When Sy began commenting about the sugar in the pancakes, he expected something of a glare from Muri. What he didn't expect was his mother going into detail of his childhood infatuation over pancakes. Sy looks over at her in both horror and embarrassment for speaking of such personal stories with someone they barely know in the house. "Mother..!"
He suddenly does not want to look at Muri nor wishes to acknowledge she was right there listening. It was then that Muri speaks, assuring his mother that the pancakes are delicious. Imagine his surprise when she had the nerve to say she can't eat as much as him while emphasizing how small she is, implicating he's the opposite for finishing his food. "I beg your pardon??" With a sassy turn of his head, Sy gapes at her in shock of her words.
Perhaps the insinuation that he eats a lot is too much of a blow for the vain young man, and he continues to glare at her up and down as if she had committed treason against him. His glare goes unnoticed by his mother though, who joins them at the table and continues conversing with Muri.
Sy scoffs audibly while they both talk to one another, facing away from them in disgust, much like a child who was upset at being ignored.
His anger wanes once Elysia speaks of his father. He couldn't remember the event she described, but he does remember demanding pancakes every day for breakfast. Perhaps since that event. It's usually his father who prepares food in the morning, and he only wanted his father's specific pancakes, even after his mother took him to Gradia. It was the pancakes that made him conceptualize for the first time that his parents are separated. Fortunately, they separated on good terms, and Sy stays over at his father's place sometimes whenever he's in Evnae.
Now with his mother not nearby, he looks back to Muri with a straight face and leans his body slightly forward. With a quiet voice, he whispers with a hint of threat to her, "What are you achieving by playing nice with her around?"
