Starting a new chapter in one’s life isn’t easy. There is almost always a bittersweet feeling that comes with change, that a lot of families can be resistant to, and can cause them to second guess any decisions t that would be best for their wellbeing. For Mitsuko and Zero the time had come to play around with the idea of moving. In her mind, for months Mitsuko had thought about uprooting her family's life and moving back to Japan with them- outside of the Domain since she was struggling so much in staying here, and had gotten worn out by all of the supernatural activity that is front and center to this world that they live in.
But after speaking to her husband Zero about it at great length, and letting him in on how she was feeling, she realized that uprooting her family back to a country where they didn’t know the language, or customs wouldn’t be fair to them. Feeling bad that she even had that selfish idea in the first place, Mitsuko apologized to her husband profusely. Zero assured her that she didn’t have to apologize and that he loves her,he admired her honest heart, and that he was happy she felt safe enough to talk to him before making a big decision like this.
They were a team afterall.
On the other side of the equation, it was going to be hard for Zero and Mitsuko to move out of the Alamo Inn, as that was how they started their lives together. Mitsuko still remembers their wedding day and how that night she had given him a wedding gift. In the gift box Zero had received his own house key to the Alamo Inn- it was really happening. Zero was going to be moving in with Mitsuko. His wife. His bride. His love.
Newlywed bliss.
Alamo Inn was where they raised their first two children, created so many memories, had overcome many trials together, and built their lives together.Alamo Inn gave them many years to build a stable financial future for themselves too. To say good bye to the place that had given them a safe place to start a family was a little sad, but Zero had observed and stayed close to his wife and he knew she was struggling in raising her energy levels- Mitsuko had confided in him about this yes, but now he could see it. Their overnight weekend romantic getaway in Fijon, and their double date at a club with May and her husband were one of the few rare occasions that Zero had felt and seen his wife so vibrant in such a long time, so to see his wife struggle so badly in maintaining that vibrancy broke his heart to witness. But he loved her more than anything, and with his children getting older and a new baby on the way, a bigger space, and a home where they didn’t have to manage an inn and worry about their privacy being breached sounded like a healthier idea.
Zero and Mitsuko were getting older too, and both were very introverted people. Their own home and extra privacy was something they could afford now. They wanted to give their third child a different upbringing. Same core values of course that they instilled in Savannah and Matthew as well as the love, but a new space to raise him or her in. Where that child can thrive without absorbing the stress of other people, and Mitsuko managing the inn while raising him or her. Mitsuko had decided to still be a part time nurse, but she had cut down those hours due to her own health and pregnancy. It was also because of the incident at Justice Peak, that she realized that she needed to slow down a little.
The angel even contracted Moderate Pneumonia due to the incident that it took her weeks to recover and she had to stay in the hospital for a while to start and receive her treatment, and scared Zero shitless- it unfortunately made him feel even more frustrated with Angel since he was in charge of Justice Peak in the first place, and Zero felt that since Angel is the police officer on duty at Justice Peak, then he should have had measures in place to protect the nurses that went in that hell hole. Mitsuko’s supervisor was at fault too because he provided her and her colleagues no safety equipment such as gloves, mask, hand sanitizer- making it harder for them to protect themselves from illnesses and other diseases.
When Mitsuko battled pneumonia, she realized that she needed to make changes in her life and her family’s life. Life was too short, and starting a new chapter and moving to a bigger place surrounded in nature was the best thing. Today she and Zero were going to see a beautiful cottage that was the perfect fit for their family- and she hoped that this would be their forever home. The place where she and Zero will grow old and spend their golden years together. Hand in hand Zero and Mitsuko saw how beautiful this place was when they arrived, but before they went inside Mitsuko said this to her husband. “I love you Zero. It’s hard to let Alamo Inn go.. and it’s not easy.. But all our love can go into this new place. And look at how much space it has."
Then it hit her. This place reminded her of the house she and Zero lived in together when they were children, only that house was a bit smaller. "Wait.. doesn't this remind you of my godparents place?"
