Zero shivered in his checkered brown scarf, the weather's getting pretty unstable in these times of days, but Zero didn't expect the atmosphere would be THIS cold. He rubbed his cold hands together in an attempt to warm them up.
He was dressed quite nicely for the occasion, that occasion being his Friendship Anniversary with his best friend, Mitsuko, the angel. It took Zero a while to realize that the newly built amusement park is attracting quite a lot of attention from the neighboring countries, so for the news to reach so far out to Veyyard is quite a feat.
Upon arriving at Pyotr Park, Zero now understands why it's such a success. From outside the gate, it's gigantic. Acres upon acres filled with fun and enjoyment, it couldn't get any better than this.
Zero had even got a new iPhone after his last salary, so there's a brand new touchscreen phone in his disposal to call Miki of the anniversary celebration plan. She sounded as excited, so there he is, standing at the gate of the gigantic theme park, patiently waiting for his best friend.
Then he noticed his personal chaperon of the day, a fellow bounty hunter leaning against the wall beside him, smoking. "Hunter, what the hell are you doing here?"

"I GUIDED you here, you ungrateful little twerp!" Hunter exploded, and with smoke steaming out of his mouth for added effect, it's a success. He had asked Jean, their chief, to kindly give them both a break for a day after such a strenuous month of bounty hunting non-stop.
Jean approved, of course.
The older bounty hunter made clouds with his smoking habit, it was so cold, he thought smoking would warm himself. As he waited, he saw a familiar figure approaching them.
"Ah~ Peach's comin'~"

Mitsuko had her phone in a little black holder that was attached to her side so it could easily be accessed, especially in the case of an important event or even an emergency. She dressed her very best to, because after all it was a very special occasion.
Today marked 11 years since Zero and Mitsuko met, and she was also planning to take him to that exact spot where they met, 11 years ago. She can fly so going back to the starting point of their first meeting wouldn't be a problem after they celebrated.
It was also the spot where she lived and played with Zero, and even when she made her god parents participate in a Halloween parade so that Zero could go trick or treating. They basically went around in circles of Mitsuko's home but little Zero didn't know that. To him it was as if they were meeting new people along the way as they trick or treated. The angel wanted little Zero's mind to be full of imagination, and for him to enjoy his time as a child.
The memories that Mitsuko had of her and Zero from 11 years ago to present had turned into something wonderful. It was turned into this wonderful story book, with pictures. The angel really wanted Zero to always keep the memories of both him and her physically instead of just in his mind. So if he ever got married, have children he could share the story with them.
The book was packaged in a box that was wrapped in her own custom made gift wrapping paper. It had a collection of chibi drawings of her and Zero. and on the top of the box was a little note in which she would read a little later. It was the same note that Eve wanted Mitsuko to read to Zero, when she had locked herself in the bedroom because of that fear.
Today was a good day for Zero to know what was written on the paper. It was a collection of reasons why Zero was her best friend, and what she sees in him. And she hoped those words and the gift reached a special part of his heart.
The angel walked closer to Zero and Hunter with a smile on her face, and her presents in hand. But for her to hug Zero she had to put the gifts in Hunter's care, and than she reached out and hugged Zero.
"Happy friend anniversary Zero!" My best friend forever and beyond."

Hunter can tell, just by glancing at the boy, that Zero's genuinely happy to see his best friend arriving. As stuck-up and mannerless Zero is, it's surprising he can change to be such a caring little brat when Mitsuko comes along in his life. Thus is the power of friendship, Hunter assumed. Special friendship.
The bounty hunter flicked his cigarette to the ground and stepped on it. Like Zero, he also wore a rather decent outfit for the day. As much as he knows that Zero would want to spend the day alone with Miki, Hunter didn't want to miss out such a chance to have some fun in the amusement park...and be a chaperon, in case something unusually dangerous happens.
He sees these two as children, somehow. Little siblings, you could say, though he won't admit it. He will admit, however, that he felt a strong urge to protect these two innocent (and blurry, for Zero's case) kids from harm...and also to tease them to no end.
"Oooh~ Black and red, I like!" Hunter had greeted her with a grin, but before he can tease further, a few items were shoved in his way to hold. He pouted, staring at the two lovebirds. On normal circumstances, he would pipe in in between them to annoy Zero and cry out to Miki for attention...like a spoiled child.
But since today is a special day for them both, he thought that he'd give them a break and be nice, just for today. So, Hunter just smiled, "Never thought I'd see you in anything other than white, eh Miki?" He tried to start a discussion, then glanced at the items in his hands.
'Hmn. Gifts for Zero, huh?' Good thing he bought along his sling bag with him. "You can't carry these things around with you all the time inside the amusement park, Miki. Would you like me to put these in my bag for safekeeping?"
Funny how his initial reason for even bringing a bag with him is to steal some things that he thought might be interesting. Old habits die hard, after all.

"Miki!" Upon seeing Miki in his range of view, Zero had turned into an excited child, just by looking at his face, and how wide his grin is. Though, seeing her in yet another different outfit surprised him for a little while.
Perhaps he's not used into seeing his best friend in anything but angelic costume, though he can't deny that she's still a girl. And girls accessorize. He ought to get used to this.
After tearing his eyes from the angel, he spotted the objects she carries in her arms, and for a while wondered if those are for him. He smiled to himself, for he had bought something for her too, thanks to his salary. Automatically, he reached his hand inside his pants pocket to make sure it's still there. He can feel the small box there, so now that he had confirmed the existence of that object in his pocket, Zero slipped his hand back out deftly.
When Miki launched a hug onto him, Zero naturally returns the embrace by wrapping his arms around her too. It still feels odd to him, because she's so small and fragile. When he was a child, he was the tiny one. So reminiscing that back made him smile over her shoulder, he's growing up.
"Ahahahah. Happy friend anniversary to you too, Miki. My best friend eternally and evermore."
He took a moment to feel that warmth of security and familiarity he always likes, and then broke the hug and handled her shoulder with a smile. "I'm glad you could make it. Let's make today the best day ever."

Mitsuko giggled. Once Zero had told the angel for them to make this the best day ever she automatically intertwined her pinky with his promising him that today will be the best day ever. She could feel it in her instincts. The weather was beautiful even though it was very cold. Thank goodness she changed into her winter attire from her traditional angelic outfit, or else she would turn into an ice cube, and get sick again.
And she didn't want that to happen. Mitsuko had just gotten over from being sick, for a few weeks, so she didn't want to have a relapse and cause panic in Zero, so she was smart and made sure she was stylish but warm.
A habit of hers whenever she saw Zero was to hug him and to look into his eyes just to see what he was feeling. The eyes were the key to one's soul and emotions so when she looked into his blue eyes she smiled.
"I'm glad to see you so happy and to actually feel it radiating off of you. Your eyes they are smiling. And that makes me even more happy!"
She than heard Hunter's offer and turned around and faced him.
"You really would do that for me? Okay Hunter please keep those presents-"
She covered her mouth and giggled some more since she let out the fact that those presents were for Zero, but then she continued her sentence.
"Safe for me. Oh and NO peaking! I know you have a curious side to you Hunter. If you want to see what those special things are wait until Zero has opened them. And if he wants to show you he will."
The angel went over to Hunter and hugged him.
"But thank you. I greatly appreciate it."
Mitsuko had a fondness for Hunter too. He had become another one of her friends very quickly, he was always so warm and welcoming, and most importantly himself whenever the trio hung out together, he was that big brother that took care of and teased Zero and Mitsuko.
Though the angel had a feeling that Hunter was missing his bliss. Sure Hunter never said it outloud but there was something missing, and usually when Mitsuko feels something is off with one of her friends, she is usually right. Everyone deserves to find their own bliss. The angel found hers, and it was Zero. Some people may say that Zero is just one person how can he be considered a person's bliss?
HE is her best friend. He is a part of her happiness and her happy place. When she was spending time with him she felt her spirits rise. In the midst of her issues with her dad Zero helped her raise her spirits just by being himself, and being kind and caring towards her.
Today was also the day in which Mitsuko would say special words to Zero. It was words she hadn't heard in such a long time or said to a person in a long while. She was going to say them when she read their story to him. After all it was the last lines in the book. And what was in her heart.
Zero deserved to be loved, appreciated for who he is, but most importantly to hear the words being said to him from his best friend. She never wants him to go through life without hearing those words at least once. So the most touching way she thought of was to use those words as the last lines of a book, not only for an emotional impact, but to also be true to what she feels.
Mitsuko has a great love for everyone there are people she could say it to, and there are those in which she can't just blurt it out, because people react differently and the last thing she wants was for them to feel awkward.
She knew that Zero would be baffled at first but then as the words start to sink into his heart he'd appreciate them and be touched by them. As long as he knows that she truly cares about him, she has done the other part of being a best friend.
Being honest, and being true to herself and to Zero.

Zero grinned at her, and closed his pinky finger around her small one to complete their seal of promises. He haven't made a promise with her for a while, so her sudden action is surprising, but pleasing him.
"..My eyes...are smiling? Wow, okay, that's a creepy thought," the bounty hunter had imagined his eyes to literally smile, and that sent a nervous chill down his spine. Of course Zero doesn't get metaphors... "B-but as long as it makes you happy, Miki, then I'm fine with any creepy thoughts! ..I didn't know you were into those halloween-type mental images though..."
Zero's ears perked up at her accidental mentioning of presents, and chuckled at it. He took a short glance to the presents before Hunter puts it in the bag, as curious as a child.
"Oh well. Let's go in, Miki. I've already bought the tickets," he tool hold of the angel's wrist and lead her to the entrance booth, where the staff puts their tickets in a sort of machine, which then spits out two pieces of long tough papers.
The staff then puts one of the paper around Zero's wrist as a confirmation band that he had paid to get in, and then next to Miki's wrist.
After that, they're off the explore the vast heaven of Pyotr Park.
"This is so exciting! Miki, which would you like to try first??"

Hunter laughed and put in the presents inside his bag, "No problem! And don't worry~ I won't peek. ...Much." That last sentence was let out with a whisper and a mischievous grin. He then adjusted the white-green cap on his head, and then followed the two inside.
Internally, Hunter's kind of worried. He's in Gradia now, which is frighteningly close to Ianne, where SHE lives. Hunter honestly didn't want to meet HER yet, but... Maybe he's just overthinking these things.
Shrugging his shoulders, Hunter then followed the two to the entrance, and noticed how Zero only bought two tickets. "Oi! Oi! What about MY ticket? ...Augh, you've gotta be kidding me, you stingy little.." Calming himself with a sigh, the older bounty hunter went off to buy a ticket from the vendor, so he can finally enter the amusement park.

Mitsuko burst out laughing when Zero thought that because his eyes were considered smiling it was part of some freaky Halloween images. She shook her head no but figured that she will explain what she meant a little later on so that he will understand. She then felt her arm being pulled by Zero in order for them to get this day started.
When Zero said that he had already paid for the tickets of course Mitsuko said a thank you, they could have easily shared the cost, but Zero paid for the both of them which was very nice of him. The next thing that they wanted to buy was going to be on her. Since they are best friends if one person treats another then the other person that was treated would buy something in return.
This was not only fair, but to get the best of both worlds: Treating each other, without hesitation or relying on one person to pay for it all. She smiled as they went inside her arm was intertwined with Zero's since it was so crowded the last thing they wanted was to get separated by force.
The angel looked around with her eyes and noticed a photo booth. She giggled a little.
"What do you say we go in that photo booth and take some goofy but awesome pictures? We don't have any recent ones together do we? And you see the pictures will print out in a small version so you can carry it with you. I... am more of a sentimental person then having my life based on stuff alone. It's the memories I'm creating with my best friend forever. Pictures will last a life time so let's go."
With that said they both walked together to the booth. As they walked Mitsuko noticed a little boy with a red balloon. It was a cute sight. It actually made Mitsuko remember Zero's birthday party that she held with him when he was 8. Considering that he spent a month with her and her family, they were able to celebrate at least one birthday before he left.
"I remember.... the birthday party I held for you when you were little, I gave you this balloon with a cute face on it. And I danced with you. You were so little and I was so tall that I had to crouch a little in order for me to dance with you. Hahaha. I think I still have the music somewhere."
Soon after they reached at the photo booth the photo taking session began automatically. There were some faces that were funny and some that were pure smiley faces. Mitsuko laughed a little at Zero's reaction at the flashing lights due to the photo taking session, since the light almost bothered his eyes so he had an infamous "AHH my eyes" Moment.
So the camera captured the facial expression and Miki's laughter, and just for kicks and more laughter, Mitsuko provoked another moment: She kissed his cheek, and his reaction was: She kissed me! with a red face, and of course she laughed.

"A photo booth?" Zero repeated, sort of bewildered. Ever since Miki came in the headquarters, the others commented that he had smiled a whole lot, and shoved a camera in his face. It's also weird to be waking up and seeing Hunter with a camera and the flash of the camera getting in his eyes, only to heard Hunter commented that Zero smiled when sleeping too sometimes. It is annoying beyond all reasons.
In short, Zero began to detest cameras.
Though, Miki does have a point in keeping this special memory with the both of them, so the young bounty hunter agrees. He lets himself get dragged to the booth, trying not to sigh out from the utter annoyance of having flashes in his eyes again, but it's for Miki, so he steeled his will.
Said Miki then suddenly began talking about his first birthday party, and Zero blinked at her confusingly. "Bringing that up all of a sudden is surprising... Heh, I can vaguely remember that dance, and the music too," that scene replayed over and over in his dreams when he was separated from her, so of course he remembers. Every little detail too, "You were wearing a white dress, and while I was drinking juice after that, I slipped on my band-aid around my shin and it spilled on your skirt a bit. ...Yeaaaah, I'm still sorry about that. ..And for laughing."
It felt good to finally have the chance to apologize about that, he felt bad for quite a long while for laughing at her that time.
Inside the photo booth, Zero takes a while to adjust his eyes to the sudden flash of lights, but after that he had fun in genuinely smiling and being silly. It wasn't hard to get in touch with his inner childish nature, because Zero had only felt that feeling for only a month when he's with Miki, so releasing that side out gave him a refreshing sense of freedom. Even when Miki kissed him in the cheek, he wasn't afraid to let loose some face expressions that he usually have great control of.
Stepping out of the booth with a laugh, Zero excitedly shows Miki the strips of pictures in his hand at what they just did. "That was fun!" Because he hadn't released himself of his strict control of emotions(in the exception of anger) for a long time.

When Hunter had finally stepped in the amusement park, he had loose sight if the lovebirds. Therefore, the older bounty hunter relied on his sense of tracking and basically ask himself that if he were them, where would he go?
Not long after his random walk, he spotted a little boy with a red balloon. So Hunter asked the kid if he had seen a couple similar to Zero and Mitsuko around the area, and the child pointed to the photo booth.
"Of course," he nodded to himself and approached the small cubicle with a lazy gait. He leaned himself right beside the entrance of it and waited for the two to finish. After they came out, Hunter deftly snatched away the strips of pictures from Zero's grip and takes his sweet time staring at it.
"Awwww~ Look how adorable you two are for abandoning me~" he inserted his own thwarting in his words and grinned down at Zero, who's trying so hard to steal back the pictures in embarrassment.
"So now let's go on something we ALL can enjoy, eh?" Hunter looked around at all the rides available, and spotted the giant roller-coaster ride stretched all the way from one edge of the amusement park to the other. While he was distracted, Zero took his chance on snatching back the pictures.
"How does the roller-coaster sounds, hmn?"

Mitsuko smiled more after the pictures were taken, and she looked at them with such dedication as Zero showed her how it looked in the end of fun photo session. As she looked at them she felt her heart go in a really special place. As children they obviously had their pictures taken thanks to Mitsuko's god parents, so within that month that they bonded the picture album became so full because of all the photos that were taken.
At some points the album over flowed so much that some pictures fell out, so Mitsuko had to tape them in some way in order for them not to fall out and get lost. Than snapping her back from her thoughts and recalling the memories she heard Zero apologize for spilling juice on her dress and for laughing at her.
Mitsuko placed a hand on Zero's shoulder and looked straight into his eyes.
"Thank you for apologizing but the truth is Zero, it didn't make me feel bad. I mean you were just a child. Isn't the whole point of your child hood is to have fun, smile, and laugh? I mean after everything you went through, you deserve happiness. You deserved to have a fair child hood. To be able to explore, to be able to just be you without pain, and sadness, neglect, violence... and a whole bunch of things that were just simply UNFAIR. From the day I met you I already knew what your heart went through."
The angel took a minute to place a hand over his heart and read it,Since she was his best friend, and gaurdian angel, she knew things. She knew what lies in his heart that is deeply hidden.
"People insulted you because of your name. Constantly putting people down, and making them feel like they are nothing is abusive and isn't healthy. Whether an adult or child it slowly takes its toll on a person. But you see... There was a reason why you ended up in the forest from where I lived. So that i could find you and help you, and make you realize that with abuse comes healing. There is hope. There is a way out and guess what Zero? You found one. And look at you today, your still learning but your making it. And for that I am forever proud."
"It's been 11 years since I nursed you back to health in addition for us becoming the best of friends. Please don't feel like you have to repay me. I don't expect anything in return. Every person's life deserves a fair chance. Just knowing that we are best friends and have a very meaningful and close friendship means the world to me. You don't owe me anything.
My kindness isn't about gaining recognition. It's about me genuinely caring about you, and where ever you decide to go, whatever you decide to do, I won't ever be disappointed."
"Zero.... hmm I believe I can come up with a fun naming game let's see...
Z- Has a a Zest for life E- Equality. He's my equal ^_^ R- Reliable O - in my eyes he's outstanding."
She giggled as she played that little game, and than she heard Hunter suggesting that they go on the roller coaster ride. She nodded in agreement and then went to Hunter.
"I'm going to play that game with you as I did with Zero."

Child or grown-up, Zero's still Zero, so it's only natural that he felt certain amounts of guilt or embarrassment in remembrance of what he had done in his past. Still, hearing out that Miki doesn't mind all that he did before greatly relieved him, for her points are solid.
"..I could say the same to you," Zero said softly. It's only recently that he had learn a bit of Mitsuko's past, and he can't say that hers was any better. With a father like Kouji... Zero shook his head, he didn't want to remember that bastard right now. Today is his friendship anniversary with Miki, and nothing is going to ruin it.
She had put her small hand on his chest, right over his heart and Zero could only stare at her with a straight face. While the angel is reading the boy's heart, the boy is perceiving the angel's eyes. He might just met this woman briefly in his childhood, for only a month or so, but that one month changed his whole life.
He was so small, and he needed that sense of love and security. As Miki stated out exactly what is in his heart, even the heavy baggage sewed to the invisible threads at the edges of his heart. His half-lidded eyelids fluttered open at the word 'proud'.
"I hear you...my angel..." Zero smiled faintly, his eyes held a deep reserve of emotions, totally contradicting their loud surrounding. It's almost surreal how he could block out the whole reality and everything around him while only focusing onto Miki in front of him. He had raised his hand on top of hers while she's still touching over his heart, and to his memory, this is actually the first time he called to her out loud like that.
...That has something to do with his gift to her anyway, so he's not taking that namecall back.
Zero chuckled as he released her hand, and Miki began to play a naming game. "Ahah...if that's the case, I want to play too.
M - Mellow, since your kindliness and gentleness is so pleasant. I - Illuminating my life and making it lighter and brighter. T - Tender. S - Strong, I have never met someone as influential as you. U - Understanding. K - Keen, for you have the ability to recognize the hearts of others. O - In my eyes, YOU are outstanding."

Hunter was, to say the least, touched that she even played this little game with him. He smiled down to her and patted her on the head, something he can't believe he just did, and covered that sudden shock of his by mumbling, "Now, I don't play any games, so don't laugh that your name kind of brings up a sentence in my head: You always Manage to Influence a couple of killers to improvise."
Hunter looked away right to escape in seeing any responses from the both of them, and then outbursted, "Now! I'm improvising that we GO TO THE ROLLER-COASTER~!" The older bounty-hunter had already started walking with a swift gait, towards the line of the roller-coaster.
Thankfully, by how cold the weather is, there's not so many people, so it only takes a moment for them to get inside the ride. "Yo, Zero! Miki! You two go sit at the front line, I'm behind you." He had said, and after passing the guard there who checked the wristband, makes his way to the second seat of the roller-coaster.
A little boy sat beside him, for the ride has two seats per row, and Hunter grinned at the kid. "First time riding a roller-coaster? Haha, yeah, me too.." Yes, even a man such as him is nervous.

Mitsuko didn't pity Zero or felt sorry for him. She knew that Zero didn't want people to look down on him and just do things because they pitied him. What Zero needed was empathy, someone to understand his emotions, and in return share what she has gone through. This is part of their emotional connection, to really be that supportive best friend that they are to each other.
The angel is really empathetic towards Zero since she does understand. His heart is a special place, and while it is still heavily burdened with his past, he is still managing to smile more. To live life, to help those when they need it, and to always be here for his best friend. While he is on call 24/7 due to being a bounty hunter, he was always available to listen to Mitsuko whenever she needed him, or if she just wanted to say hi to him, and to hold fun conversations with him.
Then there were those times when she cried out of pure sadness, he knew even though she would try and sound normal from crying, and he would ask her to tell him the truth and what was eating her on the inside
Sometimes they played the game 20 questions and they would have to answer honestly. This was like one of the 20 questions meme on the internet that people would fill out for people to get to know each other better. While they knew each other very well the game 20 questions were a lot of fun for them, it was one of the many things that strengthened their relationship.
Zero changed Mitsuko's life in more ways than one, he was in dire need of help and Mitsuko had a chance to reach out to a little boy who was injured and almost gotten sick from infections due to untreated wounds. Zero showed her and made her realize that not everyone has a love for children, and that some people are treated like garbage or taken advantage of, and those aren't so lucky.
The angel was stifled in the life style that she was living in but Zero was teaching her to get her wings metaphorically speaking, while she knew at first Zero was worried about her joining the bounty hunting route, since he didn't want her to get hurt.. Mitsuko had the feeling that he was slowly becoming to accept her helping out.. Everything was a learning experience for her and while life itself wasn't a fairy tale.... Her dreams were coming true. She had her best friend, she was soon to be a registered nurse.
Both Zero's and Mitsuko's stories were terrible and dark, but notice how they almost had a happy ending in a way- They had each other to rely on. When one fell off the wagon, the other would pull them back up.
She heard the words "my angel" come out of his mouth and smiled. Perhaps there was a reason why he was saying it outloud but she was sure to find out later. Zero was the type to not do something without reason.
The angel gently walked with Zero after he finished playing the naming meaning game, and they each went on their front seats of the roller coaster.
"Hunter and Zero... C-Can I confess something right now? I know.... I.... can fly but..... eh.. I feel nervous on this roller coaster as I have never been on one."
Just as she said that she also saw a clown from afar making balloon animals for various children, before the ride took off, and she looked away. She was afraid of clowns for some reason.
"A-A c-clown...."
