Name: Kyori Takoma
Race: Human
Age: 22
Class/Occupation: Rogue Thief
Country of Origin: Ârthera, Veyyard
Current Residence: She travels from place to place and never remains in the same area for longer than a few days.
Background: Kyori was born from the womb of a prostitute in Ârthera. Abandoned as a baby on a doorstep, she was raised by a "family" of thieves. There were about five in the family when she was dropped off with them, the eldest being a rather clever woman named Merui who had started the "family". Keil and Emmet were the two young lads who had backed her up from the beginning. Then there was Marisol, a quiet and petite young woman with a vicious bite when provoked. Finally, there was Remi. Kyori had always felt closest to Remi, not just because he was the closest of all five of them to her age, but he had a sort of kindness in him that was especially rare in Ârthera. Remi had grown up in a different town and every night he would tell Kyori tales of the world, rights and wrongs, beauty and hope and all the wonderful things that existed out of the scum of the Earth that they now inhabited. He never told her of the bad things outside of the walls of Ârthera as there was nothing very much worse than the worst place in there.
As Kyori grew, new members would join here and there, sometimes staying forever and sometimes only coming to take a bit then leave. Pitri was an interesting man. He was an older man with a lot of joy. He stayed for a mere month and then was never seen again. No one was ever able to find the silver platter in the kitchen after that either. There was also a young woman named Karen. She was a dear young woman who, after mere weeks of living in Ârthera was raped and murdered one night a few blocks away from the building. When Kyori was almost ten, a couple of younger kids were brought in from the streets. Only five and seven, Jacob and Marie. Marie always had a weak heart and system. She died of pneumonia later that year. Jacob, unable to deal with the loss of his sister, ran away for many months. He eventually made it back to the building to remain with the family. Remi would comfort him during the nights like he used to comfort Kyori. Many other persons had entered and left Kyori's life and the building.
Kyori had spent all her years there learning from the best thieves in Ârthera. In that time, she did all she could to perfect her pick-pocketing skills, stealth and swift fighting and weaponry. Keil and Emmet enjoyed being her teachers the most. Marisol was hardly much of a teacher, never having liked Kyori too much. Though, she never seemed to like anybody too much. Merui was Kyori's wisest teacher, being the oldest and most experienced, though she learned more basic and complex knowledge from her rather than actual skills. Remi refused to teach her. She often questioned why, but he would never give an answer so she never bothered to push it. As she grew and younger folks were welcomed, Kyori would become their teachers sometimes.
Her eighteenth birthday was the last day she saw Remi. The next day they told her that he was left before dawn to seek new worlds. Kyori pondered over that for weeks, missing her dear friend quite a lot. After a while, she almost started to resent him, practically making up reasons to do so out of spite because he had left her. She began getting into fights with Marisol quite often because of her souring attitude. Day after day, Kyori felt like she was just slowly having the life choked out of her by just being there. So, after some months of this, Kyori decided it was her turn to leave and unleash herself upon the rest of the world. She had had enough of Ârthera, enough of her "family" and enough of losing people she liked, people who shouldn't be lost. And now it was finally her turn to be lost, she thought gravely. She would be the one leaving them, leaving her anger behind, leaving her thankfulness behind as well, beginning her own new life, learning her own lessons and creating her own self.
Without a word to anyone, Kyori sneaked away before the break of dawn one morning. It took her quite a while to find the one exit from Ârthera, even having a hard time being allowed to leave through those gates. Around every corner before coming upon them, she would move swiftly and stealthily, worried that she might become the next Karen if she wasn't careful. It did happen quite often, after all.
When she finally was able to make her way outside the walls, Kyori walked upon a nearby hill. It wasn't so much of a hill as a small rise of land but, to her at least, it was a hill. She stood upon it and looked back at Ârthera one last time, giving a nod and a small smug smile of victory then turned to leave. The next few years she spent wandering around from place to place, meeting many different people, stealing from most of them too, then moving on to someplace else. She left quite a few people behind her resentful because of her thievery, though the very few places she didn't take from were quite sad to see her go. She saw every moment as an adventure and every experience as a lesson well learned. The world was her jungle now, and she was going to explore it until she had reached every last inch or was somehow killed. The point being that she would no longer just be existing, she would be living to the very fullest.
Personality: Kyori tends to be rather happy and friendly around new people she meets, but don't let her seeming trustworthyness take your guard down! If she sees an opportunity, she would easily pickpocket someone in a second no matter who that someone is. Kyori is a bit of a mischievous character; She enjoys playing pranks on people and defacing certain properties just for her own laughs. Sometimes she does these things to teach people a lesson, but she usually doesn't care enough for that to be the case. Kyori has no interest in getting close to people. She'll make friends sometimes but she rarely ever sticks around to be friends with them long, and she'll usually take something from them before disappearing too. She tends to act a bit younger than she actually is, but she has a hidden maturity that goes far beyond her age. Kyori is a "wherever the wind blows" free spirit kind of person that despises the idea of being in one place for too long. She tends to be a bit of a nomad, moving around quite often, sometimes back to places she's enjoyed before, but those tend to be few as she often makes a lot of enemies in places she's traveled to because of her stealing. She'll often be found sitting on her own in a secluded area thinking about a variety of things including philosophy, her self and experiences, how she's going to make it through the next week, the people she's met (and stolen from) recently and whatever else that happens to be floating around in her mind at the time.
Weapon(s)/ Abilities: She caries a simple knife for protection when needed, but it's her speed and agility that really help her get out of a pinch. Kyori would be more than interested to try out whatever weapon she could get her hands on, though.
Strengths: Kyori is very quick (speedy) and agile, she tends to come up with rather clever ideas and is very strongly opinionated about her personal beliefs and her will to fight for them. She isn't often easily fooled as she is usually the one fooling others.
Weaknesses: Kyori lacks a lot of brute strength as she doesn't really like getting into any fights (in such situation she would rely on her speed and perhaps a weapon if need be). She has a very strong mind, but she may become rather upset when her personal beliefs are compromised in some way. Part of why she never stays in one place for a long time is because of a hidden fear of abandonment if she were to get close to someone.
