[After the events in 48 hours. 48 hours has not ended yet but will shortly. This post is just a summary of events that happened afterward to help wrap up this portion of the story arc. Please also note that some creative liberties have been taken, and an END THREAD will be written]
Mitsuko took a few days to recover her energy after the hellish events at Justice Peak, and had remained at the Bounty Hunters HQ because she was too tired to go home. Naturally, Zero Matthew, Jean, Hunter, and Eve remained by her side and made sure she was alright. Zero wasn’t okay with what had taken place- and in fact he was very angry, so angry that not even a punching bag would suffice. Zero was completely disgusted that not only was his wife sent to Justice Peak, but the nurses had worked for hours and didn’t even get food or water. At least Zero, didn’t even see a place where the nurses had food and water supplies just for them.
The whole work assignment was so disorganized it didn’t even consider the health and safety of the nurses, and his wife was one of them. A silent hero who did her best to ensure that those who needed in-patient care at the prison got it. Mitsuko went as far as to request a transfer for the juveniles that didn’t need to be thrown and locked up in this prison in the first place. From what she saw there were gaps in Justice Peak, and there were some people that didn’t need to be sentenced there. The transfer she requested focused on two groups of specific prisoners: prisoners that were able to succeed in a rehabilitation program, and prisoners that had specific medical needs that just couldn’t be met at a place like Justice Peak- such as a pregnancy or a disability. Aside from that though, the rest of criminals who did terrible things were left at Justice Peak for the rest of their lives.
The request was granted by her supervisor’s boss who was nicer than the person she worked under, and when Mitsuko’s supervisor’s boss got word at how this was set up, she was incredibly pissed. Mitsuko’s supervisor was called in to the office and was under some serious disciplinary action. Meanwhile, Zero kept a close eye on his wife. Even though he had a scowl on his face, his eyes showed love whenever he looked at his wife. He hated that she was so hungry, tired, and dehydrated, and that she had to work in that place that nearly killed her.
Zero did everything he could to get her strength back up, but on the other side he just wanted to comfort her as well as himself. This situation was just too much and it terrified him. It terrified him so much that once his wife was looking better, he had a gentle talk with her. He shared his feelings with her- not so that she could apologize, or feel bad for who she is as a person, but just so that she understands that he couldn’t be without her. Him receiving her will terrified him.
Reading it made him feel incredibly sick. But Zero balanced the heaviness of the conversation with letting her know how proud he was of her. He doesn’t want her to change, because she is one-of-a-kind. The husband and wife cried together, and after Zero shooed people away just so they could have some privacy, and shut the door, and they comforted each other by lovemaking. It wasn’t passionate, it wasn’t for pleasure, but it was soft, focused on comfort, kept in mind Mitsuko’s current physical wellness, and expressed how he loves his wife. She was his forever soulmate.
Afterward, Mitsuko had gotten called in by her supervisor’s boss, but not before asking how she was feeling. Zero rolled his eyes a little and wondered why they just couldn’t give Mitsuko a break. The Supervisor’s boss had explained that they were understandably short staffed and they could use her help if she was up for it. Zero gave his wife a bit of the side-eye hoping that she’d say no, but then he got an idea in his head. He’d go with her. He wanted to confront his wife’s supervisor about what happened, and this may be his only opportunity before the dipshit was fired. Zero wanted to say what was on his mind to this asshole, and he wouldn’t be holding anything back.
Jean came along as well, and when the head of the bounty hunters step in you know it’s serious business. They went to Jowston Hospital using the bounty hunter car which Zero drove and when they got there Zero and his wife’s supervisor met face-to-face. as Zero held his beloved wife’s hand, he stood there quietly as he stared the man down, the signature Cipher blue eyes searing his soul.
Then Zero did it.
He punched his wife’s supervisor effectively knocking the man off his feet, and over his desk.
“Zero oh my god.” Mitsuko held her husband tighter and while Zero didn’t go physically apeshit on the man, he allowed his words to cut him down instead.
“You. Piece. Of. Shit. How the fuck do you going on living knowing that those nurses were doing what they were assigned to do, but they had no food or water?! Were you trying to kill them? Trying to kill my wife?! I nearly lost my wife because of you! She was exhausted when she came out of the prison. Hungry, thirsty.. only a damn energy bar in her system! Were you so drunk on authoritative powers that you didn’t care about the safety and wellbeing of her and her colleagues?! I let her go because she’s kind. I wasn’t expecting her to be starving, and working as if she was a slave.” Zero looked over at his wife, and took a minute to draw strength from her by being at his side, then he looked at the dipshit.
"Don’t you ever come near her again. Your days are numbered.”
Zero then took his wife and they left the hospital, and Jean gave Mitsuko’s supervisor a warning. A dark warning. “We will do whatever is necessary to make sure that you are fired. And not just a slap on the wrist either. I’m you have some nasty secrets that you don’t want exposed. I would hate to be you. You’ll see Zero and I again. Have a good day.”
