Sean had seen this before, this...room filled with children and an adult asking questions to the children, expecting them to answer. He doesn't know what this activity is called, nor does he care why it's done so.
But deep inside him, if he wasn't so intent in finding his father, then Sean would be very willing to join the children. It feels so...normal, that it made him feel sad that he's somewhat not normal.
Celeste, his imaginary owl, stays quietly on his shoulder, watching everything that's transpiring. Sean however, isn't so lucky because he's not imaginary, he was even nominated to be some random man's little brother all of a sudden.
His frown deepens into a scowl at Zero's self-proclaimed title, disliking everything about it because he even barely knows the man, why is he suddenly becoming a brother? It feels too much like what he's feeling now about his father; existing but not there.
Zero's question shocked Sean, his eyes widened as he quickly looks away from the man. But having Zero staring at him so intensely, Sean just clammed up and immediately tries to escape from him by holding up his hand right after Mitsuko's second question.
"Summer!" He answered loudly, sounding a bit forced rather than happily stating it out. He can feel everyone's eyes looked at him, so then he continued, "And the next answers are fall and winter. Can I go to the bathrooom?" Before anyone can even utter a sound, Sean quickly shuffled his out of the crowd in search of the door outside of the room.

Duo made his way silently to Zero when the little kid suddenly escaped from him, from everyone apparently. "You're supposed to get close to him, not scare him away!" He whispered to the bounty hunter with a frown. Then he turned to Mitsuko, mouthing to ask her what should he do with an angry child in the room.

Mitsuko really wanted to approach Sean, but she didn’t want to overwhelm him, or come on too strong. Being an angel she knew that he had his own struggles, and she also felt his sadness. She wanted to cheer him up, so for guidance she closed her eyes and said a little prayer in silence.
‘There just has to be something that Zero and I can do for this little boy, but what? I understand why he’s so anxious to leave because his time is precious, and his time is spent on finding his father. But even children need rest, and to have some fun too. I wish I could take away this child’s pain, no child deserves to be sad.
They deserve to be happy. That’s what I want for all of these children. They are all very bright, Sean included if I give him a hug he’ll probably push me away, but i… don’t care. I understand a person’s personal space but Sean… I can’t bear to see him so sad, and this uncomfortable I wish you well Sean. Always.’
Mitsuko opened her eyes again and looked at the chalkboard that had all of the children’s names listed. Beside each child’s name there were golden stars that these kids earned for participating in class, helping each other, and doing well with their school work.
At the corner of her eye she saw Duo mouthing to her about what they should do about Sean. Mitsuko’s response to that was a hand gesture that basically told Duo to give her a second. The angel went over to the chalkboard where the children’s names were listed and she added Sean’s name on there.
(The chalkboard with the names and stars. and since she does teach Zero too, his name is on it
Even though there would be a chance that he may not be in her class again for a long while, the angel thought that adding him would be a nice thing to do, and to let him know that he belongs somewhere and that her class room is always open to him. Since he answered her questions about the seasons correctly Mitsuko put a star next to his name. The angel then went to Sean and gently hugged him while saying:
“You may go to the bathroom, and I don’t care if you dislike me for hugging you but every child needs one. I don’t care if you physically push me away from you Sean, but just know that you are very bright and don’t let someone tell you any differently okay? You see that wall over there? That wall has a chalkboard on it, and on that chalkboard your name has been added, and you too have a star next to your name because you answered the questions correctly.”
Mitsuko let Sean go and before she could say anything else someone came entering the room and handed the angel a note. Unfolding the piece of paper she read the note.
The rain has stopped and baseball game will continue as planned, you can bring your class down to play, I’m sure they will enjoy it!
After reading the note she told the kids to get ready to go play a baseball game outside. The angel would continue on with her lessons later as these children were little and have a low attention span, so pretty soon they would start getting antsy and want to get up from their chairs, so a break is what they needed.
“Duo can you do me a favor? Can you see if anyone downstairs needs help to set up the baseball game outside since the rain just cleared? Also perhaps you can play some music when each child scores a homerun! You haven’t gotten a chance to play yet and I feel so terrible, so what better way to make the baseball game more exciting then by playing music? Just… don’t get too close. I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Zero would you like to play with the children and myself in the baseball game? Right now you are more like a security guard and I want you to be with us… Even if you don’t know how to play you’ll learn by doing. And then when you feel more confident in the game perhaps you can help the children by coaching them so I am going to give you this.”
Mitsuko took out a brand new silver whistle and put it around Zero’s neck.
“The kids will listen to you and have fun with it. I’ll be there too of course. All it is hitting the ball with a bat and running to what is called bases.”
Mitsuko smiled at Zero and said to him:
“Good luck coach.”

Now very uncomfortable and jumpy, Sean whipped his head around to find where the door is. His face was just brightening up now that he sees the exit, but then he was shocked by a sudden hug coming from Mitsuko.
In his mind, everything is going everywhere at once. 'I've met her before, I have specifically TOLD her to NOT touch me!' He wanted to scream, or to push this lady away, or to do anything in order not to prolong this pain he's feeling. But Sean is not a child, he doesn't want to believe he is due to this heavy responsibility he's shouldering, and by this fact alone, he stood stiff and still without a single muscle moving.
For whenever someone touched him, or hugging him in this case, his mind will automatically flashed back the numerous times he was assaulted by the only person he ever knows and loves. Any similar feelings of comfort or touch, he was immediately reminded of her, and when he was reminded of her, he was reminded of pain. Of blood and tears. Of immense sadness. And nothing else.
His eyes are literally tearing up through the hug, and it's difficult for Sean to hear what Mitsuko is saying due to his memories thrashing about everywhere. His heart rate starts to get faster and his whole body is quivering violently.
"....dislike me.... ..push.... ..very bright...chalkboard....name...added... star...."
Those were the only words that managed to filter through in his head. When the angel had let him go, Sean immediately broke off into a run, passing through the person with the note and headed straight to the bathroom.
Tears are welling in his eyes, his steps are uncordinated, and he was stumbling inside the bathroom before slamming it close and locking it. After he's sure he's alone and safe, like he always does back at home, Sean settled himself at the dry corner of the bathroom, squatted down and hugged his legs.
"..I'm safe... I'm safe...." He whispered to himself to calm down, having no idea that he's currently undergoing a trauma attack. Breathing in and out heavily, he just stayed on that one spot until he's sure he's balanced again.

Duo watched silently along with the other children as Mitsuko attempted to reach out to the new boy. Everyone can tell that she's trying so hard to let the kid know that he's welcomed here and her door's always open for him.
Though somehow, Sean just took the first chance of freedom to sprint off somewhere. "H-hey--" Duo tried to call out to the boy, but then was blocked by the guy who delivered a note that the rain has stopped. "..Huh? The rain stopped already?"
Twirling to find the window, indeed it looks like the rain has cleared up and the sun is peeking out of the vanishing dark clouds. Then he heard Mitsuko asking him a favor, to which he nodded. "Oh, sure. And hahah, Miss Mitsuko, no way am I getting my keyboard in a baseball game where balls could be thrown everywhere. But I can cheer! Cheering has the same function as music, y'know?" He grinned at the angel before sprinting off downstairs to help out with the setting.

Zero was absolutely shocked the moment when Sean started to make the atmosphere getting a bit dark with his drama, and was genuinely relieved when Miki went to the kid to give him a hug. Almost instantly, a memory overlapped reality, and he could see himself being hugged by the angel a long time ago after she treated his injury.
So Zero has confidence that the kid will feel the same comfort he had...but seeing the boy's reacting negatively to Miki's powerful magical hug, Zero's jaw hanged open. "What?! That isn't possible..!" He exclaimed all of a sudden, and that's when some guy came in and informed them that the rain has stopped.
He was internally quite disturbed at this point by Sean's resistances, how can a little kid be so deeply against something as comfortable as a hug? As Zero's trying to figure out what's wrong with Sean, Miki called out to him and asked him if he would like to play baseball with the children. At her simple thought of including him in the activity, Zero smiled widely and nodded enthusiastically.
"Hahah, sure!" Then he was surprised more by what she puts around his neck. "Oh hey! Hahah! This is pretty neat! I'm sure I'll be having a blast!" Chuckling at the possibly awesome game they'll be playing, of course he agreed.
Though then, his smile drops slightly and his eyes cornered to the opened door leading to the hallways. "...You guys go start the game first, I'll be joining late." He chuckled nervously at Miki as he scratched the back of his head, but his eyes just kept darting towards the door the whole time.
"I can't...just leave the kid alone." He finally lets it out as he looked at the angel in her eyes. "By the looks of it, he WANTS to be alone. ...But I know how painful that is, I can't just..leave him." His eyes displays slight doubt, but he doesn't seem like he'll budge out of his will.
"You didn't leave me when I was alone in the woods, half-dead like that.. I don't want to leave anyone alone too." He smiled at Miki, and then nodded his head while patting on her shoulders. "Now! You go and teach those kids some baseball lessons, Miki! I'll be right over soon. Okay?"
Zero's whole inner being was clearly impacted by the very soul who had saved him when he was at the brink of death before. Due to her gentle guidance and full-force love, he has grown to be a reliable man holding onto justice like it's been engraved in his heart.
"Just leave all the negative problems to me. You go nourish the positive atmosphere with the children." He knows for a fact that Miki gets slightly weaker when anything negative is threatening to poison the atmosphere, she thrives of love and hope and positive strengths of life itself.
So Zero makes it his responsibility to try to at least neutralize all the negative air that could possibly throw Miki off-balance. He knows she could get physically sick if she gets too much things going on that's affecting her negatively, so he does his best to protect her from anything of the sort.

Zero could read her like a book and so Mitsuko wasn’t surprised by his words when he told her to leave all the negative problems to him. She takes things to heart and she feels everyone’s pain, she wanted Sean to have someone that he can turn to and be a kid, but she sensed that there was something deeper going on with him emotionally.
The angel was touched when Zero stepped in to try and help Sean and not leaving him alone and so the angel reached out once all the kids filed down the stairs after Duo left, and she hugged him.
“Can you hold me for a second please just so I can collect myself?”
As the angel held onto Zero for a few minutes before she could head downstairs all she did was breathe, take a few deep breaths in and out and you can hear the shakiness with each breath she took, until she was able to get centered and stabilized.
“Zero, please do what you can, I can’t stand to see a child hurting like this, it makes me think like what if that was my kid suffering? What would I do as a mom to make him feel better? I’m not a parent yet., but I have this motherly instinct you know? Please do what you can Zero. Thank you. Again I know I can count on you, and if Sean does give you any information and you feel like he’s in deep trouble, then you have a right to look into it.”
“Take all the time you need with him I’ll just be outside, and when you come I know you’ll have fun, I know the children want to play with you, but I think for now Duo has a few little fans. The children just went downstairs as soon as Duo left; as if they were playing follow the leader haha. I’ll see you out there coach. I love you.”
The angel released Zero and went downstairs once she felt centered and not succumbing to the negativity that was around her, and the angel assisted the kids in getting ready in a cute baseball uniform, and each child had a baseball cap to match. Afterwards she saw Duo working hard to set up the game, so she smiled and carried over a baseball cap for him to wear.
“Oh Duo! Since you are a part of our team now you get to wear this baseball cap. And just in case a ball does end up coming your way you can catch it with this glove. When Zero comes can you give him these two extra baseball caps? One for Sean and one for Zero since he is the coach. Thank you.”

When Miki suddenly wrapped her arms around him in a hug, Zero raised his own arms in mid-air in slight surprise. Her request for him to hold her made Zero hummed in agreement, then embraced her back tightly.
He can understand how scattered her emotions must have been with empathizing the strange boy who can't even find comfort in comfort itself. "Ssshhhh... It's alright. He's probably just having a bad day...or going through a difficult phase..." He tried to reason while patting the angel on the back to calm her. Zero's just toning his reasoning down in order not to worry her more.
"Okay. You have fun now. I love you too." He responded calmly before releasing her and watching her walking off downstairs. Zero heaved off a heavy sigh before making his way towards the hallways, trying to find the kid in all the unoccupied rooms.
Then he noticed the bathroom door is closed tight.
"Hey, kid.. You in there?" He knocked on the door, "You know we can't solve this if all you do is keeping quiet about it. Why don't you tell me what I'm NOT supposed to do, and we can let this slide."

At the sudden knocking on the door, Sean jumped in surprise. He refused to answer the man as he only glared at the door, though his malice was quickly diminished once he heard the man is trying to reason with him.
At this, Sean thought quickly. He whispered to Celeste on his shoulder a few times until he finally voiced out, "Why don't you just STOP caring about me, it makes you look fake and pathetic, I don't need your attention!" With how his inner storm is rolling in, Sean literally screamed at the door.
Unable to take much more of this, he found that his clothes are dry enough for him to wear, so the little boy slipped in what he wore before, tied his cloak around him and finally opened the door.
"Here. Thank you. I need to go now." He forcefully pushed the clothes Mitsuko gave him onto Zero and slipped beside the man to walk off. By how bitter his voice is, it's pretty apparent to see that Sean is clearly very angry and annoyed.
"Leave me be, and don't sympathize me. Just don't do that to me, please."

Duo stood up straight with a relieved breath of air. He had been drawing on the sand of where the kids needed to run during the game and put white flat squares as bases. "What do you guys think?" He turned to the kids after finishing his work.
He noticed how they're all dressed in their uniforms and had to grin of how adorable they all looked. Then he saw Mitsuko walking over to him and handed him a baseball cap. "Oh, hey! Sweet! Thanks!"
Immediately, he wears the cap backwards. Some of his bangs escaped the confinement of his cap, but that just makes him look even more stylish. He even got an extra glove, as well as two other caps for him to give to Zero and Sean.
"Aye aye, ma'am. Will do!" He nodded enthusiastically and then jogged his way towards the kids, placing the two caps on an empty space there. He'll fetch them and give them to the boys later when they return.
"Alright! So who's ready to play baseball?" He punched a fist inside the palm of his gloved hand. "Everyone's gonna have fun today, or else I will tickle you and kiss you till you giggle!" He threatened good-naturedly and laughed.

The angel felt relieved when Zero hugged her, their tender moments no matter how quick they were it helped her. Zero was fighting through all the negative situations that could hurt Mitsuko’s spirit and she was grateful. Zero was the voice of reason for her, and while he was straight forward she knew when it came to her, he was polite with his words.
She was in a very soft and tender mood so before she left Zero to head downstairs she gave him a very gentle kiss before saying I love you to each other. When she reached Duo and presented him with the baseball caps she looked at him and let out a giggle.
“You look very stylish there Duo with the cap on. Hahaha! Come on catch!”
As the angel said those words she threw a ball to Duo’s glove. The children surrounded Duo and Mitsuko, and one of them ended up lunging a hug to Duo, because a lot of them wanted to be tickled and kissed. There is something about children that is so precious.
When children are treated right, they can respond positively to love and affection. These orphaned children loved it when they got tickled and kissed, because Mitsuko gives these children kisses and hugs, and never once deprived them of it. She ended up kissing each of their heads and hugging them.
“Now what do you say we get this game started? Duo are you ready?”

This kid is tough to crack, but Zero's not aiming to crack the shell, no. He just wants the boy to acknowledge that what Miki did earlier is not meant to harm the boy in any way, it's a sign of welcome and acceptance.
"Okay, kid, fine. I hear you. I don't feel sorry for you, you have your own pride, I respect that. But please," Zero sprinted passed the kid and stopped him on the way near the stairs. "Listen to me, please. ...Don't..hate that angel, alright?"
He's asking this straight out and respectfully, he's not just asking this from a child, he's asking this from a person. There is no way Zero is looking down on anyone, even kids, because they have their own rights as a human being.
"That's all I ask."

Sean was forced to pause his steps when this man stood on his way. The child glared up at the man with a force that could make people wince. He had enough fooling around, and he's running out of time to perform his promise.
Other kids are so carefree, and Sean is envious of them. His whole life had been laid out before him without him having any choice, and as much as he wants to be normal, he can't. He promised.
"Move. Out. Of the way." He demanded darkly, but the man stood his ground and spoke of only one request. Sean closed his eyes and held himself back from screaming all over again. He doesn't have time for this.
"What do you think I am, a demon? I don't...hate her, okay? I just...don't like the way she's treating me." He sighed. The little boy acknowledged that she meant well despite his boiling anger, but the method she usually uses doesn't work on everybody.
"I know she's nice. But I don't need that comfort. I just want my wishes to be respected." He spoke out more calmly, matching Zero's tone of voice now. "When I say no touching, then no touching. And when I ask for you get out of the way, then get out of the way."
He ended that with a swish of his hand sideways to demand Zero to move, and once he does, Sean made his way down the stairs without making the slightest sound.

Duo had to laughed when the angel commented on him being stylish as he wears the cap. "And what about you yourself, miss? A baseball cap on an angel doesn't look too bad!" He remarked with a grin.
Once Mitsuko threw him the ball, Duo caught the thing in reflex, "Whoah, nice throw!" When suddenly, one of the children pounced on him without warning and hugged him tightly. "Hahahah! Hey, hey, c'mon, I know I'm cute, but you know what's cuter? ...All of yooouuu!!"
He picked up the kid who had hugged him and playfully throws them in the air, catching the kid under their armpits and then hugging them tightly. "Good God, you're all so undeniably adorable, I just can't--" He didn't even manage to finish his sentence when he just suddenly attacked the kids with a huge bearhug.
The laughter of children is echoing loud in the fields outside the inn, some guests there even opened their windows from their rooms to see what's going on and to watch the baseball game. Duo absolutely loves children, he can't help himself when being surrounded by a mass of them.
Mitsuko even joined in the hugging and kissing session with the kids. Everyone is just laughing, it's such a fun sight. "Hahah! Okay, okay! Let's play game!" He announced in response of Mitsuko's confirmation, and all the kids just yelled 'YEAH' as a collective answer.
"You guys know how to handle the bats, right?" He asks all of them, seeing a whole stack of bats on the ground provided for them to play, walked over towards it and coolly stepped on one of it till it bounces off the ground and deftly caught by Duo.
The kids clapped at him for his act and Duo bowed lowly. "Thank you, thank you~" Clearly enjoying himself, he then turned to the angel. "You want to split the training? I can teach them how to hit a ball, you can teach them how to catch it. What do you think?"

Mitsuko blushed when Duo complimented on how she looked in a baseball cap and whenever she laughed it was so full of life, that you just knew that she was happy. All the children that were around Duo and Mitsuko were happy too and in a way these children were given a life outside of them being poor and unfortunate. The angel looked at each of the children’s smiling faces and some of them requested that they be kissed again and Mitsuko did just that.
The angel’s tender kisses toward children were motherly and the children giggled whenever they received them because, it tickled them. When some of the guests started to look at the amazing sight that was full of laughter and love, they too even encouraged their children to join in the fun. Even a puppy wanted to play too.
When Duo had said to everyone to play a game and the kids responded with a loud YEAH Mitsuko smiled. When she heard Duo asked if they knew how to handle bats the angel giggled especially when he did a trick with it and the children started clapping and he started to bow. Heck even the angel started clapping and started to say:
“YAY! Duo! I don’t even know how to do that, can you show me? All I know is gum chewing even though I rarely chew it hahaha baseball players commonly chew gum and this is the most I can do with it see?”
Mitsuko put a piece of gum in her mouth and popped it with her tongue.
“And of course I’ll teach them how to throw, but first…”
Mitsuko felt a few more people show up to the baseball game and she knew what she should do to open up this game before it begins and that is by singing. The angel stood a distance away and while some people provided the background vocals she sang the main parts and as she sang she hoped her message of love reaches everyone, the children, Zero, Sean, everyone.
All the colors of the rainbow All the voices of the wind Every dream that reaches out That reaches out to find where love begins Every word of every story Every star in every sky Every corner of creation lives to testify
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough With every breath I take I will give thanks to God above For as long as I shall live I will testify to love
From the mountains to the valleys From the rivers to the sea Every hand that reaches out Every hand that reaches out to offer peace Every simple act of mercy Every step to kingdom come All the hope in every heart will speak what love has done
For as long as I shall live I will testify to love I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough With every breath I take will give thanks to God above
For as long as I shall live I will testify.... I will testify to love (For as long as I shall live I will testify to love) I'll be a witness in the silences when words are not enough With every breath I take Will give thanks to God above For as long as I shall live I will testify to love {repeat} :
This angel really loved her life and everyone in it, and as she sang she was dancing too and spinning around a few times. She even picked up each child in her arms one by one so that they can dance with her as she sang. What she was doing was conditioning everyone with her spirit. She even nodded at some of the guests that began to sing with her too.
Mitsuko had a very delicate health ever since she was young but that didn't stop her from conditioning another person's soul, especially a group of people. Zero was her pillar of strength too so whenever she got sick she always pulled through because of him.
The puppy that wanted to play even started barking, in all of Alamo Inn history this is one of the most wonderful moments to ever grace the inn.
