The Angel Trap
PS. I Love You
Night Shift)
Mitsuko decided to leave the Alamo Inn and travel to the Bounty Hunter HQ with her adopted father Jean. He had some administrative work to do up there, so Mitsuko asked if she could drive him, and spend the day with him. She hadn’t been to HQ in years ever since her husband had asked her to give up the profession due to her pregnancy and just the overall danger of it. She remembers crying a lot that day after she had turned in her equipment. It hurt her to let go of the profession because it meant that she wouldn’t have been able to see Zero daily and be in the same country as him, because she was on maternity leave and Zero was the only one working to support them at the time. As dangerous as the profession was she had enjoyed being a trio with Hunter and Zero for a while, and when she had to let it go, she did so with a smile on her face at first but then late at night she just cried. She knew that everyone who cared about her was right.
Bounty hunting was NOT for her. It wasn’t suited for her, as she wouldn’t be able to wrap her head around the many deaths that happened daily in Veyyard. But it still hurt to let it go. It’s been many, many years since then and now her son was a teenager, but still having to let go of her bounty hunting job was very hard because it meant that she didn’t get to see her husband very often if he was super busy working and providing for them and their unborn child. Jean had asked Mitsuko if she was sure that she wanted to step into HQ, especially if it would bring back any painful memories of loneliness from that time, and Mitsuko said that she was okay with visiting and she wasn’t going by herself. She was going with her adopted dad, and she’d figured she could spend the day with him and create something for her family. A special item that would allow them all to stay in touch in cases of an emergency. To make this unique item, she needed some materials and a little bit of angelic magic. She had the angelic magic, but she needed some materials and she knew Jean had plenty at HQ. It took them a few hours to get into Arthera but once they arrived and her car was parked, Mitsuko helped Jean inside.
Stepping inside HQ was surreal. A lot of memories when she was in her early twenties took place here, and when she spent the night with Zero at this very place because it was so late out, and everyone insisted that she stay the night with them. Zero of course was elated especially since they were together romantically. And very very in love, and she missed him and he missed her. Then when evening came and Zero and her were together in his bedroom well…. they ended up conceiving Matthew after some open communication of course. They did use protection but it broke… and their child was conceived and became a part of their wedding. Jean placed a hand on her shoulder which snapped her from her swirling memories and she smiled tears welling up in her eyes. “Wow… It was SO hard to say good bye to this place. I know Zero was relieved that I did and that I would be safer in Sougen…. but… that was one of the hardest things I had to do… My pregnancy was the greatest blessing as it meant that Zero and I can have and raise our family… but it at times became lonely because Zero was the only one working just to support us. I was on maternity leave. Paid maternity leave. But his income really made the difference so that Matthew could be born into this world without worry or concern. I didn’t want to say goodbye to being a bounty hunter. But Zero loves me so much that even if he had to be strict with me about giving it up, I know it was for the best.”
Jean and Mitsuko sat down at a table where they began talking some more. Now it was Mitsuko’s turn to get Jean’s fatherly support. “To thank Zero for taking care of me for all of these years.. no matter how strict he had to be.. I want to make something for him. It’s something for the whole family but I wanted to start with Zero’s first. I wanted to make him an angel glass. It’s my form of the Witches glass that I’ve read about in a fantasy novel. It’s so that he, and I can stay connected with our children and with each other. It does function as a watch, but also as an emergency communication device, that works in an emergency, even if supernatural powers were interfering with cellphones it wouldn’t impact the Angel’s glass. Because it’s made with.. angelic magic. And with my skills as an artist I’ll be able to make it from scratch. I just need any and all materials you have lying around.”
