Name: Hikari Ria
Race: Half-angel, half-demi-human
Age: 16
Class/Occupation: Light mage, healer, defender
Country of Origin and Residence: Tenka
Background: Twenty-Seven years ago, an angel named Rumius descended from Heaven and revealed himself to a six year old girl who was near death in the slums of Evnae. She had been orphaned and left without a home, a demi-human with no one to care for her. Rumius took pity on the girl and took her with him out of Evnae to a place covered with ice but also with clean air.
There, he raised the girl on his own in a small cabin. He taught her to grow strong and believe in all good things. Rumius would frequently take her to the temple to pray, as he was an angel of Heaven. As she grew and developed, however, he began to feel the temptations of Hell taking over him.
When the girl was sixteen, Rumius entered the girl's bed as she slept and ravaged her young body. Although she did not understand such actions and he began to scare her, she did not resist his actions despite the pain. When the act was done, Rumius received a grave punishment from Heaven as he was stripped of his title and abilities as an angel. His angelic beauty had left him looking older and grotesque, which frightened the girl even more. He would now never let her leave his side as he blamed her for soiling his good spirit.
He took her body numerous times after that and beat her bloody frequently. His ugliness inhabited his very soul now. After a little while, he found out that the girl was pregnant. The wicked idea of having fresh meat to torment excited his wicked heart and he decided to let the girl give birth to their child.
His abuse of the girl did not quit, however, and by the time she was ready to give birth, the girl was very weak and frail. Because of this, she died while giving birth to a baby girl that Rumius decided to name Ria. He held no remorse for the girl that died because of him and grew to hate the innocence of the baby that he held in his arms.
He would often leave Ria crying alone without tending to her basic needs for hours and occasionally days. As she grew older, Rumius began to hit Ria whenever she would utter a sound. Because of this, Ria spent most of her life mute through psychological trauma.
As Ria grew into her fifth year, she began to develop signs of special abilities whenever Rumius would attack her. Small bursts of light would spring forward as she flinched and knock away almost any strike attempting to hit her.
When he realized that she inherited angelic powers, Rumius decided that this would be a way that he could get back at Heaven for stripping him of his angelic abilities. He began to train Ria daily until she collapsed from exhaustion. She would be given constant drills about building shields and sending out attacks. When her powers became exhausted, Rumius would beat her until she was able to pull up a defense against him. Afterwards, he would tell her to clean herself up and heal her own wounds using her powers.
Ria always complied in solemn silence, holding no hatred towards her abusive parent but instead a sadness for his wicked state. When Ria turned fifteen and her powers finally came in full, Rumius noticed the change right away. Driven by wild lust, he attacked her mindlessly. Ria used all of her developed powers to block his attacks, only finally using an offensive attack that killed him right in front of her.
Devastated by her actions, despite them being in self defense, Ria spent the next few weeks in mourning over her father's death. She began to wander around Tenka and came upon the temple in Quazmrl. Unable to speak, Ria simply cried and was comforted in silence by a kind monk of the temple.
Ria began to make daily trips to the temple to pray and carefully work on her skills under the guidance of some of the monks. They knew nothing of such magic themselves but were more than glad to assist the young girl in learning to use her powers for good. There, she also learned to write and communicate through writing as she could not speak. She also began to learn how to write using her powers of light in the air so as not to waste resources.
On the anniversary of her father's death, Ria finally told the monks through her writing in the air of her grave sin. She discussed the kind of life she lived with her father before that but admitted that she only felt pity for such a hateful man. She admitted her fears of using her powers in any way but for defense or healing, never wanting to hurt another person again. The monks brought her peace of mind by telling her that so long as she fights only for peace and love and does not lose her way, she will be able to save countless lives instead of having to take them. They explained to her that the answers to her concerns would come to her in times of trouble and guide her to the right path, so long as she listens to the voice of love in her heart.
With a new peace of mind and a gentle smile on her face, Ria bowed respectably towards the monks and thanked them for everything. She then packed a bag with a few necessities and began to travel the surroundings countries. She was not entirely sure what she was looking for or what she felt she had to do, but she knew that she could not spend her entire life in the solitude of the mountains.
Personality: Ria is very gentle and kind. She would rather give than receive, help than be helped. She would never expect anything in return for her assistance. She views the world with an angelic innocence, seeing the good in everything she passes. When faced with others who seem very wicked or cruel, Ria only sees someone deserving of pity that is in need of salvation.
Ria loves to meet new people, but has a hard time with it sometimes due to her being mute. She has found at times that there are a lot of people averse to getting close to those with strange abilities, so Ria has also become self conscious about revealing her powers to others right away. Without doing so, however, she has no way to communicate her name or good intentions. This has created a discomfort or dissonance over how she should approach others.
Despite her problems, Ria is a very happy and upbeat person. She always thinks only of the positive things in life and always tries to live her life with love and joy. As such, she always tries to spread that love and joy around to others as well.
Weapon(s)/ Abilities: Ria carries no weapons and refuses to use any offensive abilities that she may possess as she still feels sorrow over killing her own father. Ria uses her powers of light mainly to create defensive barriers, heal others and write messages. She will occasionally create wings for herself to be able to fly and small birds to either simply admire or scare away potential threats without hurting them.
Strengths: Ria is strong in her convictions for good and nothing could ever shake that. Her defensive abilities and healing abilities are rather advanced thanks to her abusive father's harsh training. Also because of her father's abuse, Ria has a rather unusually high threshold for tolerating pain.
Weaknesses: Ria still blames herself for her father's death, not having fully forgiven herself for actually killing him. When she is using her powers, she often finds herself thinking about him. This can cause her powers to weaken or cause her to hold back from using them properly which can leave her vulnerable. Ria is unable and unwilling to wield weapons. Her body is not very strong or fast, so she is unable to fight physically and is generally an easy target, especially when her defensive powers are weakened.
