Three months have passed since the horrific events at Justice Peak where Mitsuko’s assignment as a nurse went to hell. As soon as Zero, Jean and the bounty hunter family got her out of the prison the angel and her son got checked at the hospital as a precaution. Mitsuko’s profession as a pediatric nurse often put her at risk to be exposed to many illnesses, and diseases, including violence from combative patients, and her time at Justice Peak treating criminals was no different. In the weeks prior to being stationed at the hellish prison, Mitsuko did her best to prepare herself with medical supplies that would protect her and her colleagues health as she knew that her boss wouldn’t have been providing them with supplies or prioritizing workplace safety.
Caring for the health of the prisoners at Justice Peak wasn’t a problem for her as their crimes didn’t influence whether or not she provided care- Mitsuko was kind and caring to all and she took her responsibility as a nurse very seriously, but even more seriously once Zero and Syani got her and Matthew to the hospital, Mitsuko prioritized her son’s health first. He had a heart condition for life and she didn’t want her son to get sick. The nurses that weren’t assigned at Justice Peak were requested immediately by Mitsuko’s boss’ supervisor Kathy to form a triage station for the nurses that were so that they could get checked out medically when they had returned from the prison because Jean had called and explained the situation.
Matthew’s medical examination went well and when it was his mother’s turn to get examined he and Zero stayed at the angel’s side. The medical examination for Mitsuko was a lengthy process and it was advised that she have monthly medical checkups going forward, because of her profession as a nurse. It was also advised that she take a break from working at the hospital because it was clear to the medical personnel examining her that Mitsuko’s body has reached its limit, and that spending the holidays with her family will help her recover some of her lost energy.
In addition Mitsuko spoke up to the medical personnel and started to ask questions about seasonal fatigue, because the angel had noticed that she experiences a lack of energy late November to February, but for the longest time didn’t understand what was going on with her. Being diagnosed with depression earlier in the Summer had helped Zero and Mitsuko become more aware about mental health, and how they can take care of themselves and each other.
Now pregnant with her third child, it was imperative that Mitsuko took better care of herself, and so the medical personnel had explained that seasonal fatigue was common, and many things could cause it such as: the increased family gatherings for Christmas holidays, the change in weather, the time change (it gets darker earlier at this time of year) and so on, but there were many things that Mitsuko could do to alleviate her symptoms such as: buying a salt lamp, going for light walks, increasing her vitamin D intake, playing a colorful game, making use of the extra sunlight when the weather is not dreary, drawing, and making her living space more cozier, and taking an extra nap if needed.
In the three months since the events at Justice Peak, Zero and Mitsuko spent a lot of time making their living space cozier which included their living room and bedroom and spending time together was a huge bonus. With Zero being swamped with work they had to change up their routine for a little while, but he was always there to help out his wife, especially since she was pregnant. They even noticed that their sleep schedules were messed up once the evening hours hit as they would go to bed at 8PM, but wake up at midnight. It was during those moments that they made use of their extra time together. As much as Zero hated games, he did humor his wife and played cards with her when they couldn’t get back to sleep, or they would sneak into the inn’s kitchen and make a midnight snack together.
The little things that they did together nurtured their relationship.
Matthew on the other hand spent two weeks right after the event at Justice Peak staying with his aunt Syani as she needed to recover her energy after she teleported their family and the nurses to the hospital. While at his treasured aunt’s place he helped Syani with cooking, cleaning, taking care of his little cousin Siofra, and even helped with meal preparation while also doing his homework before Winter break starts tomorrow. His mom had called earlier and said that she would be coming over since she wanted to check in on Syani and also wanted to spill the delicious tea with her about the ex-boyfriend Neji, since Syani was curious about the previous relationship of her sister’s.
As a thank you to Syani for her assistance at Justice Peak, Mitsuko also got her a Christmas gift, as well as a gift for her niece just in case they was unable to make it to the Cipher annual tree decorating at Mitsuko’s home. Once the angel arrived at Syani’s place they all exchanged hugs with each other and the angel made herself comfortable on her sister’s couch. “Here sis I have something for you. To thank you for your help at the prison and just in case you are unable to make it to my annual tree decorating. Zero’s at home getting the tree out from storage as well as the decorations for when I come back.” She gave her sister a cute holiday mug and for her niece Mitsuko gave Siofra a Disney charm bracelet building kit hat she make with her mom and wear during the holiday season. “I love you. Thank you for helping me, and taking care of my son for the two weeks, even though it was his idea.”
