(Warning: LONG history)
Name: Felix Flynn
Race: Human
Age: 19
Class/Occupation: Soldier
Country of Origin: Laersig
Country of Residence: He will not settle into a residence until he is with the one he is looking for.
Background: Felix grew up with a terribly abusive father who got mad over every little thing. One evening when Felix was only seven years old, his father came home drunk and raged at the boy. Attempting to protect her son, his mother stepped in between them and his father ended up killing her. Felix was stunned beyond belief at this and remained frozen for a while, staring at the scene of his mother being killed. Within a couple minutes, his face became distorted into a wicked glare and he picked up one of the knives that lay on the floor that was knocked off the counter and killed his father with it.
Because of all the screaming, their neighbors had called the police and soon Felix heard the sirens which knocked him out of that state and back to himself. He stared surprised at the bloodied knife in his hand, not remembering the scene he had just witnessed. With his eyes open and frightened, he dropped the knife from his quivering hand and back up towards the pantry and hid inside. He sat and held his knees up to his chest, rocking slightly and crying quietly.
He heard the police bang on the front door then eventually enter and found the bodies of his parents in the kitchen. A mass of fear struck in him along with the sadness of hearing his mother pronounced dead and the tears came out heavier. His quiet cries were heard by a policeman that was standing next to the pantry door and he opened it to find the young boy covered in his father’s blood. He was swiftly taken out of the house by a policeman and a couple paramedics and the blood was cleaned off of him.
The police tried to question him but he would not speak, as if he couldn’t; only quivering with a scared look on his young face. Deciding that they would not be able to get anything useful out of the boy to figure out what happened to his parents, they sent him to a nearby orphanage asking only that if he was eventually able to speak to let them know immediately.
Felix spent the next ten years at that shelter. There, he met his good friend Spencer who often dreamed of being a super hero. Spencer was often wearing a long ribbon with eye holes cut out around his head and a blanket as a cape. He was Felix’s age and was immediately interested in the boy who couldn’t speak. He shortly after decided that it would be his mission to bring forth words from Felix’s mouth. Felix showed a tendency towards being shy and often hid himself in corners and refused to join in big group activities. Spencer was the only person he grew to be comfortable around.
One night, when they were ten, a couple older boys came by and began to bully Spencer for playing “super hero” all the time. They called him nasty words and would beat him up. Felix watched the scene for a bit with horror until his eyes glazed over and an intense glare fixated upon his face. He violently lashed out at the boys and cursed and growled at them as he looked like he was possessed by a demon. Felix chased them for a while, spewing curses at them, until they reached a place he could not and, now lost in the woods, he reverted back to himself.
A feared look was on his face as he didn’t know where he was and couldn’t remember what had caused him to end up here. A frightening remembrance of the night his parents died came to his mind due to the blackout effect on his memories. He turned around from the direction he was facing and started to walk, hoping this would be the way back. When the frightened looking boy returned to the building, Spencer was standing by the door with an attendant of the orphanage, hiding behind her as if scared of Felix.
Felix soon found himself back at the police station, hearing questions from the night his parents died again. He started to cry and the policeman didn’t know what to do. They knew he could talk based on what was reported but the little boy seemed as dumb as he did the first night he was brought there. They returned him to the orphanage and Spencer would not come near him anymore. He kept to himself on his bed for the majority of every day and often went without food, becoming really skinny and depressed.
One day, seeing the sickly sad look on Felix’s face, Spencer built up the courage to go up to him. Felix looked back at Spencer with a sad face; he never really knew why Spencer was suddenly so scared of him. With a mass of effort, Felix managed to squeeze out the tiniest “sorry” under a whisper and the two were reconciled.
Day by day, Spencer tried to get more words out of Felix and tried anything and everything to make Felix smile. The two were inseparable and after a number of years, Felix was able to talk normally (at least to Spencer) and would smile at laugh with and at his friend.
They shared their thoughts and dreams and one day when they were sixteen, Spencer said he would enlist in the military the following year. He reasoned that it was the next best thing to being a superhero and convinced Felix to join with him. The police had since dropped the case, with no evidence and with no real testimony from the boy who now claimed he couldn’t remember anything. The year Spencer and Felix both turned seventeen, they left the orphanage together and enlisted in the military.
The training was hard on Felix but, with Spencer’s encouragement, he pulled through it. When they finally went off to war, however, Felix ended up having many moments where his normal consciousness would blank out and the demon side would take over. He was fierce then and attacked their enemies without mercy. He was nicknamed “the pretty demon” by some higher officers who made jokes about him being a gay pretty boy normally but a demon in the field. Felix felt embarrassed by these nicknames but Spencer encouraged him to just brush them off.
One day, Felix was introduced to their new intelligence scout Myrra. She was a young girl, only about fourteen or fifteen at the time. Felix was immediately taken by her. He acted rather shy and tried to be sweet and kind to her as they were led into an office together. The man they had been sent together to meet, much to Felix’s horror, informed them that they would be infiltrating a few enemy territories together. Myrra was to seek out information and Felix was to protect her at all cost. They would be sending his regular squad with him for any necessary added protection.
Felix glanced over at Myrra with a look of fear in his eyes, not towards the mission itself but in fear that his demon side might be revealed to her. He had wanted to make a good impression and wanted her to like him but he wondered if she would still be able to like him once she saw that other side of him.
Heading out with their group, Felix remaining close to Myrra at all times, they headed out to their mission destination. It was a while before anything bad really happened. Myrra was able to recover a lot of the necessary information and Felix did not have much problem keeping her safe. Around the time when they were about to depart, however, they were found out and attacked by the enemy.
Felix looked at Myrra with a frightened expression as he swiftly took her back to where their troupe was hiding. A fight broke out and Felix watched in horror as blood was spewed all over. His eyes slowly glazed over and he was gone with his demon taking over and going on a crazy killing spree.
Looking quite different than he had before, even after the fighting stopped, his appearance and mannerisms frightened Myrra. He was more like that of a terrifying beast than the sweet and gentle person she had known only hourly earlier. When he finally returned to normal, he reflected Myrra’s look of horror as he knew now that she would forever be scared of him after seeing what she did. If he tried to get close to her from then on, she would distance herself from him.
Alone in his barracks, staring into his mirror, he would start to go crazy and end up talking to himself, arguing with himself. It occasionally escalated to him breaking the mirror or strangling himself. Spencer found him amidst these outbursts at time and tried what he could to calm his friend and talk to him about everything but Felix would rarely calm down enough to talk and would sometimes curse at Spencer and leave.
A couple times these outbursts ended up occurring out on another mission while watching Myrra walking swiftly ahead of him. He writhed inside at the thought of her disgust for him and he almost attacked her in a rage with himself, tackling her to the ground and shouting at her not to judge him and that he was not a monster. He pounded the ground beside her a couple times while shouting things alike as their comrades grabbed him and pulled him off the girl, taking him away. He was since then removed from missions with her and soon after heard of her leaving their military base.
He seethed inside about everything and eventually spilled his thoughts and desires to Spencer one night after they had gotten into a massive fight due to Felix’s outbursts and Spencer had managed to win. He comforted Felix that night and explained calmly why Felix’s reaction to all of this was not right. He had suggested that Felix go find Myrra and apologize and try to have her give him another chance. When he told Spencer that Myrra had left the military, Spencer just smiled and told him to go after her anyway.
Felix shortly after requested a temporary leave for mental health purposes and headed on his way to seek her out.
Personality: Felix is very sensitive to criticism and especially to anger from others. He is often very shy, reserved and tends to keep to the side. When he’s comfortable around someone, he has a gentle boyish smile and may get mildly excited over topics of interest to his friend. He is very slow to form bonds with other people or even show interest, but when he does, he has a very hard time letting them go. He tries to be sweet and considerate to the people he personally knows and is close to but often comes off as rude or uncaring to those he doesn’t know. He tries to uphold within himself a certain desire for good and justice. He prefers to keep peace and will do what he can to make that happen.
Felix tends to get frightened easily, especially when it comes to his darker personality or things that might trigger it. When he flips, he is like a demon or a monster. He may throw around profanities left and right and will go berserk with attacking the one who triggered the flip. Although this alternate personality flip started as a defence mechanism in attempt to avenge his mother and save himself, it has now escalated to a problem that eats away at him inside.
Weapon(s)/ Abilities: Felix carries a standard army pistol and a hunting knife. He is of average speed and physical strength when normal but is almost supercharged in a way when his darker side takes over. Still, his abilities are only human.
Strengths: Felix is physically capable of taking a lot of hits and still being able to move. He has decent defensive skill and is very good at evasion as a tactic in hand to hand combat. He has a strong sense of justice (greatly influenced by Spencer) and he isn’t afraid of standing up to someone when he sees that there is injustice.
Weaknesses: Felix is unable to control his mind when he sees blood. It is usually only when there is tension and fighting along with it when his mind flips out and he becomes reckless. He is often scared of this occurring, especially around people he knows personally and likes. Due to his frequent near starving himself in the orphanage, he has a hard time eating too much food at one time. It can cause him to feel sick or just generally unwell; because of this, he doesn’t eat a whole lot.
