Name: Rayne
Race: Human
Age: 23
Class/Occupation: Killer, Gunner
Country of Origin: Havra, Maire
Country of Residence: Ianne
Background: Rayne grew up in a brothel house, the son of one of the whores there. As such, he had many mothers, but he hated them all. Growing up in an underground business, Rayne met many others in his city that were in other underground businesses. From one of them, he bought a gun with money he stole from the brothel house at the age of fourteen then killed all of the people at the brothel that night.
Immediately after, before the police showed up, Rayne escaped with his gun and ran until he was in a dark alley by himself. There, he was approached by an assassin who had just completed his duties for the night. Rayne pointed the gun at him but was given a deal that if Rayne put the gun down then the assassin would teach him to wield it better.
Rayne took the man up on that offer and ended up living with him for a few years, learning what he could about being a perfect assassin. When he was seventeen, thinking he knew enough, Rayne snuck into the assassin's room in the middle of the night to kill him. Instead, Rayne was hit on the back of the head and subsequently dragged outside and left in the alleyway the assassin first found him with his two pistols and a note saying that he would be killed if he ever returned.
Rayne spent the next couple of years killing people who lived in the underground businesses before moving up to killing regular people. He felt no remorse for any of the lives he took. He felt that the only enjoyment other humans could provide him with was how frightened they looked as he prepared to take their lives.
When Rayne was twenty, he went back for the life of the assassin who had taught him before. He felt confident that he could kill that man, but instead, Rayne was the one who was near death after their encounter. A passerby saw Rayne get shot, unsure from who, and called an ambulance to pick him up and take him to the hospital.
While in the hospital, recovering from a near fatal bullet wound that just missed his heart, Rayne met Maylin. At first, he tried to ignore her, but she slowly wedged her way in. She was almost unbearably kind despite how rude and rough Rayne was towards her. May had been in and out of the hospital most of her life with a heart condition. When Rayne was finally allowed to leave the hospital, May insisted that he stay with her since he had no place to go. May was nineteen and lived alone due to the fact that her parents died when she was sixteen. They had left her a decent sum of money on which she lived off of for the time being.
Rayne reluctantly accepted her offer and slowly grew more fond of her as he stayed with her. Still, he went back to the underground at night to buy two new pistols and continued killing people in secret.
One night, Rayne had cornered someone in an alley with his gun to the man's head. The man said that a curse was now on Rayne. The curse was that every time he killed someone, a number of his hairs would turn gray. When all of the hairs on his head were gray, Rayne would die and go to hell for every gray hair he possessed. If he killed himself or otherwise brought about his own premature death, he would remain in hell for the same amount of time. If he died a more natural death without taking more lives, Rayne would only go to hell for the amount of hairs that were gray. His hair would only turn gray with each murder, not from old age.
Rayne was not a superstitious person and thought the man before him was bluffing, so he killed him anyway then headed back to May's house. When he got there, she was surprised to see a small patch of Rayne's hair was gray. Recalling the curse that he was told of, Rayne rushed to a mirror to see his hair and, sure enough, a patch of it had turned gray.
Rayne spent a while staring at the gray patch of hair in the mirror, thinking about the curse and getting both angry and frightened by it. When he finally moved away from the mirror, ignoring May's questioning of what was wrong, he locked himself in his room and packed his guns away under his bed. He sat on the floor there against the wall for a while, staring at the box under his bed with wide eyes before falling asleep where he sat.
After that night, Rayne never went out without May unless she was at the hospital or he had to work and he planned to never look at his guns again. He had gotten a small job carrying boxes in a factory so that he wasn't too reliant on May's money because he knew her money would eventually run out from all of her medical bills.
They slowly fell in love and, when he was twenty-two, Rayne proposed to May. The day of their marriage was getting closer and closer until one night when May was out alone getting groceries. Rayne was worried when she was taking too long and went to look for her.
When he found her, her body was being raped by two guys in an alley way. Enraged beyond anything before, Rayne quickly attacked them both, snapping the neck of one of them and beating the other to death with the lid of a nearby trash can. When he went back to May's side and tried to see if she was okay, he found out that she was already dead. There were no marks on her body that would have killed her, so he assumed that her heard had given out due to the trauma.
Pissed beyond anything, Rayne carried her back to her home. He left her in her bed then grabbed the guns under his bed. He cleaned them over so they would work properly and loaded them. He placed them in holsters around his waist hidden by his jacket then went out and bought a few containers of gasoline. When he returned to May's house again, he went into her room and stared at her for a bit with an angry and sad expression. He then poured gasoline over her body and around much of the house then set it on fire before leaving for good without looking back.
Rayne located a small gang that the two men who raped May were involved in and killed them all before leaving the country. He didn't have any place in mind, only wishing to escape to some place where he could disappear and live quietly, alone.
Personality: Rayne tends to be quiet and he finds most people to be very obnoxious. Still, he tends to despise those who do evil things more than those merely trying to live in peace despite the fact that he would have killed either of them before the curse was placed on him. Rayne is afraid of death, largely because he knows he will be going to hell for a long time, so he clings to life as best as he can.
He dislikes pointless banter with others and keeps everything about him secretive. People with earnestly kind eyes are the only ones that can throw him off guard a bit. Still, he has no interest in getting too close to anyone else despite how kind they may be. He doesn't like to admit to himself that the reason for this is fear of liking someone else again and something bad happening to someone he liked again.
Weapon(s)/ Abilities: Rayne carries two pistols, one he uses more often and another as backup.
Strengths: Rayne doesn't care for much and, thus, is not really disturbed by much. This allows him to keep his focus and concentration on the task at hand to be fairly easy. He is fairly strong and quick when it counts, but his greatest strength is his aim.
Weaknesses: Rayne's concentration and cool is only broken at thoughts of May. Her memory is the greatest pain in his life. Rayne still occasionally feels pains near his heart from where he was shot. This has, on very rare occasion, even caused him to pass out on the job before.
