Kieru left Drea back in a field near the beginning of the forest before heading in with her weapons. These woods have been her favourite training grounds for the past few years since she started at DD.
A lot of other things happened in these woods as well, including being saved twice by a particular someone she didn't like to think about too often. Although she feels she owes a lot to him, the thought of him always seems to make her uncomfortable. After all, she still has troubles accepting help from others without feeling bad about it.
Kieru readied herself and broke into a run, quickly picking up into her current fastest pace as she dodged around the trees. After a bit, while running, she pulled out her sword and started to cut small branches that her in her way, doing various twists and turns as she moves around trees and attacked.
She quickly moved up into one tree after putting her sword away again and began to run across tree branches when the forest got thicker. she continued this for a while before eventually dropping back to the ground and pulling a circle around a few trees to turn back and continued running on her way back.
She ran as fast as she could, which was a lot faster than most normal humans, until she noticed her pace beginning to slow down. Grabbing onto a low tree branch, with the speed from her run boosting her acceleration, she flipped up onto a tree branch and stopped there to catch her breath.
She looked out among the trees with a slight glare. I'm still weaker than before... She thought with disdain as she recalled her run in with a certain beast that had clogged up her system with a special fluid that weakened her body extensively. She clenched her fists leaned back against the tree she stood on. I still have to train harder... To get back to where I was...
She slumped down and sat on the branch, one leg in front of her with her knee bent up and the other hanging over the side. She closed her eyes as she leaned back against the tree and listened to the area around her, alert to the sounds of anything that might end up passing by.

The fire gave off a calming crackle while the flames were dancing up and down. But even more bewitching was the smell of the fresh, roasted meat that was hanging on a stick that Roy stuck into the ground, next to the fire.
He wouldn't call himself much of a hunter. Actually he rarely ever hunts for a fresh dinner. Usually he bought corned beef from the place he visited before heading off again. But this time he ran across a real odd opportunity. When he wandered around the forest he witnessed to deers fighting over their territories and one of them got painfully injured at his throat. The other deer let go of him as soon as his enemy dropped to the ground. Yet the deer would have spent some more time on the ground, slowly choking from his own blood, if Roy didn't put it out of his misery.
Roy took a look at the poorly cut out piece of flesh, from the animals shoulder, that he had wrapped around the stick. It should be ready soon.

As Kieru lay resting on the tree branch, she began to pick up a faint smell from a ways away. It sounded good, like something being cooked. It was only now that Kieru realized she was kind of hungry. She let out a small sigh and opened her eyes as she looked around her, noticing a faint flicker of light through the trees.
Kieru was not always one to approach random strangers in the woods nor was she often very curious as to who was out there. She couldn't shake the feeling, however, that she should go and check out this scent and flame. Kieru let out a slight breath of air as she turned on the branch, dangling both her legs before pushing off of it and dropping to the ground. She landed easily and turned, then, in the direction of the fire and began to walk.
Despite being able to see the faint flicker of flame from where she was, it took a while still to walk there. Partially because she was trying to be unheard and unseen and partially due to the distance that was further than it looked.
When Kieru was finally close enough to see the person on the other side of the fire, she stopped where she was with widened eyes. She was partially hidden by a tree and inhaled sharply at the sight of the familiar face as the memory came rushing into her mind. As she came to realize that it really was him, Kieru slowly, almost unconsciously, forced her body to walk out from behind the tree and towards him.
She stopped at the entrance to the small clearing he was cooking in and stared a moment longer. "Roy..." She said a bit quietly, almost sounding out of breath as she lifted her right hand up towards her chest slightly. Her hand then balled into a fist and a light flush of pink played onto her cheeks as her eyebrows lowered in an annoyed expression and she turned her head to the side. She felt incredibly embarrassed now at the memory of her being completely useless and even being saved by this person.
"I'm sorry... about then..." She finally said, then tried to expand as she looked back at him again with her arms at her sides and a blank expression on her face again. "I nearly got us both killed. I didn't want you to save me then at such risk of your life." She looked away a moment again then looked back at him once more. "I feel as though I had never properly thanked you for that... So, thank you. Very much." She lowered her head slightly again as she continued to feel embarrassed. "If there is anything I can do to repay you" she began, looking back at him please ask and I will help you."
Kieru would help anyone in need of it anyway, so she felt that simply offering her assistance was not nearly enough to repay him for risking his life to save her. She still remained weaker than before the encounter with the cerop even though she had been training nearly everyday since. Without Roy's help then, however, she would not be alive still and would never have met Drea either. As she thought these things, she realized more and more how grateful she truly felt now for what he did for her.

Time and conincidences can play strange tricks on you. And this time it was one of its best. Roy didn't realize that somebody was sneaking up to his little camp until this very person walked out of the shadows and into his sight.
Even though he hasn't seen nor heard from her in forever, Roy did recognize Kieru. His face froze into a mixture of surprise and speechlessness. Luckily it was Kieru who broke the silence because she seemed to recognize him as well and started to talk, a lot. It looked like she had been carrying these words along with her for a long while.
Now that she was finished Roy still couldn't think of anything to reply to her. It was like Kieru was waiting or more like expecting something, but the truth is that Roy never helped her out in order to make her fall into his debt or anything of the sort.
"Umm..Hey.."
She was still waiting. He felt that a simple you're welcome wouldn't be much of a help.
Roy lifted his hand to offer her a place next to him at the fire. "It certainly has been a while, Kieru." he said. "But we both made it out of their alive, so there is nothing to apologize for. And I am glad that we ran into each other like this again." He smiled at her. "And I was already thinking that I would have to eat my dinner alone."
For some poeple it must seem like Roy was being too modest in this matter, but for Roy it simply was that easy. He didn't do anything that he wouldn't do for anyone else that he has traveled with.
He took another stick that he had prepared and stuck it close to the fire. Then he took the one that is ready and offered it to Kieru.

Kieru stood still there as she awaited Roy's response. An awkward "hey" only made her feel a little more uncomfortable, and she glanced away from him in slight embarrassment.
Kieru looked back at Roy as she noticed movement, and saw him gesturing for her to sit with him. While he spoke, she made her way over towards him and took a seat where he had gestured, looking into the fire. When he said that he was glad they ran into each other again, Kieru finally looked back over at him.
Kieru's eyebrow tweaked down in slight confusion when he mentioned about not having to eat alone. She watched him, then, as he started to cook another stick of meat and offered the finished one to her.
Kieru's first response was wanting to refuse since it was his food. However, the look on his face and the way he had spoken caused her to hesitate and remind herself that she was trying to change.
Kieru slowly reached out to accept the food from Roy as a slight smile began to form on her face, something that would have never happened even a year ago. "Thank you, Roy." She said as she received the food, then gave a small nod in thanks as well, before looking down at the meat on the stick in her hands. The faint smile remained on her face, although she was hesitant to start eating before him.

Kieru certainly took her time to walk over to Roy and take a seat next to him. It almost looked like she had to think through every single step of her actions in a very detailed way, which resulted in her slow movements. Hesitantly she accepted the stick that Roy offered her, but when she did Roy thanked her with another smile.
While Roy carefully turned the stick that's still being prepared he noticed a faint smile from Kieru from the corner of his eyes. That made him smile as well. He remembered vividly how they first met and how closed up Kieru was acting in that restaurant. Probably Roy himself was trying a bit too hard to get her attention, but she just didn't make it easy for him. She still seemed to be a very quiet person, but for her deciding to give him company really shows that she must be working on herself. Roy didn't know why, but it still made him happy.
By now Kieru hasn't touched her food yet and was probably waiting for Roy to finish up his own so they could eat together. That resulted in an awkward silence and Roy figured that he had to do something about it, yet he had no idea what to talk about with the silent person next to him.
"So... what are you doing here?" he decided to go with the most obvious question, before adjusting his food again. "If you don't mind me asking that is."

Kieru was normally comfortable sharing silence with others, but it was a strange experience meeting with Roy again. This silence held a sense of awkwardness to it. So, she was a little thankful that he spoke, even though it meant she would have to reply.
"Training," she answered in a straight manner, much like how she spoke to him in the past. After a moment, however, she continued. "I train almost every day for hours... Yet i'm still not back to the level i was before." She finally turned to look at him again after that. "That beast really set me back a lot."

Kieru didn't waste much words even when answering Roys question, which was quite like her. "Huh.." He let out as he carefully turned the stick that stuck in the ground in front of him. He can remember said 'beast' quite vividly. Even though he really has no clue how the two of them actually survived its attack. A shiver went down his spine, as he recalled the exact scene when dived down into the pitch black water and Roys body shook a little on its own in order to get rid of it.
Why did her even do that? Just the memory of diving towards the monsters maw creeped him out to no end. But it's not like he really had a choice, he thought to himself as he glanced over to Kieru who was quietly sitting next to him. Afterall her life was on the line...
"That must be hard.." Roy finally replied and looked her in the eyes. "But I'm kinda glad.. because it could have been way worse back then, you know." He smiled at her before instinctively turning back to his dinner again, which was almost done.
