Mitsuko could just feel his emotions resonating with hers. Considering that they have a strong bond, and an emotional connection, their feelings couldn't be hidden from the other, even if they tried. The angel gently took his hand and pulled him up to stand. "Everything is okay, I'm with you." She slowly hugged him from behind, just like she did when he was a kid but she no longer had to kneel at his level anymore. She then gave him some more encouraging words.
"You are safe and sound, you are strong, and you are making it. Even if someone tries to hurt you again, I won't let them. They have to go through me to get to you. Because at this very moment, we are here with each other, not apart."
"And... I am not sure what the game plan is about the security measures but perhaps.... you could help me protect these children. You are fast with your gun if you need to use it... And you like children right? You would be perfect for the job."
She finished hugging him and made him look into her eyes. "So is it official then? You're in with this massive project? I'm sure we will all enjoy making Veyyard a happier place.."

When Mitsuko grabbed hold of his hand to pull the boy up, Zero can't help reminiscing of yet another memory. This angel had pulled him up to his feet several times, and it's not just physically. The thought of how she's still doing it even after their 10 years gap amazes him.
Though the embrace caught him off-guard.
It took a lot out of him to not screamed out by that, even his arms are inside her hug, so he can't even do anything except standing there and lets himself immersed by her words and warmth. His gaze is fixed towards the ground, staring at a lone pebble there while his mind takes him far off from where he's standing. He recalled just how many times Mitsuko hugged him from behind like this, and it almost made him smile that he actually counted each embrace.
"27..." he whispered to himself. Might as well continue counting. "You know, that's supposed to be my line," he spoke up after she said that she won't let anyone hurt him, then brings up his constrained hand and just patted the angel's arms that's hugging him.
"And of course I would protect the children, I still live in Veyyard, that has been my part-time job whenever I'm free. ....W-wait, how on earth do you know I like children??" He partly turned his head sideways to glance at her, but then Mitsuko released him so he can turn around and face her.
She has that eyes again. Zero would do one of his facepalms if given the chance and moment to do so. Those large pleading eyes, and the bluish tinge of her irises only further made it almost impossible to say no. Though, Zero doesn't plan to thankfully, he already said he's fine with the idea.
"Yes, yes, I'm in, but please don't do that again, Miki. You want me to fall for you?" He intended that as a joke, but as he replayed the words in his mind, he really hopes Mitsuko didn't misinterpreted his words.

"Hahaha what? Fall for me? yeaaaaaah right hahaha now now, you and I both know our bond is like family. Though if you ever have plans to get married, or fall in love with someone then its not going to be me."
She laughed, she teased him just a bit about the situation, though then became serious, and gave him her famous advice.
"I've been in love before, and it really wasn't easy, I mean it does take two people to make a relationship work. Once you let it bloom like a rose just starting out it can be a beautiful thing."
"While it didn't work out for me in the end, that hasn't stopped me from sharing my love with other people.. Non romantically of course. I can't pretend that the love doesn't exist in my heart for my friends... You never know when your day is going to be your last..."
"The day that I have to return to heaven.... and it is the last day for me in being on this earth... There are words I want to say, before I go home. Special words."
"Those are the words I want people to hear... And those are the words I want people to remember."
She smiled at Zero.
"I want you to know that I am happy to be your guardian angel. I'm going to make each day count! And speaking of which... Do you have a number I can contact you at?"
Mitsuko was going to invite Zero over for a special surprise, though the first thing she had to do was go home, and re look at her present, and prepare a few other things.

Zero heaved out a sigh of relief when his best friend saw that statement as what he intended, then smiled. She knows him inside and out after all, they're practically like soulmates, only more platonic. "Hey hey, don't go too far of a topic like marriages, okay? I've been teased enough about it at HQ."
His smile drops when Mitsuko uncovered her love story. Zero wasn't surprised at all that she still kept showering people with her care and love, even if some didn't work out. He felt like he wants to whack those fools on the head for being stupid enough to missing it out, but at the same time, he's glad too, because they have probably made her stronger. A lot stronger than Zero ever can, internally.
Mainly it's because the boy haven't really encountered such feelings yet. All he has is Mitsuko so far, and that's only sibling-love.
So when Zero hears of how beautiful love can truly be, it sort of enlightens him a bit. And hearing from the person he trusts the most, the feeling further made him curious as to how that's going to be for him if he ever loves someone that badly.
The bounty hunter looked at the angel thoughtfully when she brings up that smile of hers again. "Special words..?" Once mitsuko spoke up of what she wants, Zero blinked at her a few times initially, absorbing that in his head, then smiled. He's forever thankful that fate has granted him the chance to meet this angel in the first place, she has basically changed his life for the better, so what can stop her from making each day counts?
"Hah.. Do whatever you want, Miki. I'm just...especially grateful here that I'm almost speechless," his smile seems to be so genuine as he said that. At the request of his number, the bounty hunter then slipped in his jacket to take out a card and gives it to Mitsuko. "I just got a cellphone, but it was...broken..in the middle of my last bounty," the smile on Zero's face considerably lessens at the thought of the idiot who tried to shoot him, and it hits his brand new phone right inside his jacket. The thing saved him, sure, but that still costs a lot..
"So here's my partner's number. His name's Hunter. He's usually around me every minute of the day, so when you need me, just call him. ...Until I fixed my cell or something."

She looked at him and once she heard that he gets teased about marriages at headquarters something clicked. After all the angel gets teased too at the inn since she has a picture of Zero and her on the nightstand in her dorm.
"You too?" her eyes widened a bit, and her cheeks filled with that peachy colour.
"Guess what? I get teased about having a boyfriend, whenever I am at the Alamo Inn. I'm sure you've heard of this waitress, and her name is Madame May. She has been teasing me a lot lately about me having a secret admirer..... What's embarrassing is the fact that she teases me in front of my friends, the cook and the customers."
She let out a sigh. "It seems they get a kick out of it. hahaha..."
Mitsuko took the business card that Zero gave her and giggled a bit. "Who put that smiley face there? Your partner? ^_^.."
"I've got two numbers. One is to call downstairs to Madame May- for example if my cellphone is turned off if I am in the middle of something, then Madame May would relay the message to me. This number is the one that you can reach me directly."
She gave Zero both numbers and put the business card in her address book.
"It was so nice seeing you again Zero. We must make plans to spend time together okay?"
She hugged him gently as a goodbye and slowly let him go and started to make her way back to the Alamo Inn, though before she exited the place fully she looked back at him and waved and said a thank you.
"Thanks for saving my life earlier Zero ^_^"

Zero can't believe Mitsuko has gone through the very same thing he went through at his headquarters; being teased at. Though, by how her face changed color, what else is he supposed to do except believing her. "You too, huh Peach?"
He guessed the difference of both of their suffering is that Mitsuko's case might be worst than him, because somehow tis Madame May knows Zero exists. In his HQ however, the hunters just generally teased him without any ideas that there's a specific woman in his life. ...It might get worst when Hunter knows of Mitsuko's existence.
Like Zero can do anything to stop that blabbermouth, anyway.
The boy was caught off-guard when Mitsuko commented of a smiley face on the card. "What??" When he took a second glance, it's apparent there definitely is a smiley face there. Zero slapped a palm on his face, that is so like Hunter. "Ugh, I'm sorry about that, he likes to fool around a lot.."
After he received both the numbers from her, he placed them safely inside his jacket. Zero just stayed silent when Mitsuko promised that they would spend some time together, gave him a hug, then made her way back down the valley. The young man just stood there, watching her disappearing from his sight, unconsciously waving his hand.
"Thank YOU...for letting me found you," he can hear his own words echoing as he said that. When she disappeared from his sight, Zero sighed. The day is darkening, and he was left in shock of his luck into bumping the very person he's been searching for 10 long years.
It made him smile, and at the same time at a loss of what to do. He brings out the paper of the two numbers Mitsuko gave to him, and just stared at it for the longest time, until he felt a smack on his shoulder.

"THERE YOU ARE!" A man in his twenties slapped a large secure palm on Zero's shoulder, then flashes that infamous goofball-grin he always wears whenever Zero's around. Or rather, whenever he has the chance to show off that grin of his. "Now don't you dare leave me behind like that ever again. Did you get the guy?" he took a glance of Zero's handgun at his wrist and just simply touched the handle. By how warm it is, Hunter nodded, "Okay, he's dead. Good job~" With a very brotherly ruffle on Zero's hair, Hunter then noticed what the boy is holding. Numbers? The lad doesn't even seemed to flinch when the older bounty hunter ruffled his hair as he just stared down at the paper, almost as if blocking everything that happened around him. "..Zero? Listen, it's getting late. Come on, let's go home, kay?" Locking his arm around the younger boy's shoulder, Hunter then leads Zero down the valley. He'll ask-- no. He'll interrogate about the numbers later, when they both had their well-deserved rest. It took a lot out of them to hunt the criminal. "I have no idea what happened, but... Its nice to see you smiling for once, Zero."[End Thread]
