It was a long ride here but their flight finally here. Gradia, The town that was now invaded by some species of men created by men for the work force. Iku hopped of Kiara as she looked around. The park seemed dead, And the city that was suppose to be full of noise from all the technology wasn't there. It was quiet and still. They must of done a number on this town. She felt an eerie chill go up her spine. She didn't feel safe here at all. Landing out in the open wasn't the best idea either, but where else was Kiara and Orlith to land?
Iku sighed. "So many lives down the drain, and whats worse, its was created by man" She said. And for once that was not a sexist comment.
Kiara just stood there watching Iku, She could feel danger lurking around every corner. She didn't need a piece of paper to know that something was off with this place. Though it would make more sense to stay in Ianne, where it was safe, Kiara knew exactly why Iku and Tyr wanted to come to this place. They always have had a knack for helping people. So it wasn't a surprise at all that they both wanted to come.

Sliding down from Orlith's forearm, Tyr replied to Iku. "Yeah. Even the scent of metal can't hide the danger in this place. Be careful, Iku." His warning was in good will. From what they've seen, there were no other human beings around the place. Since the time they received the news, Tyr held little hope that people were safe. Seeing no one right now made Tyr nervous. Neither he or Iku know what these synthetic men are capable of so they must remain on guard. At least they had the dragons with them. Tyr hoped that they could meet up someone who they can fight with before they stumble across the enemy. There was always safety in numbers.
For a dragon, utter silence was deafening. It was difficult enough that she and Kiara had to endure the noise of machines whirling in this city. Gradia was magnificent, Orlith decided, there were so many things that looked like her scales but she felt oddly out of place. Her claws slipped against the metallic ground of the floating city and the erect buildings offered little room for flight maneuvering in case they must make a hasty getaway.
"I smell danger here, Tyr. Something is around us."

Iku nodded her head to Tyr. She could feel danger lurking around every corner. Iku didn't feel safe at all and it looked like her and Tyr would have to venture off without Kiara and orlith. The thought of not having then beside her 24-7 only made Iku that more nervous. And Orlith's comment didn't exactly help. Iku stepped backwards. At this point she was now having second thoughts. Is this such a good idea? fighting up against something they have no clue about. Iku shook her head.
'What am I thinking? The people of Gradia didn't have a choice, Why should I' Iku thought to herself. Iku took a deep breath calming her nerves. She hadn't been this scared for a long time. As much as her heart wanted to go back home she knew nothing was going to get done just standing around here.
"Lets get moving then, We're not gonna slove anything by standing around" Iku said hiding the fear in her voice. She then started to lead them away from being in the open.
The second Iku decided to walk away, Kiara let out a ferocious growl. Orlith was right Danger was close by, And she can feel it only getting closer. It was heading strait for them.

Getting away from the laboratory complex was easy enough when you can turn your enemies into one of your kind. The Syns not only killed their creators but also turned the other lab staff into even more Syns, causing their numbers to increase. They were already numerous, several hundred to a thousand in number, and spreading from ground zero into the neighboring areas was quite easy. They were not animals but intelligent organisms that can adapt into their environment. They stole their victims clothes and haphazardly donned them. They walked upright to blend in and if it weren't for their shoeless feet, no one would suspect that they are in fact Syns.
A couple of dozen of the horde made their way into the park, following their nose for any scent of prey. Since the park contained animals brought in for the citizens to enjoy, it reeked with the scent of flesh, enough to attract this pack of Syns. One of them sniffed around. There were something far larger than birds in the vicinity and it made his stomach growl in anticipation of a large meal. Gradia was not the perfect place to hunt since almost everything was synthetic; plastics, metals, alloys. Only the residents, their pets, and their food were the only thing made up of organic material. Signalling to his brethren by jerking his arms and pointing to the direction of the scent, the Syn, breaking away from him human facade, ran and roared when the sight of large, winged reptiles came into view.

Tyr, through dragon magics, summoned his bo staff, Pailung, as he and Iku started to explore the vicinity. Tyr reevaluated his thoughts when he first received the news that Gradia was be infiltrated with artificial organisms that could possibly wipe out the city. A part of Tyr was afraid, who wouldn't be afraid? They were going to fight things that looked like men but behaved like something not of this world. He could have chosen to keep himself, his dragon, and his wife from the danger but Tyr's virtues kept him from doing so. Instead, he told Iku outright that he wanted to help and, as something he could expect from her, she agreed and wanted to join immediately.
Their objective today was to see their enemies. Tyr didn't want to take other dragonriders under his command into a battle that could potentially wipe them off. Others volunteered to take the role of reconnaissance but the Weyrleader adamantly refused because if there was anyone who could take on almost anything thrown on him, it was Tyr. Orlith's de facto authority in the Weyr didn't hurt either. Even if the riders wanted to go, their dragons would never disobey Orlith, especially when she is within reason.
"We shouldn't hurry though, Iku. We don't know what we're up against here." Tyr told his companion quietly as they walked. If he could help it, he wouldn't want to leave the dragons, not for the dragon's safety but for theirs. The dragons can take off at a moment's notice but their legs can only carry them so fast. Tyr was an accomplished fighter and was not without experience under belt. He just lacked experience in fighting things that men themselves created.
All of the sudden, Orlith roared. "Tyr! Behind you!"
Instinctively, Tyr swung his staff to his back and knocked the first Syn from tackling him to the ground. Tyr's eyes widened at the sight. They looked human and monster at the same time. The Syn quickly recovered from the blow and lunge again. Tyr suddenly found himself wrestling the damn thing and being overpowered. Tyr gritted his teeth, "Iku!" He shouted a warning but when he glanced at the woman, she's also being attacked by two Syns.

Kiara's growl did not go without warning. It only made her heart only pump that much faster. She started to slow down. Tyr was right, no need to rush it really, If they rush they could get hurt, or worse. Iku had her hand on the hilt of her sword. Her hands were shacking as if she were cold up in the Mountains. Iku took a deep breath when suddenly she hear Tyr struggling. Turning around she quickly saw him. As she went to go help him she was then cut off by two Syns. Quickly she drew her sword, waving it around, trying to keep them away from her.
And this was the moment of truth. The moment she had to fight them with all her might. Iku glared the Syns down. She then took a swung at one of the Syns hoping that she could take it out. And to her disbelief, The Syn was blocking the sword with ONE hand. Iku put all her strength into shoving the Syn away only to be quickly attacked by another one. Not to mention she BARELY pushed away the other one. Using her sword to block any type of attack they swung at her She then clenched her fist. Forming a lightning bolt in her hand, punching the Syn with full strength. But it hardly had an effect on them, All it truly did was knock them back a few feet.
It wasn't enough for their strength to be comparable to Iku's, but even her magic barely had an effect on her. All Iku could really do was defend herself. Which in her book wasn't much.
Kiara watched uneasy as she watched her rider fight for her life. She didn't want to step in just quiet yet, but that proved almost impossible for Kiara. Thats when she felt it was time for Kiara to jumping when suddenly let out a mighty roar. Kiara jumped behind Iku, roaring once more. That was their first warning that Kiara was planning to rip them to pieces. She proceeded to step forward, Trying to not let herself slip. The metalic ground made it seem almost impossible. Her growl only became more ferocious as she continued to step forward. No one would lay a hand on Iku OR Tyr as long as Kiara was around to prevent it.

The large reptiles' protectors didn't seem to be a threat, they were just humans. The Syns would not waste their time on them for there was bigger prey to be had. The two reptiles will provide them with food for weeks! Growling and drooling through their human-like teeth, the lead Syn turns his attention to the dragons. Suddenly he dropped on all fours and jumped meters off the ground to attack the winged reptiles. Others followed him while a few stayed to try and overpower the two humans. The lead Syn landed on Kiara's back and dug his fingers to strip away the dragon's thick scales. He was successful with a few and then, even though his teeth resembled that of a human's, he sunk his teeth down with sheer jaw power to take a chunk of dragon flesh to eat.

"Iku! Kiara!" Tyr shouted before kicking a Syn to the ground. Seeing that the Syn recovered quickly, Tyr cursed because he couldn't lend a hand to the others and resume fighting the two Syns that stayed behind to prey on him. The Weyrleader jabbed the solid metal butt of his staff in the Syn's gut causing the monster to make a guttural sound. Wasting no time, Tyr swung his weapon as hard he could, sending the monster against a light post where it remained motionless long enough for him to turn his attention to his other opponent. The second Syn jumped at him and landed on his shoulder. Fortunately, Tyr was flexible enough not to land on his face when the Syn jumped him. He was able to land on his back and hold his staff up against the Syn's neck, preventing it ravenous jaws from biting him.
"Argh!" Tyr roared and kicked the heavy mass of synthetic flesh off and stood up panting. He quickly ran after it and stomped his foot on its head to knock it out. Killing it was not an option, they lacked weapons that could cut through these things. Making sure that the thing was knocked out, Tyr ran to Iku to help, swinging his staff against one of the Syns that were attacking her.
Furious, Orlith didn't think twice in unleashing dragon fire against the beast men. True to her color, silver flames whistled out of her throat and disintegrated the Syns. Growling, she swiped her tail against some of the others that survived the inferno. Upon seeing Kiara being in danger, the Silver Dragon darted towards her comrade and picked off the other Syns attacking her. She was about to attack the other when she felt one of the beastmen pulling at her wing. Again, Orlith swiped her tail at them, sending them flying, while opening her wings up so that they wouldn't be able to reach.

Iku had enough with these things. Swinging her sword she darted, slashing one of the creatures. Expecting him to be gushing out blood, Iku turned around to get him again. When she realized that it left nothing more than a red mark on his chest. It was then she heard Kiara's Roar. "Kiara!" She yelled as she was continuing to be attacked by the Syns. The Syn continued to growl at her. She then charged towards the Syn, Using the hilt of her sword to hit the Syn in the head. Hoping it would knock him out.
Kiara let out a mighty roar of pain as the thing bit into her back. She bucked around like raging bull in a rodeo trying to get the rider of the back. Only this was much more painful than someone just riding her. Kiara felt her fleshing being ripped off of her. She only roar once more, She turned her head ripping the beast off of her back sending him flying. She then took a deep breath breathing out fire.
'Thank you Orlith" Said Kiara breathing heavily. She was trying to catch her breath The pain was still pircing threw her back. Kiara as quick as she could ran towards the riders, breathing out flames, creating a barrier in between the riders and the syns. Kiara only prayed that they were afraid of fire.

Orlith bared her teeth then sniffed Kiara's wound. It smelled odd, infected. The Silver growled then looked at how their Riders were doing. The Syns that Tyr had knocked out were coming to once again and Orlith didn't waste in searing them with her flame.
At the flash for black flame, Tyr jumped back taking Iku with him so that Kiara's flame would not reach them. He then looked on when Orlith released another flame breath to kill the few remaining.
Were really those the things they were supposed to fight?
Panting, Tyr dropped his staff and grabbed Iku's shoulders, looking over her from head to toe to see if she was wounded. "Are you alright?" Tyr's voice was slightly shaking partly due to his panting and partly due to his new found fear of the Syn. He wasn't expecting them to be this powerful. For now they were alive but who knows how many remain.

Iku was caught of guard as the flames came shooting past her. Not only that but she was then pulled back out of the way by Tyr. She was thankful for it though, really she was. Any closer and she too might have been engulfed in flames. She looked at Tyr who was just as shaken up as she was. "I'm fine, really i am" She said. Iku's breath was heavy. Those few minutes felt like they were hours. She then began to wonder if there really was a possibility of even defeating them. Iku's face became pale when she then noticed Kiara's back. Looking as if she was being torn out piece by piece. Iku then ran to Kiara's side.
"Kiara! " Iku yelled at the sight of Kiara bleeding. Iku's heart stopped, Kiara didn't look so good. At least not to her. Iku was terrified, That there was no a possibility that she could now loose not only her best friend ... but her other half. The one to help Iku soften up. The ear that Iku had when no one else was there.
Kiara's body was somewhat weak. But strong enough to stand. She looked at Iku who had scared and sad at the same time. She knew Iku was now scared. Not only could she feel it from Iku, but she could see it plainly just by looking at her. "I'll be ok, Iku don't worry about me" Said Kiara, hoping that it would calm her down. Though to be honest she didn't know what was going to happen. The only thing she could truly do was wait and see.

Tyr walked over and asked, "How is she?" He then looked at the source of Kiara's bleeding. At the base of the dragon's neck where it joined her shoulders, a chunk of flesh was missing, possibly torn off by blunt human-like teeth. Around the pulsing wound, scales were roughly torn off, the skin from which the scales grew bled making the injury look horrible.
Tyr scowled. "So, they saw us as food..." Why else would they tear flesh out if they just wanted to kill Kiara? "We need to find people who know more about what's going, Iku." They fought only a dozen or so, what if they faced far more than that? They can't afford to fight these things without further knowledge. Looking around, Tyr shuddered at the foreign sights and eerie silence. Where were the other residents here? Were they killed already?
There were so many questions that they need to answer and solve. Kiara was injured and from what they learn prior she might be infected and was in danger of turning. Tyr truly hope that dragons were somehow immune. He didn't want Iku to go through the death of a life partner like he had. Tyr looked at Orlith and feared for her.
Tyr growled in his throat. They must find other people but in doing so, they might put their dragons and themselves in danger.

Iku prayed that nothing would happen to Kiara. She wouldn't know what to do if Kiara were to leave her here. Maybe someone had a cure. She tried to stay positive. But who knew if that cure even worked on dragons. The only thing she could do was wait. Wait and see, Which they couldn't do. They needed to travel forward. What if Kiara got attacked again? Could she survive another attack? Where on earth were they suppose to go? If anything Kiara needed rest, but this place just seemed to dangerous, too dangerous for anyone to rest. Thats when it hit her. Maybe if they found some sort of hospital, That they could maybe help Kiara.
"Maybe we should find a clinic or some kind of hospital" Iku said with a little bit of hope in her voice. "Maybe they know something?" She said.
Kiara nodded her head, There was bound to be a group of people who know something. As for now, Kiara just felt a pain that could make a normal human cry. It stung like no tomarrow, She didn't see it stopping anytime soon. She could still move and she was thankful for that. But like Iku, she prayed that Her immune system was stronger than that.

It was unfortunate that such an event had to occur. Sure enough everyone that wanted to help Gradia were putting their very lives at risk, it was scary, people's heart most likely wanted to stop especially Mitsuko's. Seeing people's lives being taken away by the product that man created tore through her very soul. It made her angry, made her sad, and most importantly it strengthened her resolve to help save those that she could.
Mitsuko flew around as she defended herself against the synthetic beings. She wasn't much of a offensive type of person but she was great at supporting people in battle such as healing the wounded and making sure that the people who were fighting and then in turn became exhausted and sick were taken care of.
As she flew while defending herself and searching for those very lives that need help and in danger she soon came across two familiar figures. Mitsuko recognized the first figure right away- Iku! And then shortly after as she flew down closer to the scene she recognized Tyr. But something was terribly wrong. Iku's dragon Kiara was hurt and from the facial expressions that Mitsuko could see it was obvious. Tyr and Iku were worried, and they were in dire need of help.
!! "Iku! Tyr! don't worry I'm sure I can help!"
Mitsuko took out her bow and arrows and pierced one of the synthetic beings.
Mitsuko then landed and crouched down beside Kiara.
"it's alright girl.... I know you all were hoping for help..... and I'm sure I will be the one to do so. Trust me okay?"

Orlith quickly breathed fire on the Syn that Mitsuko shot to guarantee its death. Her nostrils emitted smoke from her use of fire in the last hour and she held her head high to keep watch while the others treat Kiara. The Silver was glad that it was a familiar scent that swooped down from the sky rather than an enemy and she recognized Mitsuko the instant she got her scent.
"Michi!" Tyr exclaimed then hurried to his friend's side. Mitsuko's presence gave Tyr a sense of relief, at least they had a healer now though he still feared the ability of those beings to turn their victims.
"You came as well. Boy, am I glad to see you. The one you shot seems to be the last of them in this area but we still need to see if there are people left here who are just hiding. We need to help them and perhaps learn about these things." Tyr wondered what would happen to those already infected and already taken over by the Syn's virus. There were still too much they don't know...
