Name: Leonard de Piero ("Leo")
Age: 19 years old
Height: 170cm | 5'7
Race: Human
Class/Occupation: Artist / Artificer / Inventor / Traveller
Country of Origin: Gradia
Residence: Leo travels constantly, so he never actually resides in a certain place for long. Though, he can be seen walking around in either Veyyard or Ianne quite a lot.
Background: As an only child with a single mother, Leo is raised in an ordinary home in Gradia with typical surroundings normal for a growing boy...it's just that he himself is abnormal. The walls of his house is usually filled with doodles of his crayons and colorful handprints. The mother was so annoyed, she hid all of crayons and paints...until Leo discovered he can use coals.. He has the blood of a painter inside him from his father and that truly shaped his interest with arts and designs in an early age.
Once his mother died when he was 12, Leo took off to travel alone out of depression, and got himself bullied by a group of seniors. They stashed Leo inside a random pit. It turns out, the poor boy lost his mother's ring there, so he dig in the dirt and accidentally got himself stumbled inside an abandoned underground mechanical chamber...made by some scientists years back for their research on artificial intelligence.
The whole chamber was made out of metal apparently, and the technologies there, though rusted, excites Leo. The boy can't get out, and he was stuck inside the chamber for years, only manage to live through by the mushrooms and fungi growing around. Though, Leo used the time he was inside the chamber wisely, learning and exploring every nook and cranny there, discovering journals and notes the former scientists living there had scribbled...and even took on the challenge to handle a spanner to try on building a mechanical object to aid him to freedom.
Finally, after 4 and a half years, Leo had successfully escaped the underground laboratory...with plenty of new skills, ideas and inspirations. Almost immediately, Leo sets out to travel with a new aim; to learn. He brings along an empty journal for his own records, and after a while, created his first mechanical gadget that shook the town; a polyhedra-like rubix cube thing that could detect a person's honesty through thermal-detector. The word of his sudden appearance from the forgotten chamber plus his ingenious creation spreads fast, and before he knew it, many knows his name.
3 years had passed, and Leo has grown into a fine young lad. He had made a lot of profit from his freestyle paintings and an entire vault of fortune from his continuous developing inventions starting from small useful gadgets, to efficient appliances, and finally to mechanical robot-like creatures. The boy had learnt all the twists and turns of evading his growing (unwanted) fame and fortune, since his main target to even live is to pursuit knowledge...not money.
He disguised himself every day to hide from others who hunt him to ask of his assistance in building a mechanism, fixing a weapon or simply a painting. Leo tends to avoid these tasks, since he can't say no, that makes him unable to stay in one place for long. Leo then decides to travel outside of Gradia for a change to gain access in some of the places he haven't been to before in order to hide from his increasing fame, and also to just sit back, relax, and enjoy life as he likes it...while designing a monstrous mechanism at the same time.
Personality: Though his nickname is "Leo", he doesn't roar like a lion at all, much less expressing courage often in his relaxed peaceful demeanor. In fact, his name and talents is compared a lot to the famous Italian genius, Leonardo da Vinci. Leo is very unenthusiastic(unless he's in a position he love, then he can be highly motivated and cheerful) and his blank expression often hides the genius young inventor he truly is.
Though talented, Leo doesn't like to receive credits and attention for his work, as he tends to stay in the background, preferring to watch others quietly from a distance. His style of thinking is unpredictable, crazy and weird in a way...and that outbreak sometimes escapes his usually quiet attitude. Leo also has a unique style of walking, as he sort of saunters by, so he will less likely be noticed.
Under stress, Leo would try to keep peace, but eventually will pull away and gives up entirely of something. He's a decent craftmenship, but he has no drive to finish any one of his half-complete projects. Due to Leo's compromising attitude and sluggish behavior, he often got himself bullied more than once each day. Because of that, the poor boy is forced to keep changing his image, wearing different costumes each day, and living in various places to avoid attention.
In short, Leo's just your average wimpy genius.
Strengths: His late mother once told him, "Your greatest strength, Leonard, is your lack of obvious weaknesses." This reflects Leo's whole identity. He is adept, being skilled in any field he choose to dive in, and very flexible with how he uses these skills. Leo is extremely creative and highly innovative, sketching out a design that came into his head in his journal as quick as it comes to him. Leo is primarily a painter, which gives him that edge to see out of the box often. He stands out more in time of pure crisis, as his inner Leo rises to calm a raging storm. Leo has no obvious flaws, but within that contented face of his, hides a deep will of iron.
Weaknesses: Leo is exceptionally weak both physically and mentally, sadly. Since he lacks the teachings of a man, he doesn't even know how to stand up for himself when bullied, so Leo often backs down in any arguments or fights, even when he's right. This young genius also lacks enthusiasm and energy, and almost always hide when trouble arise. Leo tends to experiment a lot constantly too, and frequently ending up into disastrous results. His chronic procrastination doesn't help at all, as he just left 30 or so unfinished paintings and metal parts under the sun. Leo also grows with a pair of delicate feminine-like hands, and his large blue eyes almost always make others mistook him of being a female.
Appearance:
Additional info: Leo is a lefty and his notes and drawings inside his journal are written in mirror-image cursive, so it's easier for him to write from right to left. He also owns a huge brown bag, which he change its design almost every day to avoid people spotting him, compact with brushes, charcoals, pencils, papers, bolts, nuts, wrenches, some spare metal parts, other art and mechanical tools and of course, his journal.

"What is it about this world that makes it cruel and beautiful at the same time? ...It's a question too difficult to ponder upon for a short time, as it requires a life-long speculation for the answer. Thus, that is why I live."
