness~ OR maybe he's hiding something living in it! Like a snake!" She chuckled again at the absurdity of the thought, leaning back in her seat a bit as her arms came off the table again, pulling into her body a bit while laughing.

Leo's mouth were closed in a smile but the sound of his light chuckles escaped through his nose, imagining the mental image of Kyori holding the long braid of the waiter like she caught a giant fish. His shoulders start jerking as he laughs more when she mentions she would curse a voodoo doll in his likeness to protect future women. "I'd support your conscientious decision."
He's glad to see that Kyori had snapped out of the awkward embarrassment caused by the waiter. The artist wouldn't know what to do if she remains that way, thus he's thankful she can bounce up so quickly.
Leo turns his head to face Kyori in amusement once she states that the waiter's hair might be the source of his strength, and jovially cried that it could be sentient. At this, the artist brings a fist up to his lips in a vain attempt to contain his laughter.
"Kyori..." He wheezed, finally taking control of himself. "If that is the case, then perhaps our encounter with the snake earlier was foretold. It was his hair all along." He heaves off a sigh, not used to laughing this much. The topic of snakes makes him recall their earlier brush with it. He noticed Kyori twirled out a knife in her hand too at the time.
"Are you adept with your knife?" He suddenly asked, his tone sounded light rather than interrogatory. "By your hold of it, it seems you use it for emergencies, or simple utility." Leo drags his bag closer to him to find something within. After a moment, he pulls out some kind of flat rectangular stone. "This is a whetsone I mined recently from the Iron Maw. I managed to ask the blacksmith to cut it for me for ease of travel." He then puts the whetstone on the table and looks over at Kyori. "If you'd like, I can sharpen your knife for you."
It is a strange gesture to offer, especially for strangers. Once Leo realizes his actions could cause confusion upon his dinner partner, he amends by explaining. "I have a lot of tools for art."

Kyori giggled along with Leo, happy that he was amused by her jokes. She giggled a little more as he said he'd support her in her idea of the voodoo doll.
Kyori was happy to see Leo with his hand covering his face as if attempting to not break into laughter. When he stated that the snake in the grass was his hair all along, Kyori burst into even more giggles.
"Hm? Kyori's laughter suddenly interrupted as though she wasn't just in a fit before in response to Leo questioning her skills with her knife. "Ahhh.. Growing up, I had older siblings teach me how to use it for various things so I could protect myself." Her smile was a bit smaller than before when talking about her adopted family, though she still seemed relaxed, as though it was casual conversation.
She looked at the stone he produced from his bag suddenly, then looked back at him as he explained what he could do with it. She seemed a bit surprised as she asked "Really? You can do that?" to his offer of sharpening her knife for her. She was taught more about defending herself from various threats rather than maintenance.
Kyori tilted her head slightly with one eyebrow raised as he mentioned his art tools. "You can use the same thing for knives and art tools?" She asked, not really knowing much about art.

"Mmn," Leo nods distractedly as Kyori revealed a small window into her life. "It's good that you have reliable people in your formative years." The way he said it sounds like an off-handed comment, as if it's something he would shrug off the moment this specific topic ends, but Leo has already compartmentalized this information in his head for later discussion, if the topic brings itself up again.
The artist smiles over at Kyori once she shows interest in the whetstone he exhibited as well as his intention to sharpen her weapon. The smile grows into a chuckle as she asked about his own tools. "Yes, they're made from the same thing, so they can be sharpened with the same stone."
Leo then brings out a wrapped piece of thick clothing. Unfurling it spreads an assemble of different tools, each looked like it's seen better days with dried paint marks and bits of wear here and there.
He picks up a particular one that looks like a thin spatula of sorts. "This is called a painting knife. Look at this part here. See this tiny chip at this side?" Leo points to a particular part of the blade, but the nicked part can barely be seen with how much dried paint is on it.
He reads her confused expression and asks her to hold it for him shortly. After giving the painting knife to Kyori, Leo tries to find a bottle of thinner in his larger-than-life bag. He pulls out a thin glass container with a droplet snout with a happy ('Aha!') sound, then proceeds to carefully drop some of the diluted chemical on the blade while Kyori is still holding it.
Without a word, he pulls out a small rag of cloth from inside his jacket in practiced movement, then simply wipes the tool. The paint comes off almost completely, and indeed there is a barely visible nick there.
Leo then asks for his tool back from Kyori to show how he sharpens it. "It's very frustrating when a tool doesn't work as I want it to, especially in emergencies." He holds the blade of the painting knife gently but firmly over the whetstone, making sure the chipped part is against the stone itself. "It's normally better to periodically wet the stone during the sharpening process, but since my tool only needs a tiny bit of sharpening..."
He stops explaining as he focuses on his actions. He presses his thumb against on what seems to be the spine of the blade and places the edge of the knife on the stone. He's holding the handle with his dominant hand, on his left, with a firm grip. Slowly and steadily, he starts pulling the edge of the knife against the stone. He kept a consistent angle and constant pressure throughout the process, repeating it a total of 3 times.
After he's done, the artist pulls himself back from hunching on the table and raises his knife to the light. "Mmn. Good." He said to himself after examining the edge. Leo shows it to Kyori after that, proud that the tiny chip is smooth and sharp now.
"Let me see your knife. I may need to soak the whetstone in water first, so I'll ask the waiter for a bowl of water after he comes back with our meals." Leo's expression visibly tires out at the thought of the waiter. "If he does that to you again, please threaten his hair."

Kyori's smile faltered a little more as Leo referred to the siblings she mentioned as reliable. She then let out a small chuckle and smiled a bit more again. "Yeah" She said a bit unconvincingly.
Kyori was glad the topic had switched to anything else, so she listened intently. "Oh... cool." As she watched Leo reveal his art tools, she was surprised at what those tools actually looked like. She gave a singular chuckle. "Wow. So it's not just paintbrushes? How do you even paint with these things?" She asked as she picked up one of the metal tools to look at it and held it up as though gesturing to it as she looked back at Leo.
Kyori watched as he picked up another tool to explain them to her. When he pointed to a chip in the painting knife, Kyori leaned forward, trying to see it as she mindlessly put the tool she was holding back on the table. She squinted, trying to see beyond the sheer amount of paint covering the thing.
She leaned back a bit suddenly as he handed it off to her and she held it while he started rummaging through his bag. Her body went kind of stiff as he started cleaning the tool while she was still holding it, a bit surprised at his mannerisms. When the painting knife is suddenly clear of paint, Kyori's eyes widened. "Wow! That stuff's like magic!" She said and grinned again with a small chuckle. "Oh, now I see it." She said as she looked closely at the tool again, then handed it back to Leo when he asked.
Kyori laughed suddenly when Leo mentioned emergencies. "You have painting emergencies?" She laughed at the thought, not really understanding much about how painting works. When he started using the strange stone, Kyori watched what he was doing, not really sure how it's supposed to fix a chip in the metal. When he showed her the finished product, Kyori's eyes widened again. "What?! It's gone!" She said in surprise, not having really witnessed much weapon maintentance in the past.
Kyori pulled out her knife again and, somewhat reluctantly, handed it over. She'd never really just given her knife to a stranger before, but she was really curious what it would look like when he was done with it. The edges were chipped and dulled, though still sharp enough to cut through things. It could especially still do damage to anything living. It just might take a bit extra time to cut through something like overgrowth in a forest than a sharp knife could. It was barely used apart from small bits of what was probably green stains from grasses and a few red stains from small animals when she was desperate for something to eat.
Kyori barely heard him talk about maybe needing water to fix her knife as she stared at her only source of protection that she'd just passed over to someone else. It really dawned on her a feeling of fear she didn't realize she had at the thought of not having the knife directly on her body in a place with other people. She'd never really needed to defend herself much before against people, but she'd always grown up aware of the danger other people could pose if she didn't have protection.
When Leo's voice paused, Kyori finally tore her eyes away from her knife and looked back up at him in time for him to mention threatening the waiter's hair if he made her feel uncomfortable again. At that, Kyori suddenly chuckled again, grinning. "It'll make a nice pet, I think~" She joked back in response as though nothing was wrong a moment ago.
