Elysia heaved off a tired sigh once she finally got her son's body off of Muri and onto the floor, though gentle to not allow his head to bang on the floor. There is no way she can drag Sylvester down on her own, and there's no other rooms upstairs, she can't just leave her son out on the veranda, he'd catch a cold.
So, when Muri said that it's fine having a man asleep in the same room she's occupying, Elysia heaved off another sigh, this time out of relief. "Thank you, and I'm sorry this happened on such bad timing, please get some rest, dear." She said in a caring motherly tone, smiling sweetly to the little girl. "Have a good night." Elysia waited for Muri to get comfortable before walking over to Sylvester's cupboard to find some Gradian gadgets she could use at the moment.
Pulling out four cone-like hand-sized gadgets, Elysia then placed each of the cones around Sylvester's body on the floor, creating a rectangular shape if connected. And connect they did, a straight line began forming from each of the cones, connecting to the other beside it, and then filled the space inside the area with a thin blue strip on the floor, under Sylvester's body. The strip then grows thicker until a mattress is materialized under the young man's body.
Elysia smiled, covering her son's body with a spare comforter and walked out of the room, closing the door quietly as she does so.

Muri really wanted to allow her consciousness to slip into a deep sleep immediately, but she couldn't help but be curious about those existing in her presence at the moment. To convince Elysia, she made it appear that she had already fallen into a deep sleep; however, she was still awake and listening to the small movements Elysia was making and could even notice a slight change to the space in the room.
Once Elysia left the room and closed the door, Muri carefully turned her head towards Sy and slowly opened her eyes. She couldn't see the change to the room immediately, but waited while her eyes adjusted to the darkness. Thanks to a sliver of moonlight entering through the window, the adjustment didn't take too long. Muri was able to make out what appeared to be a mattress on the floor.
She blinked a couple of times while staring before realizing what Elysia had done. There were four points of interest that made up the shape. Muri slowly grinned a mischievous grin as she realized Elysia had some interesting abilities of her own.
Feeling a wave of tiredness rush over her again, Muri yawned quietly and turned over on her other side facing away from Sy. This time she fell asleep for real.
As the earliest morning sun shot beams through the window and into Muri's eyes, they shot open with brilliant speed. Muri sat up quickly, holding her tired and tipsy morning self up with one hand on the bed and placing her other hand to her forehead.
She had woken up crying again, as she could tell from the moisture she felt on her hands as she wiped the sleep from her eyes. Her mood turned instantly sour as she recalled what the morning light had done to her dreams. She glared towards the brightening outdoors with a glare of extreme hatred. The light, to her, was her enemy, for reasons she kept to herself.
She heaved off a heavy sigh, turning away from the window and moving her legs out from underneath the blanket towards the floor. As she was moving to get out of bed, however, she noticed a male figure on a fake mattress on the floor beside her. With the colour of his hair, he could almost be a quintessence like her.
She let out a quieter sigh and leaned forward, sitting on the edge of the bed with her elbows on her knees and her head resting in her hands. She stared at him for a few minutes with a mild glare as she recalled what happened yesterday. Slowly, a small devious grin grew on her lips. This man was to be her servant.
She let out a single quiet chuckle before standing up and stretching. Without glancing back at him again, she quietly made her way out of the room to find the bathroom.
There, she stared into the mirror for a little while to make sure she fixed her hair and dress properly. It was rare that she'd sleep in her clothing, but she was staying at this house unexpectedly and was so tired she must've forgotten to ask for something to wear to bed.
When she was satisfied with how her hair and dress looked, she let out another quiet sigh then used the bathroom facilities. With one last glance in the mirror to make absolutely sure she looked perfect, she left the bathroom. Muri glanced both ways down the hall. It was extremely early in the morning, so she assumed no one else in the house would be waking up so early.
For someone who despised the light element, Muri could not sleep during the day. Perhaps she felt threatened when the sun was up, so she could only sleep in her ever comforting darkness.
Muri was about to head back into the room where Sy was sleeping before she remembered that he had mentioned a balcony. Muri looked down towards the end of the hall and, sure enough, there was a door leading to a balcony outside.
She approached the door and exited onto the balcony. The sun hit her skin, effectively warming her despite the chill in the morning air. Muri stepped out, quietly closing the door behind her, and walked towards the railing. She placed her hands on the railing and looked out over the lower leveled buildings in the area.
There was a strange sort of peace that ran over her, causing a small but genuine smile to begin forming on her lips as she inhaled the crisp morning air. She leaned forward against the railing, crossing her arms over it and leaning her head atop her arms. She closed her eyes and just basked in the unusual sensation of the cool morning breeze mixing with the heat beaming down on her.
Muri stayed like that for a little while, allowing her thoughts time to process what would be happening that day.
Assuming Sy was well enough to travel, they would be heading out to meet up with her brothers in Evnae. She smiled slightly as she thought she'll be able to see Ya-nii again, but that smile was immediately wiped away into a depressing glare as she realized it'll be hard to get him to be with her in this lifetime.
Muri let out a sigh as she stood back up and leaned back, holding onto the railing to keep herself from falling back. Her eyes were looking over the skyline, but her thoughts were focused on Ya-nii.
For a number of lifetimes, it's been difficult to determine in which she would be able to move forward with Ya-nii. Sometimes he'd almost seem to hate her also. She looked down at the memories of those times, her body curling in slightly, making her look small and fragile from behind.
She held an expression that looked as though she were about to cry. However, shortly after, as her thoughts progressed, her expression molded back into a glare similar to the one she had towards the ray of sunlight when she first woke.
She gripped the rail tightly as a thin layer of smoke began to emanate around her. Not wanting to destroy this place and blow her cover with Elysia however, Muri quickly let out a heavy sigh and the smoke dissipated around her.
She glanced off to the side as she thought about the two inside the house behind her. Elysia was someone who she could easily tie around her finger by feigning innocence for as long as she desired it seemed. Sy could be her interesting servant for quite a while should she desire so.
She let out a short wicked chuckle of amusement as she began to think about things she could do with a servant.
Muri took one more deep breath from the morning air and let out a full and heavy sigh to relax herself before heading back inside the house.
As nice as the balcony was, she could only stand being in the sun like that for so long.
She glanced into the room where Sy was, assuming his passed out and feverish self might still be sleeping for a while. She then glanced over at Elysia's closed bedroom door. After all, it was still the break of dawn. Hardly anyone seems to ever wake up this early.
Muri glanced in the bathroom mirror again while passing to check on her hair and dress since the wind outside tossed it around a bit; she then carefully and quietly headed downstairs to explore the rest of the house she had not seen the previous night.
There were a lot of decorations that suited Elysia's taste but were completely unlike Muri's darker tastes. She walked through the dining area where they had eaten before and glanced briefly into the kitchen. She wasn't particularly hungry yet, but she wondered for a moment what kind of breakfast Elysia might make.
Muri finally made her way into the living room. The whole place seemed to suit Elysia perfectly, and though it kind of suited the way Muri dressed, it didn't suit Muri herself.
Muri let out a small sigh of air as she began glancing through what existed in the living room. In short, she felt extreme boredom. She didn't want to be caught using her abilities in Elysia's home, so she had to resort to seeing if there was anything to read or look at in the living room.
She eventually found a book that was placed in a special wooden display case and was beautifully bound. Muri pulled it out curiously and opened it up to realize it was a photo album.
In it, there were multiples pictures of a man who looked similar to Sy and many of them looking like a younger Elysia with that man. Muri quickly caught on that the man was probably Sy's father. She briefly wondered what happened to him since he was not at this house with them.
About halfway through the album, Elysia began to have pictures of herself pregnant, and, a few pages later, there was a blond baby boy with blue eyes in her arms.
Muri was sitting on the floor, leaning against the couch with her legs under herself and out a bit to the side under the coffee table. She used the couch as a rest for her arms to hold up the photo album as she slowly flipped through it. The photos were in such an order that it literally looked like it portrayed the story of Elysia's love life and Sy's childhood.
At some point, Sy's father stopped appearing in the pictures. There were no pictures of a funeral, so Muri assumed that perhaps he'd just left instead.
As she flipped through the photos, she stopped on one in particular. She couldn't tell quite how long ago the picture was taken, but there was a young looking Sy standing next to an almost royal looking little girl. He looked like a servant next to her, standing slightly behind her in the photograph so that she could be the center of attention.
There were a number of pictures of those two, quite a number of them seeming to have been taken without their knowledge.
Eventually there really was a funeral picture. It was taken of a large group of mourners surrounding a grave where a delicate white coffin was being lowered into the ground. Neither Sy nor Elysia were in the picture - Muri assumed Elysia had taken the photo - but the coffin looked relatively smaller than a normal sized person's.
The pictures of Sy following that photo, Sy was alone or standing next to one of his parents. At least that confirmed that his father was still alive. Muri eventually found the end of the photo album. On the last page, there was one image of the three of them together, leaving the rest of the page blank.
Looking at the binding of the album at the end, it looked as though the album could be expanded almost forever if the owner chose to add more pages.
Realizing the picture show was over, Muri let out a small breath of air and carefully closed the album. She stood up to put the album away, but was stopped in place as she made eye contact with Elysia who must've woken up recently.
Muri didn't bother trying to hide the fact that she was looking through the album, assuming Elysia wasn't such a secretive type especially about her son. She held it down in front of herself and forced a smile on her face to greet Elysia.
"Good morning, Ms. Elysia." She said in a sweet voice with a matching smile, somewhat relieved that she won't have to go looking for something else to relieve her boredom for now.

For the first time in a while, Elysia woke up with a smile. Her son is home and he has a lovely guest over. As the woman reached out her hand to find her hair claw on the bedside table, she thought of what to cook for the kids for breakfast. She made her way to the bathroom next, passing by Sylvester's door. Quietly peeking in, she realized Muri isn't on the bed, so Elysia quietly assume that the girl is downstairs already. She quickens her steps because of that.
Making her way down the stairs, she can finally see the girl near the coffee table, with a familiar book in her hands. "Good morning, Muri," Elysia greeted back with a pleasant smile. "How did you like the album?" She motioned to the book Muri's holding and giggled, "I'm sorry to wake up so late, perhaps arranging the furnitures here the entire day yesterday has taken the energy out of me, ahaha. I'll go and make breakfast now."
She retreated to the kitchen, but only to return to the living room with a cup of warm tea in her hands. "Here you go, refreshments before breakfast." Placing the cup on the coffee table, Elysia eyed the album and sighed. "Time moves on quite quickly, don't you think? ...If I can live forever, I'd have a library of albums... So much to treasure, so little time..."
After a while, she excused herself back in the kitchen, "Would you mind eating berry-flavoured pancakes, Muri? I haven't stocked much food after the move, so perhaps I can offer better things the next time you stop by~" Her voice is so cheerful, echoing in the kitchen, followed by a few clangs to prepare the breakfast.

The moment when Sy wakes up with a snap, that familiar feeling of slipping out of his hold of reality presents itself to him. The whole room is dark, the floor is turning into a slimy mud that smells like death and decay, and he can't even see his own body with how everything is smoky. Grunting in annoyance, he closed his eyes and tries to pull himself awake to reality like he always does.
Sy understands that his control of his illusions aren't that secured yet, so he's quiet disappointed he lost the bet with Muri yesterday. At the thought of Muri, he turned his attention to his left. Slowly, the smog clears up and reality reconstructed itself back. He can finally see the bed, empty.
Immediately, his body decomposes into mist, traveled through the cracks on the floor and reappeared as himself inside the kitchen. He can see his mother cooking, and when he glanced outside the kitchen door, Muri is there. Releasing a sigh he never knew he was holding, Sy disintegrated back into mist to float back up and headed straight to the bathroom, showering.

When Elysia asked how Muri liked the album, Muri purposely made her expression that of a sheepish blushing smile as she responded in a sweet tone. "I think it was very well put together, Ms. Elysia. I admire your dedication to it." Muri chose her words with the intention of continuing to earn Elysia's favour. Praises and compliments are generally what people tend to want to hear the most.
Muri made her smile look a little brighter as Elysia apologized for waking up late. "That's alright, Ms. Elysia. I naturally wake up with the sun, so I'm always awake very early." Muri smiled and nodded as Elysia said she would go make breakfast. Then, as Elysia left to the kitchen, Muri's expression fell back to boredom for a moment. She glanced down at the album she was holding, taking a moment to think about what she had seen in it.
When she noticed Elysia coming back from the kitchen, Muri put on a smile again. Elysia had brought tea. "Thank you, Ms. Elysia," Muri said sweetly as Elysia placed the cup on the coffee table.
Muri was a bit surprised by Elysia's sudden question about time. She followed Elysia's eyes to the album in her hands as Elysia continued to talk about living forever with a library full of albums. Unconsciously, Muri's smile had begun to fall a bit as she stared at the album, considering Elysia's words. Muri couldn't sympathize with the wish to live forever for the purpose of collecting memories. Muri, in a way, was already living like that. Remembering the past... wasn't as easy to handle in practice as some people seem to think it would be in theory.
When she noticed Elysia finally moving back into the kitchen, Muri snapped out of her thoughts and looked up at Elysia's back. It was then she realized that she had stopped smiling while she was thinking. Muri glared for a moment, irritated by herself for getting distracted, then turned towards the cabinet she had taken the album from and properly returned it to its place.
While Muri was closing the cabinet door on the album, she heard Elysia's voice from the kitchen. Muri forced a smile on her face again while looking in her reflection on the cabinet's glass then spoke sweetly in response. "That sounds fine, Ms. Elysia." As Muri spoke, she walked away from the cabinet and headed towards the entrance of the kitchen to smile at Elysia who was busy preparing things to make the pancakes. "I'm sure whatever you make will be delicious." She finished, stopping in the entrance of the kitchen and smiling sweetly.

Perhaps due to her role as the only one who's capable in the kitchen since she was young, Elysia moved with ease and expertise as she reached for various cooking implements and ingredients. It's almost looks like she's dancing, moving with such grace and nimbleness all over. "My goodness, where is that boy when I need him," Elysia muttered to herself as she began pouring the batter onto the already buttered pan, temporarily forgetting of how her son was unwell just last night.
"Sylvester!" She called out to him while flipping the pancakes over. "You have a guest today! Don't forget!" As she's turning around to reach for the fridge, Elysia spotted Muri at the kitchen entrance. "Oh, Muri, come come! Sit down, I just finished making breakfast. Come~" She gestured the young girl over to their dinner table and pulls a chair for her. After that, Elysia skipped over her fridge, pulls several things out and had her back to Muri as she's busy putting the final touches of the breakfast.
Just as she finished, she heard her son coming down the stairs. "Sylvester! Come, serve this to our guest," she gestured to the pair of plates on the counter just as Sylvester appeared at the kitchen entrance. "I'm going to order some apple juice from the market, it might take them 2 minutes longer since I haven't registered the house in the catalogue yet..." Before her son could say anything, Elysia had already walked off to the back door of the kitchen and started facing some kind of computer strapped against the wall just beside the door. She turned it on and began to push some buttons on the screen.
After she's finished, Elysia spun around and smiled to the children. "Apple juice will be here in 5 minutes, I'm sorry for the delay. Is there anything else you'd like me to order?" Gradian technology is so advanced, people can directly order from their houses and the item will be more or less teleported inside their ordering machines.

"Tch," Sy clicked his tongue at the sound of his mother calling for him downstairs. He wishes to response, but he doesn't have the energy to yell back at such an energetic woman. The former butler merely straightened his coat, takes one last look at the mirror, fixes his hair a bit, and then finally climbs down the stairs.
Upon arriving to the kitchen, he was immediately assigned to a task. One look at what's on the plate and Sy heaved in a sharp breath of discontent. He looked over to Muri in a slightly pained expression, then back towards the plate. With gritted teeth, he reluctantly picks up both of the plates, walked over to the table, and sets one down in front of Muri and the other on his side of the table.
Heart-shaped pancakes with bits of blueberries inside, all slathered with honey. She even decorated the pancake by placing two different berries on top; a blackberry and a raspberry, neatly leaning on each other. While he's sure this is his mother's way of signing both him and Muri something, Sy refused to at least show that he acknowledged this subtle hint. "You're not having any, mother?" As disgusted as he is, his tone is still polite when asking.
The woman doesn't seem to pay attention to him as she went off to order something. "Yes, I'd like some aspirin. Thank you."

Muri stood near the kitchen entrance a bit longer, watching Elysia cooking with a false smile in case Elysia noticed her. The scene was strangely familiar as Muri recalled many memories from the past and previous lives, some good and some bad. Muri was brought back to reality as she heard Elysia's raised voice calling for Sy. In the moment between returning again to her senses and Elysia noticing her, Muri managed to fix her smile once more.
Muri smiled at Elysia as she was welcomed to sit at the table. "You move quite skillfully while you cook, Ms. Elysia." Muri decided to pay Elysia a compliment once more as she headed in towards the table and sat in the chair that was pulled out for her.
As Sy entered the kitchen, Muri smiled almost mischievously towards him as she recalled the bet that landed him as her servant and the fun she had teasing him last night. She noted his pained expression in that moment as well and that only amused her more, regardless of what it was over.
Muri raised an eyebrow slightly as she looked at the pancake on her plate then let out one inaudible mocking chuckle as she covered her mouth with the back of her hand. Her first thoughts were how sickenly sweet the pancakes with honey and berries looked and how silly it was to her for someone to make heart-shaped foods. Pushing her thoughts back, Muri forced a sweet smile on her face as she turned her head to look at Elysia. "This looks delicious, Ms. Elysia. It's almost too pretty to eat." Muri actually quite despised the idea of eating food this sweet. She was already trying to brace herself for the onslaught of sugar that would soon assault her mouth.
When Elysia turned back to face Muri and Sy, Muri smiled sweetly at Elysia once more. "Ms. Elysia, I'm new to Gradia. What is that thing you were using just now?" Muri was mildly curious but didn't care too much about it. She merely wanted to push for extended conversation to potentially find out more about this city and this family. She also hoped to delay the time when she would have to force feed herself something that was far too sweet for her tastes in order to keep up appearances.
Muri finally thought of something that might possibly help her to handle downing the sickeningly sweet honey and berry pancake and she just hoped that Elysia had some so that she wouldn't have to wait long. "Oh, Ms. Elysia... Do you, perchance, have any coffee?" Perhaps the bitter taste of black coffee would help assuage the intensity of the sugary food.

"Hm? This?" Elysia stepped sideways give way for Muri to view the machine strapped onto the wall of her house. "This thing, ah, I don't quite remember the actual name of it, too many technical words, but we housewives just shortened it to BYPASS." She gestured to it in an overdramatic manner, almost seeming like a person straight from the commercial introducing their new product. "It's a teleporting machine, which teleports items we want to by from our nearby supermarket into this compartment over here. They deducted the pay straight from our bank account, so we don't even need to carry money everywhere. It's a safe and covenient invention, if I do say so myself."
At some point during her long rant, she had helped herself on picking one of her son's berries from his plate and pops it in her mouth after she's done explaining, "Mm. A bit too sour..." When Muri requested to have some coffee, Elysia smiled. "Of course, dear. I'm sorry I only have instant packets, though. My coffee grinder got burned down along with the Syns, sadly. " She heaved out a heavy sigh and walked to a counter to fetch a packet. As she's mixing the coffee with a cup of hot water, she asked Muri while having her back turned to them. "So Muri, what's your plan for today?" After he finished mixing her coffee, Elysia placed the cup near Muri's plate of breakfast.

Refusing to acknowledge the presence of both women in the kitchen, Sy simply started on his breakfast without a word. He doesn't even wish to wait for his 'lady' to start first, like he usually would with the previous girl he served. Even as his mother moved to his side to steal a raspberry from his plate, Sy paid no mind and continues chewing his honeyed pancakes. There's a lot of berries in each piece of pancake anyway. He even takes his sweet time cutting the heart-shaped pancakes into pieces before he even starts eating one.
Usually, Sy would notice the fact that Muri asking for coffee is a hint to knowing more about her, but he's so tired and bitter, he didn't even acknowledge it as something more than someone asking for a drink. His ears only perked when his mother asked Muri of her plan today. This is within his line of interest since he's involved with her little adventure starting today. At the thought, Sy lets out a defeated sigh.

Muri smiled at Elysia as she explained the teleporting machine. "Wow! That's incredible!" Muri said, only half-feigning her reaction to the technology. She didn't expect humanity would develop their technologies so quickly that such things only magic could do were now possible in technology.
Muri's smile might seem almost a tad bit more relaxed when Elysia declared the berries to be a bit sour. Hopefully the ones on her plate were as well to help cover the sickly sweetness. "Instant is fine, thank you", Muri replied regarding her coffee. She honestly didn't really care as long as it was bitter enough to help her get through the pancakes without breaking her act.
Muri began to cut a piece of her pancake as she saw Elysia preparing her coffee. "Well, that depends partly on how Sy is feeling today, I suppose. I should probably check in with my siblings soon." She took a bite of the pancake, making sure one of the supposedly sour berries was part of that bite. The sweetness hit her instantly, which almost made her twinge as she closed her eyes. The sour berry certainly helped.
When she opened her eyes, Elysia was placing her coffee down next to her. Muri swallowed and smiled with a "thank you", as she placed her utensils down politely and lifted her coffee to take a small and careful sip. The hot bitterness of the coffee instantly helped wash away the remaining sweet flavours in her mouth. She gave a small satisfied sigh as she placed her cup back down, then prepared to continue eating her pancake in the same way, alternating between a bite and a sip.

While Elysia wishes to sit down to politely join in her conversation with Muri, she's still waiting for BYPASS to send her the items she ordered, so she rather stand there with her arms on top of an empty chair's backrest.
"Hm... I'm a little concerned about your siblings, dear. I can let you borrow my handphone so you can call them?" She offers, already pulling out her smartphone from her dress pocket. "If you don't remember their numbers --because I sure don't remember by husband's haha-- I can call their place of work instead for you?" While Elysia knows almost nothing about this young girl, she at least wants to make sure the poor dear is safe.
Suddenly, something dinged.
"Oh, they're here. My groceries." Elysia heads over to the machine at the side of the door and opens it up. She pulls out a bag from it and looks inside, making sure all the items she ordered are there. She then carries the bag to the countertop, but not before passing Sylvester and puts the bottle of aspirin he ordered at the side of his drink.
"Now Sylvester, make sure to prioritize your own health. You get so cranky when you have a headache." Elysia chides, but not before placing a glass of water for him. When she notices he had finished his breakfast, Elysia picks up his plate for him. She looks over at Muri next with a smile, "How are the pancakes, Muri?"

Sy couldn't help but roll his eyes once Muri feigned her reaction to his mother. He continues eating in silence until the accursed heart-shaped pancakes are gone from his plate, finishing faster than Muri. He darted his eyes towards her plate and notices she still has much on it. 'Huh. Maybe she hates it. Good.' He pondered in his thoughts.
However, when Muri pointed out that her plans depend on whether he's feeling well enough, Sy immediately straightens up in his seat. "I'm feeling better, no need to change your plans for my sake." His purpose in life is to make things easier for the people around him, so he immediately caught his own slack.
After receiving the bottle of aspirin from his mother, he sighs from his mouth when she starts expressing disapproval of his personality when he's sick. "Mother, I'd like to think everyone gets annoyed when they are unwell. It is not a comfortable feeling." Still, he is grateful of her small acts of care towards him and consumed the medicine as instructed.
When his mother asks Muri about the pancakes, Sy look towards her with a smirk, clearly knowing she hates it. Still, to bump himself up to her good graces, he decided to bail her out of it. "I think you put too much sugar in it, Mother. It's too sweet, even for me." He said blankly without breaking eye-contact with Muri.
"You don't have to finish it." His voice sounds assuring, but his eyes held a different glint, as if he wants to see how she reacts. "I'm sure too much sugar is not good for you. Don't you agree?" For once, he wants to see Muri denying his mother's 'kindness'.

Muri just put another bite of the sickly sweet pancakes in her mouth when Elysia began talking about calling her siblings. Before Muri was able to finish her mouthful, Elysia was already coming up with a solution to the problem of their phone numbers, which Muri of course didn't know as she'd only been reuinited with them for a few days. Muri stared at Elysia's smartphone as she'd taken it out to show her. It looked nicer than the one she'd seen Zephel holding before, but she didn't really know much else about them. Zephel had previously explained it was for communicating long distance. Petra had scrapped something similar together before, but it was hardly anything as smooth or advanced as these, and they often seemed to break or otherwise fail to work properly. That was especially true when the jinx got a hold of them. It's a wonder that they'd still managed to occassionally reach him on the half-broken device over the years, though their dodgy communication had completely ceased a few of years ago. Can't fix what's broken beyond repair.
After swallowing her bite, Muri was finally able to speak. "No. Thank you, Miss Elysia. It's okay. I don't think they've even realized yet that I've gone. It'll be enough to just return either today or tomorrow." Muri forced a smile onto her face as she spoke, finding it more difficult with the sweet flavours of the pancakes lingering in her mouth, but still managed to force a sweet smile that could fool most people.
She hid her surprise at the sound of a ding as she smiled at Elysia, watching her leave the table to go to the machine she'd explained before. Her smile fell while watching Elysia's back and she turned back to her coffee for a sip. The sour berries in the pancakes weren't nearly enough to make up for how sweet the pancakes and honey were. If one of her siblings had asked her to eat these sugary monstrousities, she'd have thrown it back in their face. Muri, however, was committed to the role she'd forced herself to take in the presence of Sy's mother. His annoyance towards her gaining his mother's favour was amusing enough a thought to keep her going.
While Elysia gathered and began to look through her groceries, Muri cut and took another bite of the pancakes. Her body tensed slightly as she ate, trying to focus more on the sour berries, though still finding it difficult to completely ignore the sickly sweet flavours. Muri took another sip of her coffee as Elysia began to clear away Sy's apparently already finished plate. As she put her mug back down, Muri smiled at Elysia in response to her question. When Sy began to speak first, however, Muri looked at him instead. If Elysia hadn't been looking in her direction, Muri would have glared at him for interrupting her answer.
Her smile widened while thinning at the same time, a hint of annoyance in her eyes at Sy for seeming to have noticed her disdain for sweetness already while calling her out for it. When he finished, Muri turned her smile back to Elysia, seeming more sweet again. "They're delicious, Miss Elysia. I think the berries were a lovely touch." Muri began, really finding only the berries to be edible. "I'm not used to eating pancakes, so they feel rather filling. With my small frame, I find it difficult to eat as much as Sy." She placed a hand delicately over her stomach when speaking of her small frame as if to emphasize how small and delicate she is. As she finished speaking, she looked back at Sy, the not-so-subtle insinuation of him eating a lot and too quickly hopefully not lost on him.
With a vague amusement appearing in her eyes while she looked at Sy, she decided to reply to his final statement as well. "I believe balance is the most important thing in nutrition. Isn't that correct, Miss Elysia?" She turned her sweet smile back at Elysia again, countering Sy's possibly rude lines about his mother's food with a more measured take.

Elysia's expression drops into a horrified stare once Muri stated that her siblings might have not realized that she's even gone. Her mouth had opened before Muri finishes speaking, but her voice hitched into a stop when she sees Muri's forced smile. "Are... Are you sure...?" That was all she could say, not wanting to overstep, but worries nonetheless. She pulls her phone back in her dress pocket right after, feeling terrible of Muri's family life.
Her thoughts now mostly consists on how to help Muri as she organizes her groceries in it's supposed place in her new kitchen. Her back is now towards the kids as she opened drawers and cupboards to place her recently bought pasta and cans of soup.
"It's too much sugar? Really? I thought you liked it that much." Elysia responds to her son while taking his plate to the sink. "You were so insistent on it being this exact amount, you were crying about it. Remember? And your father had to remake it?" Sylvester was so small back then, she doubts he remembers. Mentioning his father meant that it happened a long time ago, so perhaps that would jog his memory.
While organizing the groceries inside the drawers and fridge of her new kitchen, Elysia pops her head out of the fridge door towards Muri's compliment. "Thank you, sweetheart! I'm glad you enjoyed it!" She went back to her fridge for a moment before finally closing the fridge door with a contented sigh.
Finished with her task, she returns to the dinner table and takes a much needed seat. She finds it very sad that Muri is not used to eating pancakes, grossly misinterpreting how difficult her life must be that she's used to eating so little. She smiles sympathetically once Muri turns to her to confirm regarding a balanced nutrition, nodding enthusiastically. "Yes, precisely, goodness!" The topic made her recall her life when her husband was in the picture.
"My husband was really into disgustingly healthy things at one point from a silly bet, and made us drink these funky-tasting supplements instead of eating breakfast normally. I think that was when you were... 5?" She turns to her son, questioning him if he could remember. "You were crying about pancakes in the first place because you wanted something else for breakfast." Elysia laughs a little bit at that, shaking her head. "The diet he forced us in didn't last a week. Balance really is the most important thing in nutrition."
Just as she said that, suddenly her phone rings. The pocket in her dress lights up from the incoming call and Elysia fished up her communication gadget. "Oh, speak of the devil!" She showed the both of them her phone screen. Under the 'Calling...' text at the top of her screen is a circular picture of her husband, with the name Varille under it. "I'll go ahead and take this, okay?"
She stood up from her seat, already answering her phone and putting it near her ear. "Hi, good morning! Did you see the picture I sent last night?? Oh, by the way, do you remember the pancake..." Elysia steps out of the kitchen as she continues talking, her voice getting fainter the further she went.
