Syani stood there, dumbfounded, sheltered by the snow slightly as she's standing right under a tall broad ice tree. She's cold, she's shivering, and she's only wearing her dark purple thin dress.
...A self-transportation gone wrong, obviously.
The half-vampire twitched, feeling lost already. She sighed through her mouth, her water vapor escaping her mouth is even clear for her to see. She can transport herself back out easily...but she needs time to recover back her lost energy due to her transportation to THIS unknown place.
"Gah... So much for making a map.." Materializing her red cloak around her, Syani smiled by the slight warmth and started walking deeper into the ice forest. Her aim to even transport herself to places she herself has no ideas of.
...Even the danger that's lurking right towards her right now.
Syani turned around, her large cloak swished to her back. She swore she heard a growl of sorts...maybe a wild animal. The half-vampire scanner around, trying to see through the white snow-covered soil...and right behind one of the ice trees...is a pair of beady sharp eyes... A wild wolf.
"...Crap."

Kaekeru had gone into the mountain to train and feed on animals for a while instead of humans. He had been staying on Yuki Mori for over six months now and felt colder than usual on this particular day, almost as though he could sense something was coming. His more developed threat sensors were beginning to overpower his rational thinking and emotions, almost like that of a savage beast instead of a calculating vampire.
While he was walking across the icy mountain on the shadowed side, still covered by his white cloak, he suddenly picked up a peculiar though almost familiar smell, like it came up just out of the blue. He turned in the direction it was coming from and darted off to find the source, speeding past the trees and creatures towards this one smell.
As soon as he was able to see her from the distance he was at, he had a flash of recognition and slowed a bit. Immediately after he noticed the wolf staring her down and he picked up his speed even more.
Jumping onto the wolf from behind, Kaekeru tackled it to the ground, wrestling it for a moment in a fit of growls until he bit into it and drained it of its life force.
After killing the wolf, Kaekeru released it, his body heaving somewhat almost in a sort of frenzy. He could smell the human part of her blood and he wanted it. He writhed a bit on the ground, curling himself up and then pushing himself back, squatting on his legs but placing his hands on the cold ground still, almost like an animal ready to pounce.
He looked in her direction, staring with wild and crazed eyes. They were almost red but not quite, there was a blackened quality to it; unlike the piercing red, this was more dark and dull though still red nonetheless.
his body heaved as though he was breathing heavily while staring. Quietly a word slipped out, a word he thought he would never say again... "Syani..."

Syani stood frozen like the ice tree beside her as she eyed the wolf warily, trying to slip her hand inside her cloak to pull out a random potion as slowly and carefully as she can. She also tried to calm her breathing, suddenly remembering some book she read that dogs could detect a person's fear...so she's guessing this wolf could too.
Just then, someone could be seen speeding towards them, and rammed himself right onto the wolf. The half-vampire could feel her eye sockets widening to its fullest extent at that unexpected encounter. She can't see who it was at first, as the struggle with the wolf blocks her view of this odd man's face.
Well, until she could see he's sucking the wolf's blood.
Syani immediately jumped backwards by the shock, already backing away and planning to run off as quickly as she can, but then again...half of herself wanted to stay and see who that person is...and a small part of herself actually guessed it was someone she knows...
And that gut feeling was right.
"Kae..." Her voice trailed off into a whisper before she could even finish calling his name. The half-vampire isn't even sure if that IS his name anymore, because he didn't seem like the Kaekeru she knows. It's been a year and a half since she last saw him. He suddenly disappeared before the school year even ends, and she never know what became of him.
So now, he suddenly appeared like the now falling snow in this place. Syani can't say if this is frightening her, nor relieving her. Especially when his eyes are like that. "Kae...keru..." The raven-haired braved herself to take one cautious step towards the vampire, wanting to know more than anything on what exactly happened to him.

The scent inside her was delicious. So when she took a step towards him, he quickly moved back a bit to the side of the tree. A sort of snarl fixed itself on his face, though a hint in his eyes showed fear. Fear that he might hurt her if she got too close.
He knew her. Despite the torture on his brain, he knew this woman. He knew her name. He knew this feeling keeping him from sucking her dry.
He raised a hand and cupped it over his nose and mouth, almost glaring at her because of the smell. He was torn by a desire to feed on her and just to be close to her.
"Syani...." He uttered quietly as he moved his hand back down, grabbed onto the tree and forced himself to stand up. As soon as he did, he took the hand closest to the tree and straightened all his fingers so his claw-like nails almost made a sort of blade. He then stabbed his hand deep into the ice tree until he reached the center. There, he made a fist to lock his hand in place. It wouldn't keep him there if he used his full strength but he figured it would at least temporarily keep his mind steady and remind him to be calm. He didn't want to run away so soon.

Syani sort of quailed when she could see those eyes of his. She knows something bad happened the moment when Kaekeru has gone missing, but she thought he's strong enough to be unharm by anything... Or at least, she wishes to believe that to keep her from worrying.
But then again...a small part of herself even decided to give a try on transportation without using any potions is because to search for him. Just to make sure he's still alright, at least. And the sole condition of Kaekeru right in front of her eyes almost moved her to tears..
"I'm sorry!!!" The half-vampire pushed herself into a bow, her black hair covering her teary eyes and rosy-cheeks as she did. "I'm...I'm really truly sorry..." He's in pain, and there's a reason he vanished. Yet, she's being selfish of her own feelings that she didn't stop to consider his. Maybe she's not supposed to find him, maybe he didn't want to meet her, maybe he's in pain because of her.
Taking a deep inhale, Syani falls completely on the snowy ground without even looking up towards him, and sat there with her legs bent backwards. Her long hair touched the snow as she kept her head low, trying to keep her breath controlled...and try to not shatter in front of him like this.
Pulling up her head to face him, her lips was fixed in a wide smile - a classic Syani trait. Her cheeks are pink, and her eyes looked almost ready to burst into tears. But being Syani, she would never let any tears escape. Instead, she slowly opens her mouth, and try her best to say without any broken tone...
"A-are you finally mad at me?"

Kaekeru's eyes widened as she seemed about to cry and apologized to him. He watched almost in his own sort of horror as she dropped to the ground, wanting to catch her and hold her, and as she seemd about to cry yet still forced a smile.
"Syani...." He began quietly. "Never..... I love you..... This was..... my fault...." He finished, having not fully spoken a sentence since sometime during his torture from the Kumo clan. He hung his head where he stood, wanting to drop to the ground as well but his arm in the tree held him up and reminded him to hold on.
He looked over at her, his memories coming back, though each being bashed with a memory of his torture. The constant back and forth made his appearance continuously change between a vicious blood sucker and a man recalling his love. He raised his other hand and grabbed his head with it, squeezing tight as he tried to push away the bad memories, though unsuccessful.

Syani looks up to him from her sitting position, her smile fading and her eyes widening. He sounded like the Kaekeru she knows at first, but then his eyes changed again...and it kept on changing, like he's fighting something inside him..
"Kae--" She held her voice back as she started to sob. Seeing someone she deeply cares about being so frightening like that, being so in pain...and she is unable to do anything to help him..that feeling is undescribable. She didn't even know if she should stay or run, to assist or to let him be in his own battle, to decide what is right and dangerous, or wrong and safe. 'Why does he always takes everything alone?!'
"Kaekeru, PLEASE!" Pulling herself down till her forehead touched the snow, Syani pressed her palms into the snow, bowing..almost like begging to him. "You're in pain, and it's even more painful to see you like this while I can't do anything!" From crouching on the ground, the half vampire pushed herself up on her feet, clearly glaring at him but held a sort of sadness within them.
"I don't know what happened to you, so I demand you to PLEASE explain to me." She said with such a tone, it didn't fit how sad she looked at all. Syani knows more not to be like this, especially when Kaekeru seems so critical at the moment, but...
"I beg of you, Kae-kun. Please don't endure this pain alone, and just once allow me to HELP you! Tell me what to do! Just don't..." Her tone dropped suddenly, so is her glare. "Just don't leave me alone all over again..please."

Kaekeru moved his hand down and looked at her... Looked into her eyes as she attempted to glare at him through her sadness. He watched her as she spoke to him, trying to be forecul. As she finished, his eyes held a mass of guilt and remorse, thinking how he should have been able to go back to her. Then a flash of anger spread across his face. A furious mass of anger. He clenched his fists, the one encased in the ice tree reminding him not to lose it now. He looked towards the tree with a glare of hatred.
"I... Would never have left you on purpose..." He uttered quietly, trying to keep his voice from showing the full extent of his anger, though the glare at the tree intensified until he closed his eyes and pressed his forehead against the ice. He slouched his body forward a bit as he kept his head against the ice, calming himself down. "They stole me away..." He said quietly after a while. He clenched his fists tightly again to keep from smashing the tree in pieces instead and freeing himself.
"They changed me...." He said in a dark tone, lifting his head a bit and glaring at the tree. "I cannot tell you what happened..." His glare grew more intense again as he watched the tree, not wanting to look at her in this way.

Syani's eyebrows stopped creasing as he finally revealed on what happened to him all this time. "They..?" She was a bit clueless at first on what he meant, but after much thinking, she can't remember anyone besides the Kumos who wanted him so badly.
As that realization hits her, the half-vampire's jaw hang loose slightly, shaping up her lips into a perfect 'o'. "What..?" She said, barely audible, but enough to form a cloud of vapour out of her mouth. Her eyes are blank, recalling back those times when two of the Kumos appeared. She also tried to imagine what sort of horrible things they did to Kaekeru, and at that, her glassy eyes finally released a small tear..
Syani quickly brushed that rolling tear away, refusing to be weak now. Kaekeru is the one who's hurt at the moment, so she feels that it's her responsibility to try and help him...at least a little. After knowing the truth behind his dissappearance is the Kumo's doing, Syani straightens up her neck and corners her eyes, clenching her jaw tight, pissed. She could still remember how horrid they are according to how Kaekeru described them, but she never expected them to be this vile.. She tries to reason herself out of this anger, but well.. 'Of course this pisses me off, those scums bullied MY Kae-kun's sanity! It's a good reason to be angry!'
Syani wanted to smack her inner self for claiming him as hers like that so childishly, now questioning if she could ever be serious and mature. Shaking her head, the black-haired then turns her attention back to Kaekeru, now noticing he's watching the ice tree instead of her, and according to how he clenched his fist, it's not too hard to tell.
"I'll help." Syani finally spoke up. Before, it's always her that needs rescue, but now it's her turn to try and be the rescuer. "I'll change you back. I'll make you remember. I'll save you from this state. ..I promise."
She said it with so much assurance, it made her spirited to even crack an untimely joke. "And stop glaring at the poor tree, you can try that to me now. I'm not afraid of you anymore, you taught me not to months ago..remember?"
Syani smiled and winked, her light easy-going aura is back in the atmosphere...with a new resolution after her map-making idea. To help Kaekeru as best as she's able to. And everybody knows that Syani won't ever give up once rhe sets something in her head, no matter how inhumanely crazy it is.

Kaekeru's eyes looked over to her as his face remained towards the tree. He saw her smile and wink at him after her little joke then looked at the tree again, his glare remaining. He wanted to break it and set himself free, remembering all those times he had remained fighting the locks that held him down. His body began to heave again as he thought of it, his eyes darkening with a spark of red as he seemed to grow more vicious every second at the thought.
He yanked his fist out of the tree then punched it, smashing it to pieces. Then a wiff of her scent caught his nose again and he quickly leaped over to her, knocking her down so he was on top of her, about to bite her. His mouth was open revealing his fangs as he stared at her neck. Something was holding him back still, though he craved the thought of going in for the kill. He growled intensely, though it was really towards himself, as he watched her reactions to his sudden attack.
He held himself in that frozen position on top of her, not daring to move for fear of losing it and killing her. He appeared to breath heavily still as his eyes locked themselves on hers. He clenched his jaw tightly and closed his mouth, his eyes in an intense glare though he was not angry at her but at himself and his former partner clan.

Syani had to cover herself from the ice shards the moment Kaekeru smashed the ice tree to pieces, hoping none would cut her. If it did, then it would be extremely unfortunate, since the situation now is NOT good. What's more, the sight of the vampire leaping up towards her made her think some pieces of the tree might have cut her. But she didn't run. Mostly because she's not fast enough and she could only manage to squint her eyes, but mainly because she doesn't want to. She wants to help him.
Falling on the snow, Syani fluttered her eyes open, finding herself staring at Kaekeru's fangs. The half-vampire sort of silently glared at him too, focusing onto his eyes now, as if daring him to bite her. Her glare subsides the moment he closed his mouth, and she actually smiled a bit by it, content that he's able to hold himself back at least slightly.
Half of herself wanted to hold him by the cheek, hoping that would calm him down, and her hand is already mid-way to do so, but his eyes somehow forbid her to. As if it's not going to help. But then again, she found her hand accidentally touching Kaekeru's neck slightly, and the texture made her pulled her hand back automatically.
"You're so...cold..." The half-vampire muttered, now braving herself to touch his face. His skin is freezing, like metal inside a freezer. It didn't take long for Syani to notice something out of place.
"Kaekeru... Where's your necklace...?"

Kaekeru watched Syani carefully, forcing himself to remain still so as not to lose it and harm her. The feel of her hand against his neck made him instantly freeze even more, his muscles tensed to their limit and he didn't dare even make the motion of breathing.
He listened to her voice, not daring to utter a sound back but instead glared in response at the mention of his family's bloodstone. Kumo had removed it, removed his identity and status, removed his name. He kept his eyes on hers, not allowing himself to blink for fear that closing his eyes for a moment might allow his anger and everything else to take over.

Syani breathed out another cloud of vapour from her mouth, creasing her eyebrows to try and see it through his glare. Kaekeru seemed like clenching his jaw and the rest of his limbs so tightly, the corner of her eyes caught the sight of his fist against the snow, and how terribly tensed it seemed.
"Kaekeru. Let me see what you've gone through. Please." She was serious about that. She knows he suffered enough through what they did to him, and she's making it worst by making him restraining himself so hard like this, in fact its incredibly selfish of her to even wish something from him after knowing those.
"Can vampires smell their victim's fear?" She suddenly asks him in a whisper, her eyes looking over Kaekeru's darker red ones, slowly and calmly. She fears those eyes once, and its an even frightening pair now, so it worries her a bit if that glare of his would sharpen even more after what she's about to do. That question is supposed to be answered in order for her attempt to flow on smoothly without feeling a sudden major blood-loss by her neck.
But somehow...she doesn't care... As long as she tries to save this man. ..Strange how her feelings blocks out every ounce of common sense. "Forgive me.."
Gently moving her hands around his head, she took one meaningful look into his red eyes before pulling his head down, letting his forehead touching hers. It's apparently a technique she acquired from her telepathy class with Mr. Reinhardt, in order to read their past, either recently or from way before.
'Please Kae-kun...don't suffer alone.. I'm right here with you, and I always will be here for you... Please let me in..'
Syani is hoping that he won't push her mind off from interfering in his. If he did, then that might possibly knocked her unconcious for a while.
But if he accepted her, then some images will flash in and out...and if she's lucky, then it might possibly be an actual past event playing.

Kaekeru watched her still, tensing up at the feel of her breath against his lips as she spoke. He was in no way willing to allow her entrance into his thoughts anytime soon. However, he still did not trust himself to speak so he just glared at her request to see his torture. A thought flashed for an instant that she merely wanted to mock him like how the Kumo clan mocked each time they entered to torment him. Though he quickly brushed those thoughts aside before he would allow himself to attack her, reminding himself that this woman was not interested in harming him further.
He heard her question about smelling fear. He deep into her eyes, his still in a glare but they softened somewhat at that. He was almost glad that she was afraid this time though. He wanted to tell her to move away from him so he wouldn't hurt her.
As she pulled his head towards hers, he tried to freeze more, giving a little resistance so that pulling his head down wasn't too easy a task. Now with his forehead against hers, he felt her warmth. He wanted to inhale her scent and taste the sweetness of her human blood. Suddenly then, he heard a voice in his head. An alarm went off as he felt her trying to enter into his memories. A shout, almost in fright, saying "NO" went off in his head as he quickly forced his arms into the snowy ground more and pushed himself away from her finally.
He scurried back, sitting on the ground now digging his hands in it to keep him from rushing at her again. A frightened and crazed look was in his eyes and a growl escaped his throat as he watched her with bared teeth. His body was heaving again, his appearance trying to warn her to keep distance since he could not speak much still.

'Well, that got him off of me...' She noted in her mind, sighing in relief for a bit because of the tense slowly leaving her system. She has to admit, being pinned down on the ground with somebody that wants to eat her, is rather frightening. 'But...'
Sitting up, Syani watched on how he tries to hold himself back again from lunging at her...next time probably with her ending up dead. "How can I help you if you don't want me to get hurt..." She whispered, the vapor forming out of her breath is more than her own voice. It's a heartbreaking sight, to see someone who tries to protect her...from himself.
As clueless as she is, the half-vampire got the message of what Kaekeru is trying to do. Slowly, she dug her fingers in the snow and pulled herself back, away from the vampire. That's what he wants, and no matter how she denies it, it's the only safe way out. '...That is so like Kaekeru. Protecting me from everything. ...So how can I get my point straight if I don't get hurt...?'
Syani stopped, eyes shadowed under her bangs. She pulled herself up yet again, and ask the obvious. "What do you want me to do? Do you want me to go, or to stay." There was strange blankness in her tone as she said that. Blankness that doesn't fit Syani at all.
