Background[/u] (Very long, sorry, this story is actually what happened in my nightmare)
His birth name is Rinzhou Manzoku, born in Lumiest on the northern part of Tyris. Since Lumiest is the city of the seas, where the general transportation is by boat, most children that grew up there were taught the basics of both making and steering a boat. Rinzhou is of no exception.
It is common for the people there to bear strange birth marks on their faces since birth, Rinzhou's mark apparently goes down from his right temple and down to his jaw. Like others of his kind, the birth mark is always yellow in colour.
He was assigned as a crew of a huge ship when he reached 16 years of age, transporting goods all over the region of Tyris. All is well until an awful thundrestorm struck, complete with the rare monstrous Ether winds famous in Tyris forming near the seas. It did not even took 5 minutes for the whole gigantic ship to explode to pieces.
When Rinzhou awakens, he founds himself in the shores of Penang Port, where a few local sailors hauled him out of the sea and rushed him to the nearest infirmary. After he was treated, the lad realizes that all of his material possessions, including money and clothes, were all swallowed by the sea. So then, Rinzhou decided to work for a few days there at the port to support himself before making plans to get back home.
Since his area of expertise revolves around the sea, he is able to make his own boat and (after a bit of talk about trust)export stocks of goods from country to country in a large mass of quantity. He maintains good relationships with the inn keepers of the countries due to his job over the months, and this proves to be of great benefit to him since the inn keepers begins to trust him for his good job and offered him free food and places to stay if he were to stop by.
Things are going well for Rinzhou since the months he stayed in this domain, until that one fateful day. As Rinzhou was delivering a stock of newly processed papers from Kumo to Ianne, he loaded the stock on a trolley of sorts since there are no seas to the path he's heading to, and pushed the deliveries by hands alone.
While on his way, he chanced upon a ruckus near the steamy alleyways when he passed through Evnae, and it surprised him to see a little girl being surrounded by a number of men. She doesn't even look old enough to walk on her own, so Rinzhou immediately interferes.
He managed to hold a few punches, but in the end Rinzhou was fenced in and got himself thrown around the alleyway. The poor lad then got pushed towards his stack of papers on his trolley, and down goes the tower of papers.
In that moment that will forever be imbedded in his mind, the fragile-seeming little girl fumbled towards him, pulled up one piece of the paper from the mess around him, and immediately the rest of the papers flew out in the air in a mad frenzy everywhere, it gives everyone paper cuts. Rinzhou's shoulder-length hair was chopped short because of what transpired.
What happens next is even more frightening. The girl wielded the paper in between her index finger and middle finger, then sped her way towards the confused men who were crowding her earlier, and literally sliced all the men to half...using just that one piece of paper.
It was the first time Rinzhou witnessed death in front of his eyes, with so many blood and flesh sprawling on the ground still jerking around in frightening spasms. That little girl just casually turned her attention to the obviously freaked-out Rinzhou, with blood all over her face and clothes, and smiled admiringly at him.
The first thing she did for Rinzhou when the boy is still in a state of shock is spelling out her name using blood on the last bit of dry paper left; Mika.
Mika tagged along with Rinzhou as he travels around, with our without his permission. He's scared out of his mind the first few days, but she displays likeable human attitude towards him, so he's beginning to feel comfortable of her company after a few weeks.
Rinzhou then learns that she's mute, so she can't really talk. And that she's not even human, more so of a demon child. She communicated using paper, it's her affinity of sorts it seems. Mika is so very fragile and clumsy when she does things that doesn't concern her strength with paper, so he ended up buying himself a gun and a knife just in case if they got attacked again.
He grew very protective of this little demon girl after a while. Each month on the last day, she would offer him food. He has no idea where she got them or how did she even cook them, but he ate anyway, truly touched by her random act of kindness towards him.
She had told him using the papers she controlled that she would leave the world in 12 months, and thinking this girl is sick or something, Rinzhou now shifts his aim from collecting money for going back home, to trying and make this girl happy for a whole year.
Through the year, they travel around the domain together completing quests and attaining money and items. Occasionally when they're attacked by thieves, Mika would be the one who does all the murdering, and as she's still a demon, she would eat the corpses of the fallen in joy. Rinzhou stayed quiet through the whole ordeal since she's just doing what's normal of her species..
He noticed that Mika kept wearing bigger clothes to hide herself more and more as each month passes. It's difficult to make her happy since she doesn't seem to understand what's the purpose of feeling so, but Rinzhou does try his best to please her... He even ended up killing someone to offer food to the little demon girl.
Rinzhou also noticed that after a few months, when thieves attacked them, he's the one who killed them more than the demon herself, and then he would excitedly offer her the bodies he killed to the demon child, so she would eat. She became smaller and weaker as each month passes, and Rinzhou began to get worried. Even so, she still offered him a plate of food without fail every month.
On the last day of the 12th month, she can't even walk, much less move much. Mika would rage if Rinzhou were to touch her body without her permission, even if to carry her to the nearest inn. But she still offered him a plate of mysterious food. It's the last straw for Rinzhou and he ordered her to tell him what he can do to help her live more or he won't eat her food.
To his shock and later disgust, the demon girl told him(using papers as always) that she would only live if he eats her. She told him that she would live inside him, breathing the same air as him, seeing the same things he see, feeling the way how he touch things. They would become one...literally.
Rinzhou is so bothered by her suggestion, he said he would rather offer her his body if she wanted to eat human meat, and that he can't just eat someone. Mika just smiled and informed the shocked Rinzhou that he had certainly eaten demon meat for the last 11 months. It dawned on him a bit too late that the food she offered to him was apparently her own blood and flesh...
It had affected Rinzhou in a way that he's getting a stronger will to kill, and less of a human since his morals now seemed so demented and unclear. He understands why it's so easy for him to take human lives now, and how obsessive he is now of her to the point of killing others to please her.
At the majorly mind shattering revelation, Rinzhou had mentally blacked out, but his body isn't. He ate the food she offered savagely, and in the midst of turning into a beast, moved up to eating Mika next..
His eyes are black-tinted with only his irises turning frighteningly golden. The yellow-tinted birth mark on his face glows red with the new blood that has been infused inside him. In that instant, blood is now his signature and paper is now his affinity.
Rinzhou turned into a demon right after he finished Mika, and while his humane side is sleeping inside him, he reverses Mika's name and refers to himself as kaMi.
Personality[/u]
Since he was born as a human named Rinzhou, he still responds when people who had known him as Rinzhou called his name. Generally, he would act as the usual Rinzhou everyone knows and trusts; a kind, honest, awkward and hardworking boy. He would smile and be his helpful self while he still does the job that he used to near the seas and exporting stocks.
Though, on some days, night-time especially, the glow of his golden eyes are dangerously bright, most people are wise enough to stay away from him during these times. Rinzhou turns into kaMi when his morals are not within reach anymore, due to his hunger.
kaMi never talks, but he can grin. He would grin especially if for some reason he was cornered by people wanting to harm him, because he knows fully well that in the end, it's going to be the other way around. Plus, free food without waiting for his schedule to eat.
kaMi would prominently come out during the last day of every month, where he would hunt for a human to eat. On other days though, he's completely like the real Rinzhou. Once he likes a human, he would befriend them and targets them for his feast at the end of the month. Because of the demon inside him, Rinzhou has gotten terribly protective, possessive and dominant of his
Weapon(s)/Abilities[/u]
Despite having bought a knife and a revolver for protection since he traveled with Mika, Rinzhou barely uses them now. Since he kept changing into kaMi whenever something threatens him.
Due to having eaten a full demon child, Rinzhou inherited many abilities Mika possesses. He is able to manipulate the state of papers, having no side-effects after eating human flesh and even gaining slight demonic attributes.
He is directly inclined with the wind. Using his specially made cloak, he is able to travel in the air if the wind is strong enough, similar to how papers are. That is his main transportation method to the places he wants instead of by boat now.
Since Mika is a part of him now, she lives inside him. When Rinzhou's life is seriously endangered, she would emerge outside of him, seeping out of his body in the form of black blood leaking from the cuts and holes of his body, morphing into a gigantic unnamed creature too grotesque for words, and simply eats whatever is threatening her host.
Strengths[/u]
Ever since he had eaten Mika, Rinzhou's body regenerates much faster than a normal human being. It does not regenerate immediately, it takes a few days faster than a human normally if the injury involves him losing a limb, but will attain that sort of instantly-healed state if he eats human flesh.
Mentally, Rinzhou is almost insusceptible to words that would normally impact him if he was still a human. If he was a human, words of encouragement would strengthen him and insults would break him. Now, his mind had totally disregarded the life and power of words themselves, thus makes it harder for others to reach him internally, at the same time made him totally immune to the pain of it.
His newly infused blood is a dangerous mixture as it breeds gluttony, meaning that when he's hungry, then he really is hungry. His main food chain to eat are basically humans, and with every human he eats, his capabilities strengthens based on the human's natural capabilities. (Meaning if he managed to eat a wrestler, then he will inherit the wrestler's strength for a whole month until his body naturally let out the remains of the wrestler)
If he happens to eat a different creature, then their blood would also be infused inside him, birthing for new abilities and weaknesses free for him to use for exactly a month until he gets hungry again.
Mika's blood within him made him capable to suck in capabilities of the people he had eaten, but within a time limit of one month.
Weaknesses[/u]
Rinzhou holds the same strength as any normal young man his age, as even with his demonic enhancements from eating a demon child, strength is not one of the boosted attributes of the demon he ate. Same with defense, speed or any other physical qualities.
In physical terms, he's absolutely normal. This fact makes it harder for Rinzhou to satiate his hunger since his body can be harmed easily.
Mentally, Rinzhou is stuck in between the humanly feelings of guilt when taking lives...and the utter apathy of indulging himself of his desire to feast upon his own kind. It screwed his head when he's still the same honorable Rinzhou, but at the same time content that Mika is still living within him, thus he allows himself to indulge in human flesh once in a while, to keep her alive in his body.
Due to him sharing the blood of a demon child who controls paper, Rinzhou dislikes water. When he sees the skies darkening, he would find some place to shelter himself. He is like the living embodiment of paper itself, if rain pelts on him, his skin would deteriorate like the raindrops are made of acid. He would only regenerate if he dries himself.
This is conflicted when his human side practically lives with anything relating with water. He was forced to take extra precaution when doing his job now due to his new weakness to water.
Appearance[/u]
His dark cloak is actually made of paper, so when the skies darkens, Rinzhou would immediately seek shelter in order not to wet his paper cloak.
Despite its state of being made of paper, it can be manipulated to be as hard as a shield and as sharp as a knife if he wishes in order to either protect himself by deflecting attacks or holding himself down if the wind is too strong.
