Ah, the life of a working girl. Kida swung a heavy tray over a group of giggling teenage girls who were squealing loudly over the adorable mini cakes. They weren't the only ones. The cafe was filled to the brim with people trying to purchase coffee, tea or sweets. And somehow she was supposed to get through the crowd.
The odd-job was simple. Advertise. Kida could do that, right? The cafe didn't need her on a schedule, they just called when they thought they could use her for a day. Well, today had been different. Instead of standing outside in a uniform and inviting potential customers in to try something Kida had gotten stuck helping the ditzy server clean up. Why the cafe only had one girl on staff to clean the tables, she didn't know. What Kida did know was that this wasn't in her job discription.
Then again, there were so many people inside the cafe at this point, they probably didn't WANT anyone else being invited in. The people were not only everywhere, they were noisy, they were obnoxious and they dared squeal over her pitiful excuse of a uniform. Kida could knock their head off.
And she was just getting the urge to in fact, to an idiotic over weight woman who seemed to think she needed to order yet another strawberry shortcake and that she didn't need to move out of Kida's way. That's when she heard it above all the noise.
"Wha'da you mean you don't sell rum here?!"
There was only one person Kida knew that would say such a thing that loud. Without hesitation Kida changed her course to the direction of the voice and pushed her way through to the drink counter. Normally used for overpriced and over milked coffees, but in this case, was being probed for liquor.

"I saw you serve those colorful drinks everywhere and you dare say, to me, that you don't have rum?! What kind of fuckinc place it this?!" Odessa ranted loudly to the girl behind the counter when she told her that the place didn't server anything alcoholic, let alone rum.
BLASPHEMY!
Odessa was trying to find her way back to Fijion after visiting Takato and Kisa in Sougen when she gotten lost. Her navigation skills out on the sea was almost unmatched but when it came to terrestrial navigation, Odessa couldn't cope with it. When she saw the steaming smoke towers of Evnae, Odessa made her way towards it in hopes to get some information as how to get to her home island and, perhaps, a drink. She hasn't had a single shot of rum since she left Sougen days ago and Odessa was irritated.
The pirate made her way through the hazy undercity of Evnae but managed to find herself into the cozy uppercity where classy upperclass people lived. Odessa made a mad dash to the nearest place that served drinks and demanded for her precious rum and this shitty dressed barmaid came to her telling her they had none.
"If I don't get my rum in this very second, I'll make sure that this place get blown into the fucking ground, got it?! Odessa screamed at the person behind the counter punching her fist down on the wooden surface.

"Yo, Odessa, chill." Kida hefted the tray onto the counter to let the girl deal with it. She didn't wish Odessa on those who weren't used to her anyway. "There's a liquor store around the corner. Take a look at his place. This is the sweets-and-tea type of joint." Kida snickered.
"Long time no see, chick. High and dry already?" Come to think of it Kida hadn't seen Odessa in...A really long time. It had to be if Kida couldn't even remember. Well shit. "My shift should be--blessedly and thankfully--over soon so I can change and carry you there if you need." And carry her, she might have to. Odessa and rum was a lot like someone addicted to coffee. Only worse since it was Odessa and her tolerance of obsticles was already low.

"Who the fucking hell said chill?!" Odessa didn't even look, her hand automatically grabbed the collar of the person who said that so that she could punch her. She didn't even know that someone knew her around these parts. Odessa was infamous on water, sure, but definitely not here. Her fist stopped merely inches from Kida's face.
"Who are you again?" Odessa asked scowling. Her mind is in a fog without the alcohol in her system. The woman looked familiar but she couldn't put a name on the face.

A noise that could not be classified in any other way escaped Kida's mouth as she was tugged forward. She was incredibly thankful when Odessa stopped short. She knew the pirate, that punch was no joke. The fact that Odessa didn't know her... She was kidding right? "You're kidding right?" Kida voiced her thoughts. "Odessa, it's me, Kida. Ya know...being chased by Takato. We've known each other for a long time. Had a memorable night in an Alien bar?"
Wow, apparently Kida needed to get some rum into this girl and ASAP. "Jill, I'm taking my break to stop a bomb hazard." Kida didn't even wait to hear the girl's objections and sputters. "C'mon, Odie, I'll take you to the rum." Hopefully that would get her to follow.

...huh?
Her puzzlement didn't last long because as soon as the other woman said rum, Odessa followed suit, not caring if she haphazardly ran into girls that were enjoying their tea and sweets. When she has finally caught up, Odessa gruffly said, "Yer name rings a bell, Missy. I might remember you when I get might rum."
Surely, Alien Bar sounded familiar too. It was the only decent bar in that school Takato attended some years ago. She must be an ex-girlfriend or someone of the like but, then again, that is quite impossible considering she just met a very single and virgin Takato in Sougen. Must be just a friend then...
...she really needed her rum.

"Uh....yeah. This way." Kida lead Odessa through the crowd and out of the cafe. As soon as they were clear the smog of Evae almost choked her. She paused for only a section to cough and have her eyes water. Afterward she turned down the street and marched right to the liquor store. There, she promptly walked in, straight to the section of rum and opened a bottle, offering it to Odessa.
Behind the counter a store clerk started shouting at them. "Oh, shut up! I'm going to pay for the damn thing!"

Odessa's eyes widened and she swiped the open bottle from Kida. Oh, sweet rum! The pirate gulped the heavenly liquid as much as she could in one go but the storekeeper's yapping was disturbing her high. Odessa kept drinking and drinking and the guy kept yapping and yapping. The pirate downed the fairly small bottle of rum and threw the empty bottle and pegged the storekeeper on the head.
"Shut. the fuck. up!" Odessa stressed each word in a shriek and panted, catching her breath after downing a whole bottle. The throw felt satisfying, no one disturbed her when she was drinking rum. No one. At this point, she wouldn't care of the guy was all bloody on the floor.
She turned to Kida with a grin and held out a hand, "Fancy meeting you here, Kida. I'm feel normal now, thanks much!"

Kida watched wide eyed. Apparently now she might also have to pay a medical bill. Maybe the cafe could use her on a full time basis. "I don't think that was necessary..." With a glass bottle the man could even be dead if Odessa had thrown the bottle hard enough. "You're welcome."
Although Kida was dying to say something about how she should quit the stuff altogether. Maybe the pirate just needed some good hard-core sobering. Maybe her comparison to coffee wasn't accurate, maybe it was more like heroin or crack. Or just rum.
"Why are you here, anyway? Shouldn't you be, I dunno, sailing around on water right now?" Wasn't that the reason they hadn't seen each other in so long?
