Name: Itsumo Ikitara (Tsu, Kita)
Race: Cat Demon
Age: 16
Class/Occupation: Light and Shadow Mage
Country of Origin: Unknown, He was raised at The Yakusho Temple of Ame Mura
Current Residence: There is no place he can currently call 'home' but he tends to hang around in Kumo, often spending his nights at the Temple of Kayjun.
Background: Itsumo grew up an orphan, abandoned as a toddler with no recollection of his caregivers before then or anything. He could not speak and could barely walk, but he tried to walk to some kind of place on this dark and cold night. Rain mixed with his tears and thunder drowned out his cries as he fell against a wall in the middle of some small town in a country that always seemed to rain. He curled up into himself, wet rags hanging onto his body as he tried to find some warmth with his body in a circle. He was startled awake early in the morning as a bag was thrown out next to him. He yelped and cried some more, sneezing and coughing as well as he had been struck with a fever. An old man heard his noises and walked around the wall to find a small little boy with some cat features laying there crying coughing and sneezing. The man scooped the small boy in his arms and carried him inside. It was the Yakusho Temple of Ame Mura; a place for healing and meditation amidst the almost constant downpour of rain and lightening.
The old man changed the boy's clothes, gave him a hot bath tucked him into a warm bed. He brought the boy hot soup and tea during the day to help him get well and monitored his temperature to make sure he would get well. He brought a cool cloth and set it on the boy's forehead after having him eat something and sat there with him for hours to make sure he slept well. Once the boy was better, the old man decided to try communicating with him. He told the boy that he was the priest of the temple, Naosu, and that he would take care of him from now on. He asked the boy for a name, but when none was supplied he realized that he would have to name the boy. He called him Itsumo Ikitara - always live.
Being raised in a temple of healing, Itsumo's abilities began to be realized. The meditation ceremonies that he had begun to take part in as a young child were more successful each time he was there. Realizing this, Naosu took Itsumo aside one morning and spoke to him of a power he felt rising inside the boy. Itsumo wasn't sure of what this meant and Naosu didn't know either what all this boy could do, so he tested him. He developed a training course for healing, bringing in wounded animals and people and had Itsumo train everyday to help as many as he could. He taught Itsumo all about the workings of the body and made him meditate daily to discover his own body and the world around him. As time went on, other powers seemed to develop. When Itsumo was scared, he would try to shrink into the shadows. Naosu saw him hide there but noticed that once he began to enter the shadows, he could not see him. He had Itsumo practice going in and out of shadowy areas when he was normal as well and try to recreate the illusion of being invisible.
When he reached his tenth birthday, the day he arrived at the temple being considered as his second, it was the first time in months that the sun was actually shining and the air was dry. Itsumo had a small gathering out front. They ate and chatted in a circle on the ground, celebrating in the coming of this miracle child. On this day, a stranger entered the temple walls. Naosu walked over to this stranger to greet him, but he was struck down by this man's staff. His flicked his hood back to reveal a sinister face as he looked at the circle. Itsumo stood in defense, walking towards the stranger but keeping a distance from his weapon. The stranger spoke briefly then went in to attack. Having no previous battle skills, Itsumo just moved as he did played around and ducked. He moved around the man and jumped onto his back, pushing him to the ground then ran over to Naosu to help him up and heal his bruise. However, before he could reach him, the stranger had already gotten up and smacked Itsumo in the stomach, flinging him away.
As the man stood above him, ready to bring his instrument down on Itsumo's head, the boy held his hands in front of his face, palms facing up. The light of the sun caught inside of his hands and reflected against the stranger's eyes, temporarily blinding him. Itsumo looked up as the man screamed and dropped his weapon. He stood and held his palms out almost instinctively as the light gathered in his palms like small orbs. He pulled his arms back a moment then flung the orbs forward, smacking them into the stranger and knocking him down. The stranger, unable to see but now feeling a burning pain on his chest and abdomen, shouted his surrender. He scooted away as he heard Itsumo walking towards him. Everyone who had seen that was now shocked at the boy who could heal and harm.
After healing Naosu and the stranger then sending him on his way, the other men approached Naosu and told him of the harm he brought to the stranger and that he could harm any one of them in such a way if he desired. They wanted the boy gone, no matter what Naosu said to defend the boy's right to stay at the temple. For the next year, as Itsumo trained himself with those light blasts, people looked at him in detest for his destructive power. Naosu was the only one who still admired his abilities in entirety, knowing that attack was what had saved them that time and what could save them in the future. Itsumo was noticing more and more the dirty looks Naosu was also getting now for continuing to defend him and, feeling he should not subject his master to any more of those looks, Itsumo decided he should leave.
He gathered a few supplies in a small pouch and left a note on his bed to apologize for the trouble his existence there had caused and that he would not be returning. He wished Naosu would be safe and continue helping those unfortunate in their lives and that he was eternally thankful for all that he had given him. Itsumo journeyed across many lands to find a place to remain for a while. His journeys, after many years, led him to a temple in Kumo. Although he was not necessarily welcomed there by the priests, Itsumo didn't mind. He would sleep under the overhang in the late evenings and leave by early morning to spend his days. He would often make his way into some deserted areas to train his powers again, unsure if they would come in handy sometime or not.
Personality: When looking at him, Itsumo appears to be a weak and sensitive young cat demon. That, for the most part, is true. His feelings are often easily hurt. However, when faced with harsh remarks he thinks of the reasons he was talked about like so. In doing this, he is constantly trying to better himself, although he sometimes just makes things worse for a little while depending on the comment. Itsumo doesn't really have anything he cares for or believes in. He doesn't make close friends too easily for reasons he has yet to figure out, though he suspects it's because he's not a very likeable being. Which, perhaps, is why he is constantly on a mission to improve himself.
Weapon(s)/ Abilities: He does not wield anything. His Light abilities include small blasts of light energy and minimal healing. His Shadow abilities include invisibility in shadowy places and poison extraction (it absorbs poison from the creature itself or from a person's body, the poison is then nullified or reused as a form of attack if necessary). He also knows a minimal amount of martial arts moves, most of them having come to him naturally while playing around with the way his body can move.
Strengths: Itsumo's only real physical strength is his cat-like reflexes. It doesn't make him super fast, but his quick movements have helped him escape from a number of troubles. Itsumo also rarely is struck with sickness. Although he is a sensitive boy, Itsumo tries to change whatever others find to be negative about himself. Sometimes those negative comments will lead Itsumo to discovering an inner strength that can keep him going. Itsumo cares about others more than himself and will push himself harder than usual to protect another being.
Weaknesses: Itsumo is really weak physically. He cannot lift any heavy weight that most males his age probably could, no matter how much he may try while just ending up face-planted on the floor. His feelings are easily hurt and he's not the most emotionally stable person. Although he wont lash out immediately in anger, it usually takes a moment of weakness to realize any reasoning for a harsh comment towards him. Sometimes trying to change something in himself that someone found to be negative only makes him more vulnerable as well.
