In the late evening during the setting of the late summer's sun, a small figure in a dark red dress made her way out into a desolate place. She wandered, aimless and alone, with a melancholic expression and painful memories of lives past.
The setting sun on her right splashed its last bits of colour onto her face as she walked on into the early night until she reached the edge of a valley so long and wide that she had no means of crossing.
As her feet stopped at the edge of the valley, a few tears began to slowly release from her eyes as a solemn song quietly escaped her throat.
She lifted her hands weakly up to her chest as she sang quietly out across the valley with tears slowly streaming down her cheeks.
This song was not one known to others, it was not even written by herself but, rather, a life of hers from a separate time far in the past. One that knew much suffering and also much love.
As the memories of this life, and the meaning of the song from lives even prior to the one who wrote it, flowed throughout her mind, she sang, staring up now at the sky with her teary face. She glimpsed at the stars and closed her eyes.
As she neared the end of her song, she took another step forward, the ends of her feet now over the ledge. As she finished the last few words of the song, she leaped off the edge and slowly opened her eyes as she fell into the valley, darkened by the night.
She closed her eyes as a small mass of smoke began to release from behind her and take shape into smokey wings. Shortly after, her descent to the ground slowed to a stop just above the bottom.
She opened her eyes again and stared down at the ground, then slowly turned her eyes up to the sky and placed her feet on the ground. She raised her right hand and clenched it into a fist over her heart as she began to run a few steps and jump into the air, using her new smokey wings as propellers to carry her back up into the sky.
The song remained on her mind, repeating inside of her, as she rose back out of the valley on the other side from where she had started. She slowly lifted her hands and finally wiped away the tears that had stained her cheeks.
A new expression overtook her face; one filled with anger and hatred with a hidden pain. The smokey wings dissipated from around her as she continued to walk, making her way into a place of thieves and murderers.
