"I just want you to know that I understand Zero. That I truly, care about you, the best friend of my life. i.. I know I tend to go overboard with the touchy feely stuff by hugging you very often but there is something that everyone has to understand. You accept them. You don't push me away and I thank you from my heart."
Just as she was about to go into more details about the box, and the hugs she was literally pulled away from Eve after she had given Zero her grocery shopping list. Since he couldn't read Eve had given a list that had all the pictures of the food she wanted Zero to bring back. Mitsuko took a look at the list, and fixed up Eve's sketches for it to be more visual for Zero, so that he can compare it to the real thing.
"There you are. That should help you help Eve a little quicker, and when you come back you get another present from me. And no it isn't something you left in my bedroom... It's something from your child hood. When you were with me. Now go on and help Eve, I see she is getting impatient, and I want to wake up Hunter for something. I.. need to talk to him."
The angel gave Zero a hug and promised him when he came back, she'll give him the box and they'll open it together at the same time.
"Oh right. Momo."
She looked at Zero as she said those words and of course he looked at her in a confused manner, and she giggled.
"Momo is Japanese for peach. Sometimes the words just come out since Japanese is my first language and not English. I had to learn English from the ground up when I was younger. That's why you used to see me with lots and lots of books on my work desk. I was still learning English during the time I met you, so hopefully,... I... didn't make you feel out of place. "
She was tempted to say that she loves him before he headed on out there but she shook her head no and just kept in mind that she was saving those words for their friendship anniversary. She wanted him to know that someone did love him. And she wanted him to hear it at least once in his life. No one deserved to go through their lives without hearing that someone loves them.
As she walked with Eve after telling Zero to keep safe and come back home in one piece, she felt a tear come down from her eyes a little, and it stained her cheek. IN the light eve could notice that sparkle of the angel's tears.
There was something else Zero had to know as soon as he came back from his errand. And that is the fact that he is Mitsuko's Hero. Out of all the pain she has been through and that pain of being left behind, and wasn't given a second thought when the people that she loved... Just left her and none of them came back beside one. Zero did., and for that she is forever grateful.

"See ya later Zero and make sure you do a good job for me now okay? I'm counting on you to follow that visual list and bring me back the freshest ingredients and I'll have you know I put my husband in the dog house whenever I head back home for a visit. So there."
Eve walked with Mitsuko for a while after they had parted with Zero much to his dismay, and even a little bit of discomfort too since Eve knew that Mitsuko never wanted to be apart from her best friend, in ways they were chained to the hip, but in other ways they were living their own lives but never leaving the other behind. Eventually however the dangerous beauty had seen a tear fall from Mitsuko's eyes. The angel needed to talk to Hunter, probably because he would make light of it, and understand her.
As they both went upstairs and into the bedroom where Hunter slept- and you can tell HOW he slept since his feet were sticking out from under the covers, and his head was buried under his pillow, along with him snoring so loudly.
Eve called to Hunter trying to wake him up.
"HUNTER."
There was no answer but loud snoring.
She tried again. "HUNTER MIKI needs to talk to you right now!"
Still snoring.
That does it. Steam was coming out from Eve's ears out of annoyance, and so she got a bucket full of cold water, moved the pillow from where Hunter's head was buried underneath, and dumped it all over him.
"Wake up you idiot! How dare you keep a girl waiting for so long especially when she wants to talk to you?! Shame on you!"

Zero was literally pushed away to the very exit of the place while handling the visual list. "HEY, I didn't say I agreed with this--" But the door was slammed close right behind him. Of course he got kicked out being forced to do what he doesn't even know.
Zero started to walk in order to channel out his rage with his stomping, thinking about it makes him angry, so he decided to just focus on his job in order to finish it early and get back to Miki early.
Pulling the visual list from his pocket, he ignored the numerous glances he received from several girls he walked past by. Then out of a sudden, he stopped. "Wait. Where is the shopping store in the first place?" Zero just seemed to remember that he has no sense of direction.
'.....This is going to be a looong day.'

Hunter woke up with a start and a yelp. The water didn't just shock him because of the cold, it's also because it clogged both his nose and mouth, so he was woken up flabbergasted since he can't breathe. "What....the hell, Eve?? What kind of woman are you, barging into a man's room like this and spilling water on his face.. Wouldn't it hurt if you just kiss me, I'll definitely wake up like sleeping beauty~"
Even when he's loopy, he's still being himself. Immediately, he got out of his bed to reach for his towel that hanged on one of the walls there to dry his face. "And you got my bed wet too.. Evil wouldn't be complete without your name, EVE." He shot her a glare, seeming like he's slightly angry of being woken up in such a manner.
Though since Hunter's still Hunter, it doesn't take long for him to shrug it off. Pulling a couple stools from a hidden cabinet, and slides it against the floor for Miki and Eve to catch. Hunter just sat at the windowsill, eying the two ladies.
"So! As shameful as I am for being UNABLE to wake up when someone needs me," he stuck a pinky finger in his ear to get some excess water out, "How can I help you with?"

"You actually think I would kiss you from sleep? HAHAHA in your dreams darlin. Miki wouldn't either since well she has more dignity, and then she has Zero who wouldn't allow her to kiss you. So either way when it comes to the two female bounty hunters that reside in the HQ with you men, you are out of luck."
"Anyway Miki has something to talk to you about, and I saw a tear roll down her eye. Either something is bothering her or something is touching her and she is about ready to burst that she must tell someone. Now go ahead Miki talk to Hunter. He maybe a bit of a pervert but I am here with you to act as your shield while Zero is out doing that errand for me. Hunter needs to get his listening ears glued on but at LEAST I'm listening. Don't be shy. We are here for you."

"My eyes are still tearing up aren't they? I'm sorry It's just what I am feeling in my heart right now is so overwhelming, but I am happy. These aren't tears of sadness I assure you. These tears are a result of a realization that I had for a while now, but I didn't know how to come out and say it. I mean with all the things I have been through I guess I get a little scared. But I will tell you."
She patted her tears dry with the gentle touch of her hand and with the encouragement of Eve and Hunter who seemed to be really listening for once, Mitsuko started to tell them what she felt, and that it concerns Zero and how she sees him.
"Zero is my hero. He always has been, he's protected me, and saved me in almost every way possible, even when I shed tears, even though he can't handle girls crying he didn't run away from me. I-I'm not trying to say that I am picking favorites but.... Zero is more of a hero to me.."
Eve then commented on the reason why Mitsuko saw him as her hero, he took away her loneliness.
The angel nodded and continued some more as she turned red.
"He was just this little boy covered in blood stained clothes... but.... There was this hero inside of him. Kinda like Hercules... he was born strong. Look at everything he endured as a child. There were times where it looked like he wouldn't make it but he did. Now he's transformed into this wonderful adult that can think for himself, and protects me when I need it most."
"As you both know a lot of men that are dear to me ended up leaving. First my boyfriend did, Neji, and then Yuuki, and then my two brothers due to their lives and how different they are from mine. I'm not sure where Jake is now, and Kankorou... he's been gone for weeks now. I'm not trying to say that people are terrible for coming and going as this is life and it will happen but.... you just know when you're lonely. I don't blame Zero for leaving at a young age, the most important thing is we found each other again, that was one of the most happiest moments of my life."
"And I know Zero is trying so hard to make it up to me since he feels bad for leaving, but he shouldn't. He wouldn't have learned all the things that he did learn if he didn't leave and learn how the world works. But like I said he was already strong to begin with since birth. If he wasn't strong he would have died in my arms as soon as I held him for the first time, like a newborn. "
Then Hunter asked her in a teasing way if she loved Zero more then just a friend.
"I do love him but as a brother but I am waiting for the right time to tell him that. That's also something I can't just blurt out to someone without forming a bond with them, or if they are okay, with those feelings".

Hunter leaned against the window in a relaxed manner as Miki began to start on what's bothering her. Eve's teasing didn't get to him, who said the only girls in Veyyard is inside the HQ? Hunter knows the name of each and every normal woman out there, they may not be as gentle as Miki or as beautiful as Eve, but at least they greeted him nicely.
"Ahww... Miki.. A good man told me once, that tears are given to us to use. Like all good gifts, they should be used properly. Tears are the heart's own dew, after all. Don't you think so?" Hunter had stood up to fetch a box of tissues on top of the cupboard and tossed it for Miki to catch. "And you're using them properly. I'm proud."
When the angel finally started, Hunter smiled as he sat back on the windowsill. It's about Zero, he had guessed it spot on. "I agree that Zero is one of a kind...but I never expected him to be a hero in your eyes." Really, to Hunter, based on the ramblings from Zero every night of how important Miki is to him, it's like Miki's the hero. Of course, Hunter promised to not let that out to anyone, it's a man-to-man promise.
The oldest of the trio listened attentively to the blond's words, there's just something about how she constructed her words that is able to pull the strings of any hearts to just listen to her voice and feels what she feel, almost as if guiding the listeners to her own emotions. Hunter felt it, no matter how he hardened himself, and nodded as a sign that he's listening.
"Miki. You should know this... Ten years ago, when Faun brought back a bloody kid to our HQ, the chief went mad. Mind you, it's not Jean back then who's the chief. This old chief is less organized, more brutal and violent," Hunter started his part of the story, and noticed that even Eve listened, since she haven't joined yet at the time.
"I was a rookie back then, under Faun's teachings. So basically, me and Zero were kinda like in the same boat...except that the kid's a decade younger. He was so...weak, and he's sick with his arm messed up like that, and everyone in the HQ thought that he's not going to last." Hunter's somber expression indicated that he's not joking at all, it's like he's seeing flashes of the past in front of his eyes.
There's a slight flicker of pain in his eyes, he didn't want to face the two women at all since he can't even support a smile now up his lips, so he just looked downwards on the floor, "Faun's training, under the old chief's regiments, was...beyond cruel. Both physically and emotionally, they're trying to turn us into soulless assassins. Even I can't take it, so imagine a sickly little boy like Zero having to undergo such painful things. It was...horrible, his screams, his tears. At one point, I hoped he dies already so he doesn't have to feel the pain anymore.."
Ten years ago was a dark day to everyone, the old HQ code were: The strong shall live, and the weak shall die. "But Zero doesn't die. He just kept pushing and forcing himself, he kept going when people thought he wouldn't last. It takes such a long time, but he gets stronger and stronger, it's amazing. Through his weakness, he finds his strength."
Hunter finally looked up, now with a smile brimming on his face, he understands completely when Mitsuko said that the boy was strong. "...After a while, I realize that his screams and tears aren't from the pain of the training...but rather from regret. I dare say...that regret was leaving you, Miki." At some point of being immersed with that regret, he found himself and began working his way up, that's what Hunter thought through all the years watching the boy growing.
"He's more than a friend, isn't he?" Hunter suddenly asked, now picking back up his usual mischievousness, but Miki's answer surprised him. Or probably the fact that she answers his question so casually. "He's a brother? Are you kidding me? Siblings don't kiss each other like what happened downstairs, Miki. Siblings FIGHTS. That's how they show affection. ...At least normal siblings does that."

Mitsuko listened to Hunter's story and there were some connections to what Zero had gone through. But she wanted Hunter to look into her eyes even though it was hard to come out in the open about this. So she went in front of Hunter and touched his cheek gently, in a comforting manner. Physical and emotional abuse is just as bad when put together, not one form is worse then the other one since they are both bad.
"Look at me Hunter. I know Zero has been through a lot, and while he didn't describe to me in detail what went on when he was way from me, I know he would eventually tell me in his own time, This is his resolve. To be stronger then he could ever imagined. But there is more to strength then just physical power. It's what's in his heart. He pulled through because he wanted to be with me again, and to show everyone that he made it, and not just some poor injured boy that couldn't do anything for himself."
"All the mistreatment, all the pain, all the self esteem issues, eventually comes to pass. I know Zero has all those memories, but I will be here to put his heart back together again, he's young he has his whole life ahead of him. I.. am 22 years old... I'm like in your age group. I'll be 23 this year, and I know I won't be around forever physically. I love him so much, and while we don't argue or fight... we are family. He was the first person I ever loved, and logically we were strangers but in my heart, when I kept staring at him for the first time... I know my heart knew him. He was made for me Hunter we were made for each other we are best friend soulmates. Neji came after.
"Romantically Neji was my first love but in general it was Zero who I gave my love to first, well who was outside the family. I know where Zero's love for me stems from. From just being me and not abandoning him when he needed me most I realized I don't need a new boyfriend to make me happy? You know why? because Zero has been here all along. Even if I don't get married in real life.... And even though Zero and I aren't involved romantically, spiritually we are married.... Our souls can't be without the other because we affect each other so deeply."
"There is always that one person that is created just for us.... and Zero.. he is my best friend for a reason. And he'll always be my best friend, my hero. Sometimes people get involved romanticallly because they need that companionship or if something is missing. What I was missing all the time was.... My best friend. I don't need romance to make me happy. Zero accepts the love and kindness I give him, he never pushed me away, as long as we continue to be each other's smiles.... I can leave this world happily when its my time because I am experiencing love in the purest form possible. There is no sadness, pain... anger, distrust... this love I feel toward Zero is something made from all of our joyous times together."
"My love for Zero, is patient, kind and not jealous. He deserves to find his own bliss, live his own life... But never forget about me. I would like to show you something if that's alright?"
The angel took out her sketchbook and showed Hunter her drawings of Zero, that she made when she lost her memories.
"When I became an amnesiac I... forgot Zero, and while my mind did my heart never did. My heart connected each time I drew Zero. I didn't know the boys name in the pictures but I couldn't stop drawing him. I didn't want to stop. It was as if.... he was a character in my dreams.... and my heart was trying to help jog my memory..... See? There is even one picture where I started to write his name out but never finished it."
"Zero and I were both emotionally abused, and... I can't remember too clearly but My dad used to hit me since he was drunk. Luckily it didn't leave marks on my skin but the memories.. Like Zero is terrible. I wonder Hunter... if there is a way I can heal Zero's arm and give it life again.... If it doesn't work that's okay, but I would like to try."
"And in the box that I have for Zero downstairs.. in it contains all of his toys he used to play with as a child. From airplanes, to his finger paintings.. It's all here. I never got rid of any of Zero's things because it was his memory. The memory of a great child hood that he experienced... when he was with me. I wanted him back so badly but as Zero explained to me earlier maybe he wasn't meant to be with me at that time, maybe we just needed some time apart so we can grow, and he can have his time to get stronger, and also make us both realize what important role we play in each other's lives.."
"Some things you don't realize.... Until you enter adult hood. And its just like you said, he now has regrets for leaving me, but its okay all things happen for a reason."[/b]

Hunter immediately snapped his eyes awake from the flashes of the past when he heard footsteps coming near him. Slowly, he tilted his head up when Miki touched his cheek. Her gentle angelic touch is probably the reason why Hunter automatically smiled, then places his hand over hers, beginning to see the connection because even this small girl right in front of him has undergone the same thing.
"Nah.. I don't think Zero will ever tell you what I just said. He's the type who lets go of all the bad half of his past and just move on. ...Then again, you know him better than me, Miki, so I'm not betting anything," he chuckled a bit, nor regaining back his usual mirth with just a simple laugh. "It's just like Faun said; That boy's one of a kind. Now I'm wondering if he's born like that, or you're the one who sparked that into him."
Hunter then pulls Miki's dainty hand off of his cheek as gently as he can manage, since Eve's glaring at him and he could feel Zero's aura prickling his spine and threatening him. "You're saying that as if you're his mother. C'mon Miki, though you're growing old, you still look young, maybe it's the angelic glowiness. Plus, you have the spirit of a youth," he complimented, really meaning it. To Hunter, age doesn't stop a woman from being a woman.
The tall man wishes he could slip out his phone right now and record this juicy bit that Miki's currently talking about; that Zero came first before her romantic relationships and that they're married, spiritually at least. Though then again, since Miki's Miki, she had probably told this to Zero...or will to, so Hunter ruled out his mischievous idea.
"Soulmates, huh? Man, what I'd give to travel the whole world to find that one person that was created just for me.." he joked, scratching his hair as he does so. "Wait. No. What if that person's a guy...and I'm like spiritually married to him... Ew.." Shivering at his own pondering, Hunter shook his head while laughing that out.
At Miki's offer to show them something, Hunter nodded vigorously. Then the angel took out an old sketchbook out of nowhere, Hunter assumed its angelic magic, and leaned in close to take a look."Ohh, look at that. You drawed all these? ....Wait. That kid looks like--"
He guessed right, because right after that, she admitted she forgot Zero. "Huh. He's your soulmate, alright. Normal people usually wouldn't care whatever they've forgot...some say it's a way of the heart to heal...sometimes develop." Hunter's smile soured a bit when Miki mentioned her abusive childhood. He's just glad the crazy dad didn't tore her limbs apart or something.
"No," Hunter suddenly responded rather sternly to Miki's request to heal Zero's right arm, "Everything happens for a reason, and so far, I'm very glad that arm of his is weak." He sounded completely serious, staring at the angel's eyes, "I know your intentions are good, Miki, but if you heal that arm, Zero might kill someone with it...accidentally. The very reason why people are alive during his volcanic eruptions is because the impact of his punches are reduced by more than half."
Hunter looked out the window for a short while, and then turned back to the blonde angel, "Faun said so himself. Zero's anger is a trigger to this massive strength. So if you restore that arm to its full health, and Zero snapped again, he could literally snap people's jaw off, rattling the brain...and could actually kill people with his bare hands. You know how uncontrollable he is during those phases.." Hunter doesn't know how to say this, Faun's the one who's good at assuring people.
"...Okay, look at it this way. Zero's doing fine so far. As long as he doesn't realize that his good left arm has the potential to kill people since he kept using his right one to punch, everything's good. We don't want the boy to get in that emotional shockride of accidentally killing an innocent now... That ride ain't fun AT ALL."
After Hunter's done explaining, he slapped a hand over his mouth, then quickly apologizes, "Gah, I'm so sorry! Ahahah! Hanging out with you is turning me into a babbling old man, forgive me. Don't tell Zero anything about that."
Hunter smiled wide though when Miki mentioned she even stores in Zero's old toys despite the 10 year gap AND her amnesia before. This soulmate thing s really starting to impress Hunter.
"Indeed. All things happens for a reason, it all revolves around that. ...Eve, you're being awfully quiet, which is rare. What, you're amazed I can spout out intelligent things for once? Hahah~"

Mitsuko listened to Hunter's explanation and agreed even though she wanted to heal Zero, perhaps this was his signature so to speak. She didn't want Zero to be in pain at all but Hunter of course being wise made some very strong points, so she won't interfere. She nodded at the fact that she understood.
"Aright Hunter I won't heal his arm,. Perhaps this.. This is the way it should be. And I know I sound like a mother but that is just my personality I can't help it or change it. When I really love someone I really do. It's no joke. I haven't said I love you to him yet but I will on our friend anniversary. You know Zero is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. He has a temper on him but still a best friend knows everything about you but loves you anyway. He makes me feel that I can do anything."
"Because of the abuse I have been through I find myself sometimes questioning myself when I start reflecting on how my father treated me. Zero makes me feel protected, I also can't picture myself arguing with him at all. Sure no relationship is perfect but there is just something about Zero and my bond where we connect and understand. The only time Zero and I argue, well its more like fun arguments and we sound like we are married."
"I wrote this other thing a while ago.
"It's okay to believe in something,
"It's okay to have faith,
"It's okay to have a mutual trust in another person, It's okay to tell someone "I love you" It's okay to let tears flow when need be, it is a form of release from all the negative emotions but at the same time, it is okay to cry tears of joy. The littlest things make me happy so I cry tears of joy now and again it just means that it touched my heart and soul.
It's okay to smile- It's okay to dream.
It's okay to appreciate life.

Eve looked at Hunter and smacked his arm but teared up at everything she heard. The dangerous beauty looked at Miki afterwards and nodded in agreement with Hunter's explanation.
"We both understand your feelings Miki but it's like what Hunter said. Perhaps Zero's arm got injured for a reason so then that way he won't be involved in hurting someone innocent since you know the types of people he protects. He doesn't hurt innocent people he protects them, From what Hunter told us about what Zero went through it seems to me that he really does care for you a lot. He cried for you. I also get the feeling it wasn't just his regret for leaving you Miki. It's because.... he missed you.
You helped him. In more ways then you realize. He's not broken anymore because of you. Sure he still has some things to work out, and he has a weak arm, but you still impacted him in such a big way. You've taken care of him for 11 years.... Now I bet there will be a time where the tables will turn and he'll have a chance to take care of you too."

Jean soon came back upstairs and just stood out in the hallway listening to the conversation between Hunter, Mitsuko and Eve. Hunter had given Mitsuko the bigger picture that surrounded Zero’s life at HQ. While Jean could tell that it broke Mitsuko’s heart to hear all these things, he knew that there was a silver lining behind all of this. That silver lining was Zero being the survivor, and being so strong, more so than Zero realized for himself.
Part of that strength that Jean could figure out that Zero drew upon was the strength of his best friend since she believed in him so much. As Jean observed their relationship for so long now, he could tell that they have a love in the purest form possible. While it maybe hard for outsiders to comprehend this, that love that Jean saw right in front of him was one that wasn’t seeking out a romantic opportunity. The common love that the chief has seen all his life was one with romantic intentions. He had a little secret of his own, in his own heart.
He was slowly falling in love himself, but he wasn’t going to come on too strongly, as well as the fact that he was dealing with a big age difference issue. So because of Zero and Miki’s relationship it was refreshing to see a love that had no romantic intentions but more so just pure with no strings attached or expectations. As for his own love life, he knows that it is best to form a bond first and then see where it takes him and Rose from there. Jean knows though what he is feeling, but he won’t speak of it to anyone.
Chief knew that people misunderstood Zero and Mitsuko’s relationship, but of course on the other hand, the only people that knew how their bond formed first hand was Zero and Mitsuko themselves. They were there from the very beginning, and experienced it. Other people just know the story. Jean knew that Mitsuko really loved Zero with her whole heart and if anyone asked her to renounced her feelings she wouldn’t. She wouldn’t give up this magical bond.
The times that Jean had spent with Mitsuko talking to her for hours and hours about her friendship with Zero it touched him. The emotional impact that they made upon each other, and how Mitsuko touched Zero’s heart, it moved Jean, that he even found himself crying a little bit out of happiness.
Soon he walked in after taking in the emotional conversation and hugged Mitsuko. When he hugged her though it was a chain reaction, which caused her to cry a little more due to the fatherly feelings she was experiencing from Jean, and she hadn’t experienced a stable fatherly figure in her life, so that was her reason for crying just a little harder.
“It’s alright Mitsuko let it out.. let your emotions out. There is no shame in anything that you are experiencing right now.. I know it’s overwhelming for you…. Its like these things you never experienced properly such as love and affection from your dad is rushing to you like a speeding train, especially since you are an adult now and not a child. When you become an adult you realize things that you never really understood at a young age."
"Miki I will be honest with you right now. I can’t stand the fact that your dad mistreated you or anyone in fact. I stand corrected. It does piss me off, and I understand why you love Zero as much as you do. You never got the chance to really give someone your love without a particular person stomping all over your heart. Even if they didn’t mean to, or did it unintentionally, it doesn’t excuse the fact that they did. When was the last time someone said I love you to you?"
Jean looked into Mitsuko’s eyes and could tell she hadn’t heard, or seen those words in years. It has been so long she can’t even remember the last time she even heard it.
“Exactly my point. No one has the right to go through this life without hearing or seeing the words I love you. Those words reinforce the fact that you are precious to someone and someone cherishes you. It’s not all about the romance factor. That’s the point you try and get across isn’t it? I do love you Miki as a father. And that is a promise.”
"Each time your dad spent hitting you, is a waste of his life, he can hit you many times, but you never did give up did you? You are still here and you are helping Zero with his issues. Everyone has some sort of emotional baggage that they have to carry around, and deal with, but we are human no life is ever perfect, Zero loves you so much he constantly spoke about you, when he didn't find you yet. He's always there for you, and so is Hunter and Eve, and Rose. We'll listen when you need to talk to us."

Hunter heaved off a sigh of relief to know that Miki understands what he's trying to say about Zero's condition. He was starting to get worried if Miki were to exhibit tenaciousness, then Hunter could easily fall back. What's more is Faun will NOT like to see that arm of Zero's all healed once he returned.
"..Miki? Have you ever had a best friend, after Zero left, before this?" Hunter suddenly asked, knowing Miki she could easily gain a number of friends around her, but it still made Hunter curious. The way she said about best friends is the clue.
Hunter just placed his arms against his stomach to hold on to as he listened to what the angel wrote, and the bounty hunter can't help but to smile. After she ended her speech, Hunter lightly claps, "Beautiful piece, Miki. Truthful to the very last fullstop."
Hunter laughed at Eve's smack on his arm and glanced to his side in order to look out the window. Back then, it wasn't surprising to see Zero crying, he's just a little child, it was expected to him. What others didn't expect though, was the reason of that child to cry. It wasn't out of pain, it was out of love.
Hunter was the first to notice the chief at the door, since Hunter's facing the door to behind with, and just sat there at the windowsill as Jean made his way an embrace his daughter figure. Chief's experience gave a wave of relief to Hunter, personally, since though he can definitely be the listening ear, Hunter's not much of a hugger, nor the best adviser.
He has a calm look in his eyes as he listened to Jean, part of his speech Hunter had took upon himself for reflection too, especially the part that every human wishes to feel appreciated and loved. Immediately, Hunter's eyes wilted down, a certain particular face popped up at the back of his mind. He sighed silently too, fingers unconsciously snaked its way to his pants pocket.
'..Ah, what the hell.' And in the midst of Jean's comforting words to the angel, Hunter fished out his phone from his pocket, typed in a short but direct, "Hey. Just saying I love ya" then stared for the longest time at the receiver's name section.
Before he has any second thoughts, he quickly pressed the send button, snaps close his phone and slips his phone back in his pocket, just in time as the chief ended his speech. "Yeah Miki, I mean, c'mon, Zero even talks about you in his sleep. It's kinda annoying after some time, since...well, I was trying to sleep," and as quick as a flash, he joined back in the conversation since nobody caught sight of him fiddling with his phone.
"But I got used to it after a decade, because...well, here you are! The angel he talks about since 10 years ago, in the flesh! Hah...man, lots of people laughed and ridiculed his mental capacity because some doesn't believe in angels.." Hunter had lost count how many laughing faces passed by little Zero when he excitedly tries to tell people how he met an angel, "..The boy was so furious he rebuked so hard, probably 'cuz in his eyes, it's like they're laughing at you instead of him. Heh.."

Mitsuko just let herself go in Jean’s embrace so much so that she just kneeled on the floor with him still holding her. There was more that Hunter had to know before she told Zero since a lot of her confessions were painful. One more thing that she had to tell Hunter and Jean was what her dad beat her with. She took a minute to compose herself and she admitted something, something that took guts for her to say, and she will tell Zero once he returns. Now that she knows about what Zero actually had been through at this very place she was going to return the favor in letting go of this secret.
“My dad he…beat me with his belt a few times… and even with an axe handle. I am thankful to not have any scars, but… The pain. Another reason why I understand Zero and his pain is because I experienced physical pain myself. That’s why everything your telling me Hunter is breaking my heart, because I know.
“And yes Hunter I did end up meeting a wonderful woman named Iku who soon became like a sisterly figure to me. The last time I saw her was a year ago though, I am not sure where she is right now at the moment. She and her husband are leaders of the dragons, and even he has gone too. Remember though when Zero left I ended up losing my memory so I had no recollection of him until a few months ago. Iku is still my sisterly figure, now matter how far apart we are we will always be friends. But Zero will always be a part of my child hood memories, even into adulthood.”
“And I kissed Zero downstairs not only to help put Kevin in his place, but again, it was my angelic connection to him. Each kiss I give him comes from my heart and soul, and it has an healing power. Emotionally he has to be put together again, but I know he is making headway already, even if he doesn’t realize it.”

Jean was growing more and more furious on the inside as Mitsuko made her confession about what her dad did to her. But due to the example that Jean is setting for his fellow bounty hunters he just breathed in and out to calm himself. This fragile woman that he was embracing not as a friend but as a father was mistreated both physically and mentally. Jean knew that she needed protection from biological dad big time. If he was capable of beating her with various objects god knows what else he could do to cause her harm.
Though he had a very bad feeling, so much so that he wanted to keep a close eye on Mitsuko, or at least until her biological dad was put away for good.It scared him to no end that Kouji was out there ready and waiting to harm Mitsuko in the worst possible way, and whenever these bad feelings come on Jean he is usually right. In Jean’s eyes in a much more personal level a father figure means someone that is always there for their child and teach them right from wrong, and love the child unconditionally. Kouji was no father. He had only one connection to Mitsuko and that was a biological tie, since he did make her.
“Miki I want you to do something for Hunter and myself. When you go on your anniversary with Zero I want you to open up to him just a little bit more and tell him everything that you told us. Go somewhere private and talk to him. If you haven’t noticed sweetie there is no privacy at HQ for you both to have a proper heart to heart, and with this delicate information that you just disclosed with Hunter and myself and Eve Zero has to know this part. I’m not saying put a damper on your anniversary, but make use of the time you have with Zero, since quiet time is hard to come by while you are at HQ."
"My gut is telling me to tell you that you MUST tell him about where your dad hit you. Because when you add all of these things together, not only do they paint a clearer picture to him of what you went through, but also reinforces the fact why you need hugs, and love, and affection.”
Jean cleared his throat before he continued, his facial expression had that kind caring fatherly figures to him but at the same time he showed his serious side.
"You need all of those things because like you said you didn’t get a lot of it, and when you did it just slipped away from you like a grain of sand since people left. The only people that conditioned you and gave you that chance at affection in both giving and receiving it were your mother, god parents and your brother Jake right? And not to bag on your other brother but….”
Mitsuko’s and Jean’s voice went in unison since they both knew what the other was going to say.
“He didn’t show the affection to you, and its hard to condition a relationship when you move from place to place.”
“Miki… Will you do me this favor..? Don’t hide it from Zero, he may hold even more daggers against Kankorou but…. Since Zero loves you so much it is to be expected.”
