Every now and then, Kieru and Drea enjoyed heading back to Mount Rei to visit other dragons and the Weyr. This was the place where Kieru felt she had finally found her salvation by adopting Drea as her partner. Because of this, complicated emotions would often build inside her whenever they returned.
"He might not be here." Drea said to Kieru, sensing her discomfort. Although she felt comfortable with most of the other riders, Drea knew of the one rider that Kieru felt the most uncomfortable about meeting again, even though it had been years since she'd seen him last.
Drea actually never met the man before herself, only knowing of him through the flashes of Kieru's memories that she is able to see. "I'll just land somewhere for you then go find some of my old friends to play with."
Kieru looked down with a sort of worried look on her face. She looked around at some of the dragons that were flying above them nearer the top of the mountain. "I can't tell if Orphion is here or not..." She thought, a bit worried as she looked back down at Drea then closed her eyes.
She smiled slightly when Drea changed the subject. "Thanks, Drea. You can drop me off near the bottom. I could use the hike." She said as Drea then followed her suggestion and stopped near the bottom.
Kieru hopped off and smiled back at Drea. "Have fun."
"I will!" Drea said happily as she took off to find some of her old friends that were probably flying up near the top of the mountain.
Kieru watched Drea take off, a sad look forming in her eyes again with a faint smile on her lips. She loved this dragon and she did enjoy coming back to this mountain that changed her life. She could just never shake off her nerves whenever she came back here. It seemed like the longer it had been since she had seen him last, the more nervous each visit made her.
She took in a deep breath then and began to make her way up the mountain. She watched her surroundings carefully, remembering how difficult her first trek up this mountain was for her weakened body almost two full years ago. She let out a heavy breath as she shook off those memories and picked up her pace a bit as she climbed the path towards the top, wondering what might await her near the top.

"I can't sense him anywhere near here."
Zephel sighed, despite the strong winds brushing wildly against him. "Well if Tyr's not here..... Argh, we travelled far enough, Orphion. You go and have some fun while we're here." He had initially planned to ask Tyr if he has any known information regarding any cures against memory lost, whether in the folklores amongst dragons or with the magical school he administered. Tyr is standing on one of the highest ranks with both of those comunitities, so he must have known of some information.
"Zephel, you are stressed," Orphion had kindly reminded him, to which Zeph grunted as a reply. It's great that he has been nominated as a dragon rider, Zephel is horrible in speaking out his thoughts the way he wanted it to be, things always comes out wrong in some way. So sharing his mind with Orphion is probably one of the best things that have ever happened to him; because he wouldn't need to speak out everything that annoys him, Orphion would just know.
"Yes, I AM stressed. What are you gonna do about it?" The silver-haired snapped after a bit of hesitation, but somehow, he knew Orphion's answer is noteworthy. "Well, I suggest you should relax for a while and let the winds carry you. You always enjoyed riding the winds."[/i][/color] Yes, this dragon is definitely a part of his soul for suggesting the one perfect thing for this situation.
"Thank you, Orphion. That's actually a great idea. I'm gonna do just that," he smirked, steering Orphion a bit far away from the group of dragons flying in the skies so he wouldn't accidentally rammed on them during his 'exercise', then readying himself. "Do tell me, when exactly did you attained the hobby of wind-surfing, Zephel?"[/b][/i]
The element-wielder had to laugh at the dragon's sudden question and light-heartedly answers, "Since you kept dropping me off during your flight trainings, genius." Right after he said that, Zephel slipped himself off of his blue dragon and was falling a few hundred miles down with nothing as his safety net. Nothing, except for his mastery of the air element.
Zeph opened his arms wide as he fell backwards, the wind is rushing against his back and he closes his eyes in peace. It's harder to breathe in mid-air, so he had held his breath as he fell, zooming down to the earth like a shooting star.
Then, he snapped his eyes opened and did a backflip in the air, his arms arched like a sort of crescent at his sides, his palms facing outwards, and then slowly moved his arms inwards in a sort of meditating pose.
The whole time as he did that, the wind seems so unnatural as it's actually spiralling around Zephel as he fell. The man almost seems like he's gliding rather than falling, actually. Soon as he felt the earth is close enough, Zeph pressed both his palms downwards, and immediately, a strong gust of air was shot under him, bounced off the earth, and ricocheting Zephel upwards slightly to soften his landing.
And landed he did on the peak of Mount Weyr's with a frontal roll, and then he is perfectly back standing on his feet. "YEAH!" Zephel unexpectedly punched the air with a happy spiralling jump to let out the excitement of feeling the adrenaline he had missed so much.
"That was AWESOME!" He yelled to particularly no one, but seeming to just let it out for the sake of releasing the adrenaline pumping inside him. It has certainly been a while that he had done something like that, and it satisfies him that he still got it.
From afar, he actually looks like an excited little boy winning his first track race.

As Kieru was finally beginning to round the last few feet to the top of the mountain, she suddenly saw a familiar figure dropping from the sky. She was about to go out to save the person but stopped when she noticed the air and watched as he landed himself so easily. Kieru's eyes widened as she stood there, partially hidden behind the curve of the mountain, watching in shock as the person she had been worried about meeting again was standing there, all excited about the adrenaline rush from falling.
Kieru pulled herself back for a moment and took a few slow, quiet, deep breaths and closed her eyes. It's been so long and she can't remember thanking him for helping her out in the past. He helped her, even saved her life on a few occasions, and she never felt like she had properly showed him gratitude. She let out one more quiet breath then walked around to face Zephel again after almost two full years.
"Zephel... It's been a while..." She finally said, feeling stupid all of a sudden for merely stating the obvious. Her face was blank as she refused to allow herself to reveal her embarrassment. "I don't know if you remember me or not, since it's been... well, since we haven't seen each other in roughly two years... but you had helped me... you had saved me... a few times when we went to DD together... and I feel like I had never properly thanked you, sincerely, for everything... so.... thank you..." Kieru felt a slight sense of panic as she got through her speech on the slow side, her eyes a little bit wider than normal, in shock of how ridiculous she thought she sounded. She was determined to hide her embarrassment, despite the very faint hint of pink growing on her cheek as she replayed what all she just said and how she said it, realizing that she had been editing her sentences throughout her speech.
Also, wasn't this a little too quick to jump into a thank you speech, she thought. She didn't even give him the proper time to say hello to her, only just enough for him to look at her. The second she saw his eyes meet hers, she started speaking as if it was something she had rehearsed, or hadn't rehearsed considering her self edits.
Kieru stood there, blankly staring at Zephel with her slightly widened eyes, an increasingly uncomfortable feeling building up inside her as she realized more and more that this current situation was actually real. She opened her mouth to speak again, then closed it, wanting to give him time to reply.

Still pumped up by his dive, Zeph has his hands in fists all the while as he tries to cool himself down by inhaling the fresh Ianne air he had missed so much. Just as he's taking in a long deep breath, someone called up from behind him.
Spinning around a bit too fast since he's still tensed with excitement, Zeph's lips are still in an unconscious smile as he sees a woman coming up to him. She looks familiar at first sight, so Zeph was just about to give her a greeting when she suddenly continued on.
He could only blink at her as he waits for her to finish, now sporting a real smile at how awkward she seems, it sort of amused him. Her slow explanation had gave him time to breathe like he wanted, but his chest is still rapidly inflating and deflating as he tries to slow down his heartbeat rate.
"Um... You're welcome, I guess," came the easygoing reply with a shrug. He held up the back of his hand against his chin to wipe some sweat off, and then realized that he's still smiling, so he hides his smile behind his hand instead. "You don't have to thank me for...whatever I did, really. I have a habit to butt in people's business a lot, heh. Even when they didn't need me. So uh, sorry if I was being inconvenient for you."
After he's sure he's not smiling anymore, Zeph pulled back his hand and breathes through his mouth, catching his breath. He has his head held back as he looks upwards towards the many flying dragons around. He's mildly sweating now, and he's grateful the winds are generous enough in cooling him off.
Bless the peak winds of the Weyr.
"Oh yeah..." He suddenly exclaimed as he turned back to the black-haired woman, sounding a bit too airy than he intended due to him still breathing through his mouth. "Kieru, right?" He raised his eyebrows expectantly, now seeming to remember her name due to Hikaru still admiring her quietly. Now that he's sure who this is, it's easy for him to compare what he remembered of her before and seeing her now.
"Huh. You look different. More..." he searched the word through his head, then finally settled to "..open? I don't know, you look like you're not barred down to anything now. ...Or maybe that's your aura." He shrugged again, internally wondering why he's speaking so much right now. Perhaps it's because of how enthusiastic he is now.
"How have you been?" To hell with his image, he's still feeling so excited right now, Zeph just threw in a smile to her.

Zephel's response to her speech brought the assumption to Kieru that Zephel did not yet recognize her. She felt slightly disappointed by this and face dropped to a rather blank expression. At his apology, Kieru spoke up again. "No... It was not inconvenient in the end. Because of your help, I had to force myself to overcome certain internal barriers. I have become a more open person, thanks to you." She said, lowering her head during her speech.
Kieru lifted her head again to look at Zephel as he said her name then gave a slight nod in response and forced a faint smile onto her face. "That is correct." She said in response to confirm his recollection of her.
"Since the last time you saved me in the forests of Ianne almost two years ago, I have become a dragon rider as well. Together with Drea, I have been working towards opening up more around others instead of hiding myself away. It is a little difficult at times still, but there is a sense of relief and security knowing that she is always with me." Kieru said, slowly ending up with her eyes towards the skies as Drea flew around with other dragons nearer the very peak and above.

Zephel's eyebrows hit his hairline when Kieru uncovers the truth of how his help had somewhat benefited her internally. It surprised him greatly that he's even able to impact someone so greatly like this.
Zephel is generally quite surprised to hear that she had succeeded in becoming a rider now too that the astonishment is quite apparent on his face. "Really.." he breathed out, now remembering he's still catching his breath.
Due to his exceptionally horrible endurance, it takes Zeph a long tome to even catch his breath. "Well. ...Wow. I'm...glad I helped then. Congratulations." He tried to look at her correctly in the eyes as he said so, genuinely wanting to congratulate her properly.
His eyes then followed Kieru's shortly after towards the skies, watching the dragons gliding above. He can't see where Ophion must have flew to, but he can sense him near. "It's funny.." Zephel suddenly let out a short chuckle, "The chain reactions."
He was exactly like Kieru before, holed up and closed in his own world, never accepting people or believes other than his own in his life. He had quite an internal struggle, especially with his amnesia going on.
Then Hikaru breached a light in his life. Due to that, he began to accept others, the most prominent one to change him so much is Maki. "I know exactly what you mean, Kieru." He turned his attention back to Kieru with a wispy look in his eyes. "I find it rather miraculous that some people are able to change the entire perception of a person so deeply like this."
Just as he was done saying that, Zephel collapsed on the ground. Though, he was fast enough to use his hands to support behind him from having his whole upper body planted on the ground. Now he's sitting on the Weyr ground with his arms holding him up from fainting entirely.
"Fine." He quickly declared before she asks. There was a pause from him for a short moment before he asks, "So tell me about... Drea, was it?"

The faint smile on Kieru's face directed back from to the skies to Zephel as he congratulated her on becoming a rider. "Thank you." She said in response. She listened to Zephel as he went on and gave a small nod. "Indeed. It came to me as quite a surprise back then." Her eyes lowered as she reached the end of her sentence.
She looked at the ground as memories flashed through her mind of how she was before she began to change and the reasons that had caused her to be that way. The small smile faded from her face and an emptiness filled in her eyes. That is, until Zephel's fall brought her back to her senses.
She was about to ask if he was okay or reach out to help him, when Zephel said he was fine. She stared at him with slightly widened eyes and a blank expression as she calmed from the surprise. When he asked about Drea, a small smile returned to Kieru's face.
"Drea is, how should I put this... My best friend, in a way. She knows what I know and what I feel and being with her has helped me to begin to get over my past inhibitions with accepting others." She said as she looked towards the skies again. "She is wise, brave and caring."
She looked down again her her small smile still on her face, averting here eyes a bit from Zephel. "She is also the reason that I have become able to smile again."

As Zephel sat there on the Weyr ground, his legs are quaking slightly without his control, he can feel it, yet does nothing to stop it. Zephel's been experiencing such things since Orphion first dropped him. It took a lot out of him every time he tried to control the air around him in order to save himself from literally falling to his doom.
Looking up at Kieru with his legs straight and apart like that, the silver-haired could see her sudden smile at the topic of her dragon. He can't help but to smile along with her as she explained what Drea meant for her.
"Mind, gut and heart.." Zephel responded to her last three words to conclude her description of Drea, "Not bad." He nodded at her, genuinely happy that she found a partner that she could share everything with.
"I'm very glad." He said with a shrug, suddenly remembering that she had asked him about what being a rider has in store quite a number of years ago. "Oh hey, you were the one who asked about being a dragon rider before, right?" Now that his memories of her are slowly returning to him more and more, Zephel suddenly understands why she went off thanking him earlier on when they just met again here.
"Oh." Was his only response to that inner revelation. "Do I need to guess what colour she is, or should I find out about it soon?" Zephel is rarely this sociable, perhaps it was because of how Orphion is enjoying himself at the moment and it got rubbed onto him, or maybe its his wind-surfing adrenaline. Or Kieru just naturally draws that out from him.

Kieru's smile stretched a bit, ever so slightly, as Zephel commented on the qualities about Drea that Kieru had listed. She was very proud of Drea and also very grateful to her for simply being there and helping Kieru to grow.
As Zephel spoke again, recalling more about Kieru now, Kieru nodded. "Yes, that was me." She answered simply. "I had been instructed by Tyr to ask other riders about being a rider before I would be paired up with a dragon myself."
At his question of Drea's colour, Kieru looked up again. She never really thought to ask other riders about the colour of their dragons, so she thought this question to be a bit curious. "She's black, like the darkest night sky." She said after a moment of staring up towards the dragons flying by the peak.

Zeph looked upwards as he thought further on the memory of meeting this girl back then. "Aaaahhh.. Yes yes, I remember you now." She certainly was the one asking him about being a rider and Zeph nodded at the memory.
When Kieru answered the colour of Drea's scales, Zephel almost let out an airy chuckle, "Black. The most mysterious and silent of the true dragons... I'm not surprised." He glanced towards Kieru as he says so. "They represent their riders after all."
A dragon very much signifies their riders, mirroring them in such a way that the deep connection between dragon and rider is not easily intercepted. Following Kieru's gaze upwards, Zephel tried to locate where Orphion is. It took him a moment, until he saw a faint colour of blue whipping in and out of the white clouds.
Orphion's quite diffident in the subject of flying that he often avoid flying with the other dragons, unsure about his own flying capabilities is not up with their standards. "Say, Kieru.." Zephel suddenly spoke up, his gaze never leaving the skies, "How good is Drea at flying?"
