The village was peaceful. It was one of the few days that the bustling workers had a chance to relax, and not worry about the constant hassle of being a blacksmith. The wind drove through slightly, but barely enough to move Danny’s hair. The trees from the surrounding forest often kept the wind from becoming fierce. It was both a gift and a curse, for the lack of wind kept the ashes and smoke from blowing, but it created a sense of stillness for the town, as though they were not moving through time at all.
Sighing, Danny got up and walked towards the town’s edge. She was there because it was the closest civilization to her own home, and it also had trees, remaining one of the greenest areas that she had seen. And with those trees, were vines.
Danny smirked as she looked at a vine twisting its way up a tree. With a flick of her wrist, it slid down the tree and snaked its way towards her. She allowed it to wrap its firm stem around her and lift her towards the sky. The higher she got, the more breeze she felt. The more breeze she felt, the more free she was. It felt like a moment to just look into her past, to remember the life she had had, and the one that she wanted to live.
Danny looked down at the ground and laughed. This reminded her so much of the time that her old roommate from the school, Kida, had “bungee jumped” from their vine-made balcony. The memory brought a single tear to Danny’s eye, but she refused to let it fall. Its not logical. People come and go. It’s just how life is she thought as she wiped away the tear before it could fall down her cheek.
Looking towards the sky again, Danny closed her eyes and let the breeze sweep away her mind, and not worry about anything for the time being.
