"Ah, I see..." Zeph nodded his head, calming down as he watches his dog being patted by Kida...and Zi-Fi's enjoying it. Ryo didn't show much dislike of her this time, and merely closed his wings and settled on Zeph's shoulder like an obedient fire-lizard he should be.
It's a hard gesture of what Zeph is about to do...but he doesn't have much of a choice since his memory was lost. "Uh...Kida. I..kind of...need your help in that field." He has the ability to manipulate water too, but learning it alone by himself just doesn't work for the silver-haired. He's been trying it for about 4 years now since his memory-loss, but he still feels that he's missing a very important prospect of hydrokinesis... What's worst is he can't put his finger on what exactly is it.
"There's something missing. And it's annoying me that I don't know what it is. So uh...would you mind if I ask for your assisstance in...how to say this...uhm...." He can't bring himself to say this. Guess his pride is just as much important to him like before, but the wrinkles of his eyebrows shows that he doesn't like that fact much.
'I guess I'm still a snob after all, huh.'

Kida's brows raised. He needed her help? Well that was odd. And new. And weird too. But he wasn't really spitting it out, serving to confuse her as to why it was a big deal. Of course, some people just had a hard time reaching out to others. No matter, Kida was fine with doing the reaching as long as Zeph gave her a firm hand shake in the end. "You want me to...work on marital arts with you?" she asked, trying to guess at what he wanted.
Kida had never seen Zephel physically fight, only seen him great angry and then there was that one time in the alley with-- Kida cut off the thought just in case Zephel was sticking his nose in her head again. The last thing they needed was to get him irked again just because she thought that guy's name.

"No, not that. It's the water." Zeph surprised himself of how fast that came out...and casually too. Thankfully, his telepathy is currently switched off without his knowledge, so hears nothing from Kida. He then decided that although he's pathetic at asking assistance, Zeph is pretty grateful of his spontaneity...sometimes.
"I'm able to control water like you, I guess." he started, darting his eyes to Zi-Fi, mostly to avoid Kida's stare. It feels strange to ask help of anyone, since it's not really Zeph's style to do so. But Hikaru is able to do things with his mind, and change his overall perspective of even the most basic of things, at some points. "But I'm not particularly good at it... Hell, I can't even remember how to swim."
'That's because I lost a piece of my brain somewhere in the madness of my life.' He continued with a glance at Ryo, who ironically kyuu-ed back at him, almost in approval of his thought.

"The water?" Kida blinked. "Err...." He guessed. Kida wasn't sure how she was supposed to help if Zephel only 'guessed' he was able to do water-play like her. "You don't know how to swim?" she blinked again. And to think they were on the beach, at the ocean. A little lightbulb went off in her head.
"If you don't know how to swim it'll be infinitely harder to learn...This is gonna sound totally dumb, but you've gotta be able to feel the flow of water. " Kida glanced out towards the water, looking over the foam as the waves crept up over the sand and back again. "So that's where you should start." she shrugged. "Look...I'll be honest, I wouldn't make a great teacher. I've tried to teach people stuff before and it usually doesn't go well. But....since this isn't exactly common, if you really want...I'll help you."
She couldn't exactly tell him to go ask someone else. Hell, Kida only knew one other person who was a water wielder and that was her mother.

Zeph's eyes lit up at her approval to help him on his little conquest of mastering an element that he has lost his touch on. "Kida, the gorilla man, if you recall him, dubbed himself as an awful teacher the first time he slapped me the gloves and apron. But look at me now, I'm the freakin' senior baker in some random new cafe." Ryo slipped himself off of Zeph's shoulder, flying off to perch on Zi-Fi instead to keep the dog distracted from bothering both Zeph or Kida at the moment.
"I only ask you to help specifically because I trust that you can manage." He nodded confidently to the young woman in front of him. The silver-haired paused after that, darting his eyes off towards the ocean and frowned a bit. "..Though, I'm a bit embarrassed to warn you, that I can't stand continuous training due to my lack of...endurance."
His hand had traveled all its way to the back of his head, his red eyes now staring uneasily to the two familiars playing about with the ocean foam. "You saw what happened back at Oishi Taberou."

Kida frowned. "You're right. That's....gonna be a problem." Especially considering that Kida was the type to train until she literally couldn't take it anymore. Strain was what she lived for sometimes. "Hmn...Well...The manipulation itself can be pretty draining at first, just because of the focus and concentration it takes." Kida's eyes focused on Zephel once more as she came out of thought.
"How much can you do exactly? None? Just a little?" As she asked she walked towards the water that was gently beating against the shore. The sound was a lovely background music, calming and peaceful. It was a great way to get yourself to focus. "We can try a little now to see where you are and..." Then what? "Then you can tell me where you want to be with your abilities and I can....think about how to get you there."
"Does that sound okay?" She really wasn't sure how to go about this, but that seemed like the most logical route. If they ran into hiccups or Zephel disagreed with this particular way they could talk it out until they had something settled.

"Manipulation is about the only thing I can do." Zeph spoke surely, before swiftly pulled out the sword at his waist, tossed it to his left hand, before straightening his whole left arm towards the ocean and his blade's tip facing the vast blue sea.
There was a pause from him, until his sword's blade slightly glowing blue, and that's when Zephel adjusted his grip on his sword and slashes the air upwards, a very straight cut too. At the same time, a massive amount of water shoots up towards the sky, up high. Tensing his muscles, the element-wielder then tossed the sword to his right hand, caught it perfectly in position before slicing the air horizontally and putting all his body weight into it, spinning his upper body with the motion of his sword. The zooming water stops immediately at that, almost as if its been cut by something, then falls back onto the Earth. Some little droplets of it escaping into the air, creating a sort of rainbow with the summer's striking sun.
"That's all I can do, really." The silver-haired placed back his sword in its sheath, "It's just the attacking part is difficult." Three years ago, if he did that sort of technique, his energy would've drained drastically and leaves him with only less than half of his original energy. Now...well, there's not much change, his energy's still draining low by the element casting.
"Yeah, that sounds reasonable." He replied of her idea, not really wanting to waste much time, "I'll tell you once I feel drained enough, though."
Eager to start, eager to end. That's Zephel, alright.

Kida shifted her weight onto a hip and watched thoughtfully with her arms crossed. "So you can only manipulate the water roughly...and you need a prop--your sword in this case--to help you manipulate it sometimes. Is that right?" She needed to make sure she was looking at everything correctly. After all she didn't want to start teaching him something he already knew.
"You should also tell me exactly what it is that you want to know how to do. That way I don't waste your time with stuff you don't care about." Where they were starting from, where they were ending. All Kida would need to figure out is how to get from A to B. "I mean I can teach you some creative ways to utilize it if you want. For fighting or otherwise." Although trying to drown an opponent was great and all, it usually tended to kill them and if you didn't want to kill them then you had to find other ways to injure.
"Do you, say...know how to manipulate the water's pressure?"

Zeph nodded at Kida's remark, silently grateful he doesn't have to explain much thanks to her observant manner. "I usually rely on my physical strength, without any element-bending, so the sword has become a crucial tool in controlling it, I suppose." Mainly because every time Zeph casts ANY element, he usually would end up kissing the floor out of exhaustion. Damn...why is he cursed with such a weakness...
"Emotions are needed to control the elements without any...props, as you say...assisting us. That's how it works on our part. Unlike Hikaru, I'm unable to express them. Thus, I need this." He patted the scabbard resting at the side of his left leg. That explains the sudden burst of flames earlier when the dog trampled both of them together.
The silver-head truly has no idea where exactly is he standing on. He can manipulate water roughly, yeah, but what comes after that? Just as he's about to ask if water is of any use into attacking things at all, Kida's suggestion stunned him silent. Apparently, that peaks his interest.
"No, I'm dead confused. Care to demonstrate?"

"Okay, I will. But before I do, let me warn you that I'm gonna try my damnest to get you off your prop crutch, okay? Now I'm not saying that my goal is for tomorrow, but as a long term goal." Kida had never started with a prop and sometimes she didn't know if that was a good thing or not. While using props would make manipulation easier, then you would have to break yourself of that. Then again, Kida never had that problem herself, so... This might be hard.
"Actually...doing something frustrating like that might help. Frustration is a good emotion to chanel for this. But anyway, I'm going off on a tangent." Kida shook her head.
She turned to the ocean and called a small amount of water to hover above her hand in a sphere. Looking around Kida noticed a bit of litter around, an empty plastic water bottle half buried in the sand, but completely whole. "Aha." She walked over and picked it up, shaking out the excess sand. "Now watch this. I'm going to throw the plastic bottle up into the air and then tell the water to surround it. Normally, if I'm just controlling the water, it'll make the bottle and the water hover, right? Well watch when I control the water pressure and adjust it to something different than it normally would be."
Kida tossed the bottle up into the air and then threw the sphere of water after it. The water, after wrapping itself around the bottle there was a second's pause and then it exploded. Drops of water flew in every direction, to the ground dropped a mass of plastic that has been smashed into a unrecognizable shape. "Like so. Of course you can always adjust for how much pressure exactly...that changes the outcome."

"It's not a prop crutch, it's a sword." Zeph stated monotonously, almost childishly now that he repeated it in his head. "And you're saying, you're trying to remove me of my sword..." That sounds bad to him at first. Mostly because he can't control any element without his sword...much less initiate it. He might be rendered helpless without it. Though, Kida proved a point with her idea, he may have a chance casting an element if a situation when his sword was stripped away from him happened.
Zeph's eyebrows creased at her frustration comment, but stood back for the spectacular show Kida just demonstrated. It attracted Zi-Fi's attention, and Ryo's too once Zi-Fi's busy watching the show. The explosion startled the two, and the dog started to sprint off in a circle a distance away from her owner.
The silver-haired stared at the object which was once an innocent plastic bottle. He just watched the thing blankly, probably thinking of something in his mind, then turned to Kida. "I'm betting it's not as easy as it looks."
When concerned with using emotions to literally do that, in his case, of course its not.

Kida chuckled, then smirked. "Nope."
"It is a crutch. If your sword gets knocked out of your hands and you can't summon control over your element then you die." She sliced her hand through the air to emphasize the point. "Harnessing the emotions inside you--hopefully ones that rage--will bring you power like you'll never know. Trust me. I've always been an angry person. I naturally vent myself all the time. But that got me shit when I first started because the fury was ruling my power against my will. I told you about making the sprinklers go off when I got mad at a former boss..."
"But," Kida turned back towards the ocean, "While still being able to express myself...I've merely reached a new level. So I'm going to help you do the same. Though you may end up hating me a little...." Kida threw him a glance and winked at him.
"Think you're up for it?"

"This sounds exhaustively exciting and all, but may I add something here, please." Don't get him wrong, Zeph agrees to Kida and how she said of rage is a good starting point, it's just that he has 4 elements inside him...and blindly using emotions may just erupt something other than water, possibly.
"Firstly, no, I will not hate you to a degree that is unacceptable to me, and please don't wink like that ever again." That last part just rolled out of his tongue without his control. Even with the freaky elemental deflections, he's still a guy after all. "Secondly, sure, I'm up for it. Only that I need you to understand, Kida, that using rage with me isn't going to work well. You saw the blazing flame of hell just now when Zi-Fi was on top of us." Yep, that was pure rage all right. "Rage, and its brethren, connected me with my fire element. It's complex, trying to do that with water when I had automatically set that emotion with fire."
He paused for a while, partly thinking various methods of casting an element -water, specifically- without any 'prop crutch', and without flames accidentally bursting out suddenly. "But you're in the right road, at least. Maybe...water is connected to me in another emotion.." His voice trailed away in inaudible mumbles.
"...You know what, why don't you just teach me how to swim first. Maybe it'll come to me soon." That was a spontaneous bit of sarcasm. He wasn't the least bit serious about it. The last time he went swimming in open ocean is with the power of a drowning cat, hell knows what happens if he encounters the ocean again.

As soon as Zephel explained why anger wouldn't work well for him, it all sort of clicked in Kida's head. "I bet you're right. But rather than just randomly assigning an emotion to your water ability, we should see what works with it." Kida was speaking mostly to herself in thought. Rage worked well for her because she only had one type of power to deal with, perhaps, because fire and water were opposites he would need to be completely calm to utilize it. Or is ice technically the opposite of fire out of the four...?
She frowned to herself. Mayber there were no definite rules. Hell, maybe he had to be giddy--something that made Kida have to smuther a scoff. She would never be able to imagine Zephel giddy. Seeing him ticked was rare enough and Kida was a firm believer that everyone got mad at some point. "Wait, whoa...back up a second. To number one."
"What's wrong with winking?" she blinked, sort of confused. What did that have to do with training?

"Nothing. Forget it." Zeph snapped quickly, waving her question off as if it's something insignificant. He had turned his head towards his pets now, watching them from the distance as they played around. "Even if fire and water are complete opposites, it doesn't mean that the emotions have to contradict each other."
Emotions are confusing in the first place, Zeph doesn't rely on them much. "It's a riddle." He suddenly said after a long pause, now staring out at the ocean. 'Everything's a riddle in life, dammit.'
"If you don't possess hydrokinesis...if you're a normal human, what does water represents to you?"
