Hi everyone,
So I’ve been spending my Friday going through old threads that I left unfinished for almost a decade and I can’t believe that not only did I leave RP behind so quickly- especially after Mitsuko got married and had her first child but up until now these last 10-11 years have felt like a blur that I can barely remember all of my real life events in detail or to pinpoint one single reason why I left DDE and deleted my account. Deleting my account seemed like such a drastic thing but the important thing is I was able to get a fresh new account and start again and have all my characters under one account which I think was a good thing!
I do want to apologize for leaving so many threads unfinished though I had plenty with Zero and not every one was closed off. Instead they collected dust as time went on, and nothing happened with the exploration of Matthew’s character as a kid, so it made more sense for me to age him up into a teenager which is easier for me to play as. I have been keeping him in a main thread with both of his parents and Jean, because I needed him to have a safe space to explore this world that he was born into. [P.S. I love you thread)
His parents have been able to help in his growth and development as an individual but I am slowly letting him branch out and explore other places of the domain, using his photography project as the catalyst to not only meet other characters, but to also face an obstacle when he leaves the safety net of his parents, while being reassured at the same time that even when he does find himself in a sticky situation his parents will be there for him in a heartbeat. [The Angel Trap Thread] Zero and Mitsuko can’t protect him from everything, but they can help him whenever he needs it. Children need that kind of stability and comfort in their lives- to know that whenever they make a mistake then it’s okay, and it’s safe to make mistakes! And Matthew needs to learn this too- that just because he ended up in a place that he shouldn’t be doesn’t mean his parents will love him any less. They will help him bounce back from this setback.
I guess through RP I’m being that parent that I needed when I was a teenager going through many life transitions. And that’s one of the reasons why Mitsuko is so special to me- she’s that sister, friend, mom that everyone deserves and yes she may have trouble setting boundaries for herself at times, but she will never lose sight of who she truly is.
I came back to DDE to see how Mitsuko and Zero’s lives were shaping up as a married couple because even when I left DDE a decade ago and nuked my accounts with it I never really forgot Mitsuko. Or Zero. Or Matthew. But I wasn’t in a space where I could come back to DDE. I did stop by a few times just to say hi in the C-box or to share a life update but that was as far as I went. I didn’t RP or anything. But I have been back for at least two months now and it's been a joy to reconnect with the character that started it all for me.
Mitsuko was a character that was born from an old character idea. Like many people in DDE a lot of us started out at Yokai High. I started a bit later than most so by the time I created Noriko or at least wrote her profile on Yokai High I think many people were starting to scatter elsewhere so I don’t think I had a chance to RP as her. So Mitsuko was born from that scrapped character idea and thankfully it stuck! Mitsuko’s development was impacted over the years from her relationships with other characters, her countless friendships, her family and so on.
In fact, I couldn’t even develop Mitsuko well if it weren’t for the people that reached out to collaborate with me, and wanting to fit into her story. Mitsuko’s brother Jake was created by Iku, and she had approached me about it because at 16 I had met a guy outside of my school that I had a major crush on, and it turned out he had a crush on me and had eyes on me from the minute we met each other- it didn’t last of course but at 16 it felt like my entire world! So I told Iku about it and she created Mitsuko’s brother LOL.
Sadly the Jake I knew in real life and shared a summer romance with died a few years ago from a brain tumor, so his name lives on through Iku’s character. I’ll always remember how special he made me feel when I was a teenager. I’m glad I met him.
Neiji the ninja- This connection happened on its own and this character became Mitsuko’s first boyfriend. It took me by surprise when this happened because it was so unexpected. It was sad that it didn’t last but like in real life sometimes certain relationships are only meant for a time, and we move forward as we begin to heal. I think now that Mitsuko has talked about this relationship with her husband she was able to finally let it go in a much more healthier away and put it behind her.
Zero- Zero and Mitsuko’s relationship was meant to be a best friend relationship but as I RPed well things happened on its own and those two just ended up falling in love over time and Mitsuko married and had children. It’s been heartwarming to see that Mitsuko is with the person she’s meant to be with, and with a man that has never left her and absolutely loves her to the moon and back, and wants to spend time with her any chance he can. To see her growth and to see her own dreams come true finally does my heart good. I can slowly wrap up my time in DDE with a smile on my face.
Mitsuko’s development I credit all the people that have interacted with her, and wanted to collaborate with me from behind the scenes. I appreciate the kindness, warmth, and openness you all have shown her and have shown me throughout the years I’ve been here in this fantasy world with all of you. And thank you for providing a safe space for me at this time as I go through a really hard year. Writing has been an outlet since my grandma passed away in January so I’ve had to put many safe spaces in place so I can cope in healthy ways.
Now I am not wrapping up RP right away as there are a few things I want to explore with Mitsuko such as her job as a nurse-- I believe she had issues with a boss of hers during the time Matthew was sick with chicken pox. So I wish to explore that a bit further and I do have a few threads that I created which are new so we’ll see where this all goes! And if you see Matthew in a thread with her, then it's okay to join it anyway. Matthew's the type of kid that's just attached to his mom and parts of it he can't help. I'msure he will grow out of being chained to her hip slowly, but that will take time.
In the meantime, the threads that I had abandoned for a decade or more will be closed since the timeline for Mitsuko is that she’s now a mother and wife and my focus will be on that part of her life as I am finding it hard to go back to really old threads within reason. I have made some exceptions, but I don’t think I can revive all the threads I left behind, as it would be way too much. With that said I hope you enjoy how I will write the ending of the threads that I left behind for a decade.
Thank you all for everything,
-Mitsuko Cipher
