Drea and Kieru had been in the air for a long time now. For a while they discussed some things but now it seemed that their minds had gone blank on what to talk about. Kieru was focused on watching the world go past beneath them and feeling the wind while Drea was busy flying them somewhere. They had decided a while back that it didn't matter where they flew to but they both wanted a change of scenery.
They had spend the past couple years at the school in Ianne and finally decided to take a trip out exploring together. Kieru's memories of traveling before she arrived at the school had always made Drea curious and she was the most excited to finally be doing this. After a while of flying, however, Drea was starting to get tired. When she spotted a peaceful area with a waterfall she decided to land there for a little while and began to descend.
When she noticed Drea was descending, Kieru's attention perked up and she looked at Drea. "What is it?" Her mind had been rather blank for a while, feeling at peace with the wind and watching around her. She had been a rider for almost a couple years now but she was still always amazed when they were in the air.
"There's a waterfall." Drea told her. "I am getting a bit tired and a drink would be nice." Like Kieru, Drea tends to push herself a little more than she should but she also knows better when she should take a break and that was something she had to teach Kieru during their times training together.
"Hold on." Drea warned, waiting until Kieru got a good grip before diving towards the ground quickly, doing a little spin in play on the way, then swooping up a bit to avoid crashing and somewhat gracefully landed right by the waterfall. Not bothering to wait until Kieru got off, Drea walked towards the falls and jumped straight across, purposely trying to get Kieru wet. Knowing Kieru would be a bit annoyed at this tease, Drea started laughing a bit to herself.
Kieru held on tight when instructed, knowing this was Drea's favourite way to get closer to the ground faster. When Drea had landed, Kieru released her grip and was about to get off before her friend moved again. Kieru's eyes widened as she realized what Drea was planning to do an she lifted her arms above her head as an automatic reaction and shouted, "Hey!" as she went through, getting Kieru almost fully soaked.
Kieru looked a bit annoyingly at Drea, who was already laughing at her. Unable to stay mad at her companion, Kieru cracked a slight smile. That was mean." She noted, lightly smacking Drea's back then proceeding to climb off so that she could dry herself. She walked past Drea, giving her a slightly annoyed look mixed with a small smile that she couldn't fully contain. Kieru removed her weapon pack from her back, taking her sword and staff out and setting the staff out, stabbing the sword in the ground. She hung the cloth pack over the sword to help it dry a bit faster.
Kieru then removed most of her clothes, laying them out on dry ground so that they could dry off then walked back towards the lake. She remained in some cloth wrappings that resembled a strapless top and shorts, her belly exposed.
Drea laughed a bit more at having gotten Kieru wet while she was walking past her and began setting her stuff out to dry. When Drea stopped laughing, she turned back towards the water and began to drink from the falls. "Mmmm, that's good," She thought as she continued to drink until she was sick of the water then found a place between the falls and Kieru's clothes to lay down a bit curled up and rest.
When Kieru was finished, she headed towards the falls after Drea and drank some of the falling water as well. She looked into the clear lake then and walked away from the falling water to the calmer area and climbed in. She fully submerged herself to swim down a bit, looking around before swimming back to the surface.
The water felt really nice and Kieru then decided to lay on her back and float on the water for a little bit while she rested before she would get out to dry off. After a little of that, Kieru went under again and swam back to the edge and climbed out. She looked around over her belonging then to Drea and a small smiled formed on her lips at the dragon. She then turned back towards the water and let out a small sigh and sat down at the edge. One leg was crossed under the other that had her knee lifted. She leaned against her lifted knee, her hands clasped around the ankle as she watched the water.

Flying through the skies Mitsuko was just in a peaceful state of mind. A flight is what she needed to embrace her flooding memories that have been coming to her. Though it is best not to harp on those for a while since she has already mentioned it to a friend already.
She sighed a little but just smiled. She knew that things will become better for her, but all things do take time. The breeze blew in her hair gently and she flew above the waterfalls she saw a young woman relaxing with her dragon.
"Another rider? Oh my where have I been? I must have missed a lot." She giggled a bit and kept flying above them, even though she didn't know the young woman she still gave her a friendly wave.
"Hello~ It such a beautiful day? wouldn't you agree?"

Kieru's eyebrows creased inwards as she saw a reflection of something in the water briefly. She looked up to see what appeared to be an angel coming towards her. Kieru's first thought was 'beautiful'. Drea was peacefully napping.
When the angel spoke to her, Kieru wasn't sure what to do. She still wasn't sure if this was a mirage or not. "Yes...... it is...." After a bit of staring at this angel, Kieru started to think this angel looked a bit familiar and perhaps she had seen her somewhere before. "What is your name? Mine is Kieru." She asked, wondering if her name would give her a clue.

"Kieru? Oh that's a beautiful name. So unique... And your name sounds so peaceful. ^_^ that's nice! My name is Mitsuko. I feel as if I have seen you around before.. however I don't think we have had the pleasure of meeting..."
The angel slowly landed in front of Kieru, and took her hand in hers gently and shook it.
"Hmmm... come to think of it... did you go to DD the school perhaps? You must have right? I mean you are another dragon rider. My brother is one too... "
"I apologize for not greeting you sooner.... I guess we must have passed each other and didn't even know it."

Kieru stood as the angel seemed to be landing and shook hands with her. This wasn't a greeting Kieru was familiar with but she went along with it, trying to be more open to things. "I did attend DD before." She answered. "Really? I wonder if I have met your brother before or not. Although I am sure that I did not meet all of the other riders there. I have only more recently become a rider. "
Kieru was a little surprised that this angel was apologizing for such a thing. "Really, there is no need to apologize. When there are a lot of other people around, it is hard to greet and get to know everyone." Kieru reasoned to Mitsuko. "It is nice to finally meet you now, though, Mitsuko."

The angel giggled but she had a soft happy expression on her face. She could tell that this young woman hadn't been greeted with a hand shake before but the angel smiled anyway. Even though these two had just met she could see herself being a good friend to Kieru if given the chance.
"It's nice to meet you too! And I apologized since I felt bad. It's not like me not to greet someone, especially if they are new. I hope you didn't feel ignored or anything. Since that is one of the worst feelings anyone can ever experience."
"So you recently became a rider hm? I remember my brother Kankorou's test which was a few years ago. Ever since that day he found his love to patrol the skies just like he always did back at the academy. So if you ever see a red dragon, with a young man that is my brother. Hahaha his dragon has a habit of bowing to me though as if I am a princess... though while I told him that I appreciate his respect having someone bow to me makes me.... well.. a little embarrassed."
"Oh.. Here I go again talking someone's ear off. Sorry you must think I have such a big mouth haha."
Mitsuko looked at Kieru and had a feeling that she had a beautiful soul. Mitsuko always sees the good in someone and that's when she said:
"Did anyone ever told you that you are so pretty? ^_^ Beauty comes from within and I have a feeling you have such a beautiful soul inside of you."

Kieru listened to Mitsuko explaining her apology then lowered her head a moment before looking at the angel again with a slight smile. "It's really okay.... Since I started at DD until a certain incident which eventually led me to the Weyr I had a tendancy to avoid others and keep to the background of things." Kieru explained.
Kieru listened closely to Mitsuko's story, remembering a boy with a red dragon who led her to Tyr so she could request to become a rider as well but she thought that boy was Tyr's younger brother. "That's alright." Kieru said to reassure Mitsuko that she wasn't bothering her by talking a lot.
When Mitsuko told her that she was pretty, Kieru's eyes fixated on the beautiful angel in slight surprise as a very tiny hint of pink made it's way onto her cheeks. She hadn't heard anyone call her pretty since before her last birthday in her village before they were killed. Recalling this, Kieru's head dropped a little and her eyes looked towards the ground. She didn't want to be thinking of this, but now at least she was stuck.
Kieru sat back on the ground again and looked across the water. "I haven't heard something like that in a long time..." She finally uttered a bit melancholic.

Mitsuko looked at her new friend but she had a feeling that her heart sunk a little. Kieru seemed saddened about something, and the angel didn't mean to bring up any bad memories if her compliment did make her a little sad. Mitsuko gently put a hand on her shoulder and just smiled.
"You seem sad.. But you know... you really are pretty. I'm just being honest about what I see in front of me. Sometimes people seem to forget that beauty isn't based just on physical appearances. And when we here things like: "You are pretty, kind etc it can play a major role in our self esteem and how we value ourselves right?"
The angel was gentle with her words as she possibly could be and she slowly gave Kieru a hug.
"It's okay, you now heard you are beautiful from someone that believes with her whole heart that you have a beautiful soul. No matter how troubled you are, no matter what memories you have of your past, there is going to be someone to bring you up. I get sad sometimes too."
"You know why I get sad? Because I miss my mother. She died when I reached my 5th birthday, but she died just by saving me. I... I miss the motherly affections that my mom provided for me. So one of the reasons why I look out for people so much.. is because I want to protect people so badly. It's okay to cry and let out the negative emotions in your heart. As long as you find your smile at the end."
"I want to make you smile... let's see... Oh I know! Milo!"
The angel called to her dove that was her companion from time to time and in the dove's beak was a birds of paradise bouquet which was bound with a ribbon so it wouldn't scatter everywhere as Milo flew.
"I grow flowers in my spare time at the Alamo Inn and these are my favorites. These are called birds of paradise which symbolize Joyfulness."
She took the bouquet from Milo's beak and gave it to Kieru.
"Consider it as a start of our friendship. ^_^"

Kieru stared off across the lake, lost in her memories and not hearing what Mitsuko was beginning to say. When she received a hug, however, her thoughts returned to the present. Kieru's eyes widened at the gesture slightly and she looked towards the angel hugging her. She heard what Mitsuko said this time but it didn't make her feel any better though she wasn't necessarily very sad, just a bit down which wasn't unusual for her.
Kieru looked at Mitsuko as she explained her past. Although it may have seemed a bit harsh had it been heard, Kieru thought that 5 was a young enough age to not be terribly troubled unless she actually saw something horrifically scarring.
When she called out something, Kieru looked towards her then noticed a dove flying towards them with a boquet of flowers and her eyes widened slightly in surprise. Kieru slowed outstretched her hands to receive the bouquet from Mitsuko. A very slight hint of a smile formed at the corners of her cheeks as she looked at the flowers at how pretty they were.
"Thank you." Kieru said more because of obligation at receiving a gift at first. She looked over at the angel and smiled slightly.

"You're very welcome Kieru. And you have a nice smile too. It brings me such joy to give things to other people whether it is love an affection, making people smile, giving them a present, or just spending time with people. I can tell that you are a nice person, and I'm glad to be a new friend of yours. Oh that reminds me...."
"I'm sorry I didn't bring my invitation but.. You see my friend Saiya and I are having a reunion party, there have been some people that we haven't seen in years in this domain so we thought having a party would give all of us a chance to get to reunite and meet some new people. I would be glad if you can come Kieru. Everyone is invited."
The angel glanced over at Kieru's beautiful dragon and smiled.
"So how do you like being a rider? Does it feel like a new adventure everyday? I know my brother loves the adventure that being a rider brings."

Kieru only half listened to Mitsuko while she looked at the flowers with a faint smile and started to daze off into memories of her home. When Mitsuko said something reminded her, Kieru snapped out of it and looked back at the angel again with a black look but slightly curious.
Kieru felt the tiniest hint of pink of her cheeks and smiled slightly. "I would be happy to attend. Where is it?" She asked, wondering if she would know anyone there.
Kieru looked back at Drea a moment as Mitsuko asked how she liked being a rider and smiled. "It's great." Kieru said. "A little uncomfortable at times knowing my thoughts are shared with another but I've been managing little by little to overcome things like that and work on trying to open up to others more. Drea has been a big help." She said, smiling at her dragon who let out a sort of purr or murmur of sorts and shifted a bit.

"Unfortunately we don't have a date set for the party, right now we are in the midst of preparing for it, We are in the flyer stage right now. But where it is located is at my place. The Alamo Inn. So that way people can stay the night. Hahaha,
"We are all taking our time to make this memorable for everyone. I remember I held a masquerade ball a few years ago, A lot of people had fun there too, but I don't remember if I stayed for the full thing or not since something happened. I just can't remember what though."
Mitsuko looked at Kieru, with kind eyes and noticed that she was having a trip down memory lane when she held onto those flowers.
"At least you are trying to be open right? It's never easy to open up to someone since there is a sense of vulnerability there. My best friend is like that too, but like you he is trying to open up to others, besides me and I see that. And there is nothing in this world that he can't tell me. You have a bond with your dragon and that is a given. Treasure that bond, since it is the greatest treasure. But I am sure you know that."
"I am a big lover for bonds. When I was an amnesiac And forgot about Zero.... I just kept drawing these pictures even though I didn't know his name... or who he was to me. Even though my mind forgot who he was... My heart never did. It just meant that I would love him all over again. It was hard for me to not know who my best friend was or what crucial role he plays in my life. And the crucial role I play in his life."
"No matter what you go through Kieru, you are never truly alone, you have your dragon, and I'll look out for you too."

Kieru watched her dragon a moment longer while listening to Mitsuko before turning her attention to the angel. "It is a hard thing, accepting others as friends... after losing so many at one time..." She said in response, a hint of sadness now showing in her eyes as they drifted to the side. Her body followed her eyes back to Drea as Mitsuko continued talking and the corners of her lips raised slightly while her eyes remained a bit saddened. "Yeah..." She responded to Mitsuko's comment about the bond with her dragon.
"Thanks..." She added after Mitsuko finished talking, her eyes now looking downward as she recalled the reason she avoided getting close to others in the first place since her village was murdered. She feared getting closed to others in the chance that they might be taken away from her as well. Fears are always difficult things to get over especially when it brings one to the point of having to decide whether to be alone or form bonds with others. Kieru felt somewhat nervous about becoming friends with Mitsuko and didn't know how to be truly happy about this. Her opinions felt torn but fear is always greater.
Drea began to stir more as if she was beginning to have a nightmare. She pushed at the ground with her feet a bit and made some gruffing noises.
Kieru looked up at Drea with a surprised look, feeling guilty now for allow her fear to affect Drea's dreams. She quickly rushed over to the dragon and put her hand on Drea where the neck met the head. "Drea, shh... It's alright." She said, forcing her negative feelings back. She pet the top of Drea's head and rested her forehead against her. "It's alright.." she said again quietly.
Drea slowly calmed back down as Kieru comforted her and let out a purr when she was fully calm, resting peacefully once more.

Mitsuko looked at her new friend, even if Kieru was going to be having a little difficulty in getting close to others, the angel will still be around to help her out if she needed it. She looked at Kieru and placed a hand on her shoulder gently.
"No one is saying that you have to become close to everyone. Just try to keep your heart open, not everyone is out there to hurt another. I know I wouldn't ever hurt you, I just help people because it's my nature, and it feels right for me to do so. Friends provide the support one needs to go on. I think it's important to make each count with those you care about. You care about your dragon and I can see that as clear as crystal."
"No matter what one goes throughout life you are never truly alone even if it feels that way. All of these obstacles that happen to us just make us stronger. You are probably thinking: What does an angel like me know about obstacles or even loss? Well the truth is, I have had my own set of challenges. It wasn't easy but... eventually I got through them. While the pain of losing someone is so powerful, we still need to try and live our lives to the best of our ability."
"I have a feeling that loss scares you too, and I agree with you entirely, but this is why its important to try and make each day count, and if you love someone let them know. Everyone grows at their own pace, just remember I'll guide you if want me to. I won't push you."

Kieru's body twitched slightly as she felt the angel's hand on her shoulder and she glanced over at her as she began to speak. As she went on, Kieru listened quietly, keeping her eyes on Drea again. Her mention about loss struck a bit of a cord again inside her and her muscles tensed as she watched Drea, thinking again about her beloved village and why she had, for the longest time, avoided getting close to anyone else.
Kieru took in slow, deep breaths as the angel spoke and released a final deep breath after she finished then slowly stood up to face the angel. She gave a slight not and quietly said "thanks" again. "It has so far been very hard for me... and although the fear still persists.... There's something about my bond with Drea that... helps me through it bit by bit. Without her, I would probably even still be avoiding speaking very much to anyone at all cost"
As she spoke, another memory flashed through her mind of the boys who helped her out, the one in particular who had saved her from the creature in the lake that stripped her of her abilities with his digestive fluids. She looked up at Mitsuko as she recalled the boy, trying to remember his name again. "There was another instance... at Diabolic Domain... That triggered my need to reach out..." She began to admit, a bit hesitantly and looked away again.
"Three of us were lost in the strange rooms... and I nearly died had it not been for this one person risking his life for me... I can't seem to recall his name at the moment, though..." Her brows were a bit furrowed as she recalled him and the incident, wondering if she would be able to see him again to properly thank him. At the time, she had been wishing he would not have jumped in due to the sheer danger of the beast that held her. Seeing as he did, however, and succeeded, he deserved a great deal of thanks that she could not remember providing him with due to her weakened state.
She looked off to the side still, in thought of this, then looked down at Drea, thinking that if not for the incident and him helping her out of it, she would not have been able to even attempt to open up anytime so soon.
