Remi had just finished a few clean hits in a building near the edge of the city. He was in and out in a flash and managed to do it without making it too messy and without getting blood on himself. These clean hits were much preferred. He hated having to keep ditching trench coats because they get bloody from time to time.
He headed away from the scene without being the spotted, leaving it to become yet another unsolved crime. Most of Remi's actual hits never became solved crimes. If anything, the police and bounty hunters may only have about fourty or so of Remi's killings on record knowing for sure that Kagetsuki was the one who committed those murders. In truth, Remi had already killed a number reaching well into the hundreds.
The time was around two in the morning. As Remi neared the center of the city, he eventually climbed onto the roof of a low building. He slowly made his way across a few rooftops until he got to a slightly higher perch.
He stood on the top of the only slightly slanted roof, staring out across the city. Without tearing his eyes away from the view, Remi took out a cigarette and put it in his mouth. He then pulled out a rather plain black lighter and lit it. Remi put the lighter back in his pocket as he inhaled on the cigarette. He used his right hand to hold onto the cigarette now, pulling it out of his mouth to blow the smoke out into the air, slightly obstructing his view of the city for a moment.
Remi slowly sat down on the rooftop and took another puff of smoke from his cigarette. He enjoyed these peaceful, dark nights. Crimes still occurred throughout the night in Arthera, but Remi was unconcerned with the occasional cries of help he heard from time to time.
As he sat there, smoking and looking out over the wicked city, Remi began to think. A smiling face began to become clearer in his mind as he recalled Kyori once more. Remi's expressions never changed, even when he thought of this girl. He simply continued to smoke and stare out over the city.
Remi wondered what she was up to lately, hoping that she had definitely made it out of the city and was taking her time enjoying life on the other side of Arthera's walls, outside of Veyyard entirely. He had spent hours with her when they were younger talking big about the world for the very purpose of getting her to want to leave Veyyard and explore. Veyyard was no place for someone so young and innocent that he had come to care for.
Remi lifted his eyes towards the moon, now slowly leaning back so he was laying down on the slightly slanted rooftop. The moon was full but slightly overcast with clouds. Remi continued smoking as he closed his eyes there.
He enjoyed this. The quiet night. The faint breeze. The moon. The cigarette. Alone with his thoughts on a rooftop looking over the city. This was a moment of happiness for Remi.
Remi allowed his thoughts to wander now over various other things. He tried to avoid memories of his killings, but there was really not much else in his life besides death. He was almost like death himself.
After a while, Remi began to hear sounds of someone moving across the rooftops also. It sounded as though the person was getting closer. Without moving, Remi opened his eyes behind his lightly tinted shades and glanced in the direction he heard the noise from.

Usually, while running away from her mob, Syani would sing her 'oh-crap chant' over and over, as if it would lighten whatever deathly situation she was in. Then again, this wasn't her usual mob who's chasing her, they're Veyyard mobs. She had unwittingly accidentally pissed off a group of killers, by simply transporting in the middle of their chase, and now their target had safely ran away.
Doesn't mean that they would stop chasing, they're right behind her.
Well, was behind her, until she flips herself up a sideroof and started running up the roofs now with nimble dexterity. That's probably Syani's only advantage now against a group of killers still running after her. They're right in her trail, running at the side of the building while she's on the roof. 'Oh man oh man oh man oh man, why, random transportation magic, WHY?'
As Syani hops over to another building, she had to balance herself while she's still running by the slanted structure of the roof. Her foot was almost caught up by a tile, so she had her eyes downwards to keep her feet over them for a short moment as she runs, but then as she raises her head back up to the front..
"GYAAAAAHHH!!" The sudden appearance of someone in front of her, someone who's pale especially, caught her too much by surprise, Syani immediately shrieked and lose her balance. Her feet are shuffling on the tiles and her hands are flailing in the air, trying to regain back her balance. Just as she's at the edge of the roof, directly in the range of the mob's fire, her red cloak billowed in the wind.
Immediately, Syani pulled herself away from the edge by using her telekinesis to pull over her cloak into safety. Just in time too, as the bullets began raining upwards, where she was at, hitting some of the tiles. She can hear some expletives from below for having missed her by a hairbreadth, and then fell on her knees and elbows, smacking on the tiles of the roof. "Oh my gosh.." she breathed out shakily, still in shock of how close to death she was.
Now she's crouching right near the man she saw, or the ghost she thought. Too tired and scared by what just happened, the half-vampire slowly lowered herself so her face rested on her crossed arms against the tiles and her cloak acted as a blanket for her. She needs to calm down before she accidentally explode things again.

The figure of a girl running towards him from a ways away slowly came into Remi's view. His eyes were turned towards her, but his head remained straight and facing the sky. He watched her as she almost tripped over the tiles, then also when she finally spotted him and shrieked. The shrill sound made his eyebrows tweak downwards at he closed his eyes for a moment.
He glanced over at her again to see her almost falling off the roof. He finally turned his head a bit as he saw her cape billowing back as if pulled by some force which kept her from falling. The sight was interesting and unusual. He noticed the gun sounds, but seemed as if he had not, just staring at the girl for a moment while she fell on her hands and knees in shock.
Remi faced towards the sky again and pulled the cigarette out of his mouth with his left hand, letting out a breath of smoke. After doing so, he smoothly stood up and headed towards the edge of the roof in view of the men below. He inhaled on the cigarette again as he looked down at the men who stared back up at him threateningly and questioned him of the girl.
Remi let out another breath of smoke as he closed his eyes, looking rather bored. "Not that I care, but that girl you're looking for ran off back that way." He stated simply, pointing behind himself. He inhaled on his cigarette again as he watched the men below for a moment as they pondered if they could trust him. Remi let out the smokey breath again as he began to turn around. "If you don't leave now, you'll miss her."
When his back was to the men, he lifted his right hand in level with his head as if to say bye with that gesture. "Have fun with her." He said, then placed the cigarette back in his mouth as he headed towards the spot where he was before. As he did so, he could hear the men below scurry off around the building and in the direction Remi pointed for them to go.
Remi stopped in the spot where he was laying down before, and pulled out his cigarette with his left hand and exhaled. He glanced over at the girl for a moment before turning around and placing the cigarette back in his mouth. He sat down on the roof again, his left leg straight in front of him and his right knee raised. He leaned forward a bit with his right elbow on his right knee, and pulled the cigarette out again to exhale.
Staring straight forward as the smoke cleared away, Remi spoke again. "What did you do to piss them off so much?" He asked simply, with a bored expression, as he placed the cigarette back in his mouth. He leaned back slightly to glance over at the girl again, awaiting her answer.

Syani is visibly shaking as she tries to breathe slowly, focusing to only calm herself, she'll worry of the threat later once she gets a hold of herself. As she laid there silently, she could hear footsteps, possibly made by the person who shocked her half to death earlier, and then the shouts of the killers below.
When she could hear the voice of the stranger, baiting them with a lie instead of where she really is, Syani's eyes widened. She stayed still on the roof, still laying down on her stomach there with her forehead resting on her arms, and then she could hear the men below leaving. At this, Syani let out a breath she never knew she was holding and closed her eyes in relief.
The man's footsteps sounded clearly in her ear, and then the sound of him settling himself to where he was. Syani didn't move from her spot, her heartbeat still haven't slowed down yet and her feet are killing her. When the man questioned her, Syani finally lifted her face and tries to find the man's face. She could only see a part of it, because he's not looking directly at her.
"I teleported." The answer she gave him is short and vague, so she explained further. "In the middle of them threatening someone. I couldn't control where I teleported unless I've been there before." She ended with a worried glance to the environment around her, whipping her head to take a clearer view of where she's at. "...I've never been here before."
Pulling herself up to sit on her knees, Syani looked further. The dark smokes, buildings, alleys, plus the sounds of gunshots and screams occasionally. "Oh no, is this Veyyard?" Worry is clear on her face as she looks back at the man.[/font]

His blank expression didn't show it, but Remi was rather curious about the idea of this girl teleporting. He had never experienced such a thing before. Magic users were more of a rarity in Veyyard. Remi faced forward and removed his cigarette with his right hand again and exhaled the smoke.
As he faced away, he heard her say that she'd never been here before. That wasn't really a surprise, he thought, and closed his eyes while placing the cigarette back in his mouth again and inhaled.
After her questioning if this place was Veyyard, Remi let out another exhale of smoke and opened his eyes again, looking over the city. "You are near the heart of Arthera in Veyyard. This city is bordered with walls to keep the scum of the earth contained."
He glanced back over at the girl again, sizing her up briefly. "You probably wouldn't last very long on these streets." He stated, facing forward again and inhaling on his cigarette that was starting to get nearer to the end of its lifespan.

Syani's expression dropped considerably when the man explained that this isn't just Veyyard, "I'm in Arthera?!" She shrieked a little too loudly, her hands at the sides of her head as panic began to dawn in her system.
"No. No no no no..." Spinning her head left and right as the man explained how the city is bordered, she could definitely see the walls that contained the city. "Oh no.." Syani was rarely careful in teleporting, but she does try to keep her luck up in maintaining her teleportations away the general direction of Veyyard. Seems today isn't her lucky day.
When the stranger spoke again, commenting that she won't last long, Syani whipped her head directly towards his direction, a slightly angered face mixed in her worried expression. "No, you don't understand, I cannot be in a place where blood can easily be spilled..!" Raising her head up to the night's sky and locating the full moon, her eyes widened. "Tonight especially!"
Reaching in her cloak, Syani pulled out an object that looks like a compass and stared down at it. There's actually nothing on it, no screen, no needle point anywhere, just blank. Blank to the normal eyes that is, Syani can see something in there. "I can't teleport.. In 3 hours, are you kidding me?!" She actually yelled that at the object, and now her crazy antics is finally revealed.
Pocketing back that compass with an angry huff, her eyes then suddenly reverted back to the man's direction and sparkled slightly as if she's remembering something. "Oh! By the way, thank you. I don't know why you did that, but thank you." Quickly pulling out a purple vial out of her magical cloak, Syani presents the small vial to the stranger.
"As thanks, here. Just smash this under your feet, and you'll be transported somewhere~ Randomly, I'm afraid, but somewhere. Very good for a quick escape~" Her smile dropped at the word escape, remembering she herself cannot do so at this moment. "Shame I can't use this yet, my particles aren't fully returning, and teleporting would be bad--' the rest of her words are in mumbles as she finally ended her noisy ramblings with a sigh.

Remi closed his eyes as the girl shrieked again about being in Arthera. When the girl stated that he didn't understand, and that she can't be somewhere where blood could be spilled easily, Remi looked at her straight in the eyes from behind his lightly tinted shades. He was curious about her, although you couldn't tell by looking at his blank expression or cold eyes.
Remi's eyes closed again with a slight twitch of his eyebrows as the girl yelled once more. He was about to tell her not to be so loud, when she decided to thank him. Remi opened his eyes again as he stared at her blankly. He didn't reach out for the item she was presenting him. Frankly, teleporting to a random location didn't sound like a great idea for himself.
"I won't accept it." He stated about the vial she tried to give him. He faced forward again and took another puff of smoke from his slowly dwindling cigarette. "As for why I did that... There's really no reason. I just did it on a whim." He said while closing his eyes again. "Personally, I don't really care what happens to you." He inhaled on his cigarette again with his eyes closed, then opened them again while releasing the smoke from his lungs.
He turned to look at the girl again after that. "I suggest you not shriek or yell so loudly here. While most people ignore cries and yells, some are attracted to such sounds. You'll only bring yourself closer to death that way." He faced forward and inhaled on his cigarette again, letting it out slowly as he flicked the little butt of it off the roof. "I don't know if you're just scared of blood or what... but if you don't want to die, I suggest leaving Veyyard as soon as possible."

Syani blinked at this man for a moment when he rejected her offer, and then a childish pout began to take form on her lips. "Hey..! I'm aiming to be a very helpful old woman who randomly gives magical artifacts to strangers, come on." Still, she's not pushing the vial to him and just pocketed it back in her cloak. Just because the transporting vial is unneeded by someone else, it's always precious to her.
Hearing him stating that he'd done his deed on a whim, Syani sighed. "Fiiine, Veyyard people are so strange.. I'll do this then." Syani placed a finger on the man's cigarette, right at the end where its burning and all the ashes that had fallen off from it gathered around. When Syani pulled her finger, the cigarette reformed itself in its original form like new as her finger left, but the tip of it doesn't looked burned.
"Oh." Realizing that, Syani blew the tip slightly and it burnt into a small flame before smoke begins to come out of it. "There we go!" Ironic how this man had saved her life and she rewarded him with the risk of lung cancer. Syani only tilted her head sideways at his warning of not being too loud, and then places the same finger she used for alchemizing the cigarette, right on her lips while nodding repeatedly.
"Okay okay, I want to leave, but I can't teleport, so I gotta leave manually. Can you point me towards the exit or..?" Looking at the man hopefully, she clasped her hands in front of her in a wishful manner.

Remi stared at his cigarette as the strange girl touched the burning end of the cigarette with her finger. He raised one eyebrow as he wondered why she was doing that and how long she could tolerate touching the end of a lit cigarette. As he wondered, he saw the cigarette collecting itself back together. His other eyebrow raised slightly as well in surprise as he now had a fully restored cigarette.
It was impressive little magic, though rather strange to him. Noticing that she realized the end was no longer lit after restoring it, he saw her lean towards it and blow on it to relight it. Interesting, he thought to himself as he stared at the cigarette a moment longer before pulling it back towards his lips and inhaling on it.
Remi stared at her with a sideways glance as she asked him to point her towards the exit. He exhaled as he stared a moment longer before looking forward again and closing his eyes for a moment. He put the cigarette back in his mouth as he leaned forward and stood back up on his feet. He turned to face the girl properly and reached his hand out towards her while his other hand pulled the cigarette out again. He exhaled more smoke as he looked down at her, waiting for her to take his hand and stand up.
"I'll lead you to the nearest exit I know of." He didn't have to do this favour for her. He wasn't even sure himself why he was willing to help her. Something about her loud and boisterous attitude reminded him of someone perhaps. He reasoned to himself that he might as well take a stroll and maybe grab a drink somewhere.

With her hands still clasped together in front of her, Syani watched as this man slowly pushes himself. Suddenly, he dropped his hand, right in front of her face, extending it towards her. "Eh?" She lets out a confused sound as her eyes searched for his, seeing the smoke fogging his face as he exhaled.
It was only after he vocally lets his intention known that Syani's face brightens up. She was so happy, she completely didn't register his hand was a sign to help her up, she just bounce up to her feet on her own and seemed like she wanted to scream. Fortunately, her brain recalled this man's warning to her and she immediately brings up a hand to her lips to stop herself.
Syani looked up at this man, clearly very happy, and whispered, "Thank you sooo much..!"
Now getting a hang of volume control, she immediately introduced herself, still very excited but mellower, "My name is Syani! What's yours?"
