Thump, Thump, Thump.
Jean’s footsteps can be heard as he ran to the Penang Port. This was a code red mission, which means it was the most dangerous, and there was a possibility that civilians were in danger. Jean had got a suspicious call from someone that had said that there was an explosive device onboard a cruiser ship. Worried at how grave the situation can be he hurried to the scene before the boat could have the chance to leave the docks.
There was a chance that he wouldn’t be able to disarm the device right away, let alone he didn’t want the passengers to start panicking, as that wouldn’t help matters. He wanted people to be as calm as they could be. So in all reality Jean had to be quick, but not stir up panic. In cases like this those that are responsible for placing an explosive device of any kind are usually looking for ransom of some kind. But Jean was prepared for anything, despite feeling like his heart was in his throat.
Mitsuko and Eve were with him. As much as he didn’t want to take the angel with him, he knew with her presence it would help calm the passengers if they did end up getting emotional as well as sick. So he had no choice but to ask Mitsuko for her assistance. Jean also found out how many passengers were onboard and once he got the number, he then found out how much time they have to disarm the explosive. 1 hour.
Jean turned to the two women that had came to help and looked at them with a seriousness in his eyes.
“We only have one hour. We all need to work together, and Eve please doesn’t stray or get distracted by anything. The details of who put this explosive on this boat was by one of the bandits, by getting revenge on us by always busting them. So to get back at us they planted this explosive thinking that once the boat pulls away, we would have no option of disarming it, and it would be too late. That suspicious call that you heard was probably done on purpose to tease us.”
“But they fail to realize that this isn’t grade school. We aren’t two or three to be playing teasing games., especially when it involves innocent people.”
Jean, Mitsuko, and Eve quickly boarded the boat, and split up. Jean went to where the explosive was and Mitsuko and Eve went to help the passengers in calming them down and just explained to them that it was a routine emergency. Mitsuko and Eve didn’t want to lie, but the goal here is to save their lives, and not to make them panic. Jean had to check and make sure that this was real, and this wasn’t a scare tactic.
The chief saw at the back of the ship that there was a device with a timer on it, but the device wasn’t that easy to spot in the first place, which is why it was smuggled on board the boat without incident. It was in the shape of a music box. With situations like this you have to be quick but careful at the same time. One wrong move and Jean could end up cutting the wrong wire, and that would set the whole explosive off, and he definitely didn’t want that to happen.
“Okay, first thing I need to do is get inside the music box, open up and find how the wires are connected, but I need my knife to do this, and run it along the edge of the cover of the music box. If I find the knife is resisting and not moving with ease then I have to stop moving the knife, and quickly find a way to disarm this thing safely.”

Eve looked over at Mitsuko who was with the passengers. The bounty hunter was pissed off at this trick that the bandits had pulled. Are they that ruthless that they would attempt in killing innocent people? Much less women and children? She couldn’t help but hold onto Mitsuko’s hand as a form of them comforting each other since they both were scared, but they had to do what was the right thing and that was assist Jean.
Little did they know that the one of the bandits was still on board, and he was just minutes away of unleashing mace so that it would be hard for anyone to breathe and to distract Jean from disarming the device.
“Miki… Something is wrong here I feel something.. is about to happen! Oh my god1”
psssssssh! The sound of the mace spray filled the air and uncontrollable coughing had ensued.
Eve reached for her radio and contacted Jean even though she was coughing and gasping for breath as she spoke.
Chief someone just sprayed mace where Miki and I are with the passengers, it’s a little hard to breathe and to see, but I’m going to get Mitsuko to see if she can stabilize it with her power. If anything call for back up!

Right when Eve told the chief this, Mitsuko used her power to stabilize the un breathable atmosphere, in order to prevent them from passing out due to the lack of air. Her power enveloped the whole area and not once did she lose her concentration.
“Eve.. if you start panicking then it will transcend to the passengers. We need to keep calm as possible, if there is any panic then dad will get nervous too. Everything is going to be okay, we are all going to come out of this alive, and don’t worry my power should keep things balanced.
The angel was scared on the inside, but she knew that her priority was the well being of the innocent people on board. There were even some children as well and they even surrounded Mitsuko in hopes that this angel will keep them safe, which she was. There were even questions as to why they weren’t evacuating and the angel explained that there isn’t enough time, and they weren’t sure if there were any dangers outside of the ship, for now it was safer for everyone to stay together.
To calm the children the angel started to tell them a story from her story books, to try and get them away from the fear that they were experiencing. Eve was now on her guard in the background just in case the bandit chose to do another one of his mace attacks.
She was also keeping an eye on Mitsuko. If the bandit knew what Mitsuko was, then there could also be a possibility that she could be put in even more danger, so Eve wanted to make up for last time when she didn’t protect her well last year from when she got hurt by her dad. This was Eve’s chance to set things right.

Milly was never really one for going boating, but the idea of going out on the harbour to watch the sunset was one romantically sweet idea that always stuck in her head. She told Duo that she wanted to do that, trying to downplay the romanticism of such activities as she still only met him a couple of days ago. They had been at the nearby healing center since their big gunfight and Duo was almost fully healed and ready to go.
To sort of celebrate him being able to leave, Milly had suggested the idea earlier in the day. They got their tickets after lunch and, when the time came, Milly headed over first because Rika had requested to check Duo's wounds one last time before she would let him leave. Milly headed onto the boat well before the time it would leave the port to save a place for her and Duo while he was having his final checkup finished.
As the time for the boat to leave neared, Milly began to get a little nervous over whether Duo would make it on time or not. She began to wonder if she should exit the boat just in case so that he wouldn't be left behind. As she was thinking this, three people headed onto the boat seeming to be in a bit of a rush. She noticed the guy head off into another area while the two girls stayed behind with the main group of passengers attempting to explain their reason for being here.
Not buying that it was just something simply 'routine', Milly's eyes turned into a glare and she quickly began to scan the crowd from where she sat, wondering if they were here for a criminal. Milly spotted a guy on the opposite side of the room from her as he released a form of mace into the area. Her eyes opened wide and her hands immediately delved into her purse for a pair of goggles, and her gun. She put on the goggles and hid the gun close to her body. She took in and held a deep breath before the air around her was unbreathable. Then, she carefully made her way around the crowd towards the criminal as she saw him trying to back out of the room.
Managing to come up just behind the criminal as he was about to make his escape, Milly pressed her gun against his back and grabbed onto his shoulder. "Make one move I don't tell you to and you're dead." She whispered into his ear after noticing the air had been cleared somehow. She glanced around the room for a moment to see if anyone appeared to be with him. "Is anyone else here with you?" She asked him, to which he shook his head no.
"Come with me and don't you dare try anything funny or I WILL kill you." She instructed quietly in his ear then pushed him forward with her gun and hand, making sure not to move either from his body. She used his body to hide her gun from scaring the other passengers as she made her way around the two girls that were busy with the other passengers.
She lead the criminal towards the girl that seemed to be more on the lookout. "I caught one of the problems." She said to the girl with a serious expression. "He claims that he's the only one still on this boat."
"I am trained military personnel. My name is Milly. Is there anything else I can help you guys with?" She asked the girl, still making sure to keep the guy there with a gun to his back so he could not escape. She did not own handcuffs, however, so there was the possibility that he might try to escape despite her warning of killing him should he try anything.

Jean got Eve’s radio call but he couldn’t answer it right away since he had to keep focus, on the task at hand which was to disarm the explosive. With one hand he took out his pocket knife and with its blade he started to open the music box slowly. So far there was no resistance, and he was able to continue with ease.
Jean however started to sweat just a little because he was nervous, but he had to remain calm and not panic. Once he felt like he could get a chance to, he used his cell phone to call Eve, considering his cell phone had an earpiece, and it was a much safer option then pressing a button on his radio.
Thus his cell phone was on hands free mode, and attached to the side of his pants and he communicated with Eve using the earpiece.
“Eve, stay calm okay? Stay calm. If this does seem too dangerous I will call for backup but so far I’m doing okay, the only thing I am concerned about this device is the wires once I get to it. I’ll have to choose carefully about which wire to cut, as if I cut the wrong one, we’ll be dead before the time is up, and I don’t plan on dying before my time, much less put innocent lives at risk.”
If you know someone that can help me with this stage I would appreciate it. See if there are any passengers on board that are familiar with explosives. It might be impossible to find a person well versed in this, but try for me okay? If there is another mace attack, again don’t panic. The effects of mace are temporary, but let’s say some passengers were sprayed directly in their eyes, you can counter it with water.”
“But I repeat don’t panic. It can make the effects of it worse especially when you have been sprayed. It’s best to remain calm. I do recommend after we take care of this situation, we get all the passengers checked out by a doctor or by Miki, especially if they still have irritation. After all Mace is considered an irritant.”
“I’ll call you back Eve to give you an update. If you find someone who can help send them to where I am.”
He then hung up the phone and continued on to get the situation under control. Though deep inside, and behind his courageous attitude, he hoped someone could assist him.

Eve listened to the chief intently, and when she heard a woman’s voice asking if there was anything she could do to help, Eve nodded her head.
“Since you are trained as a military personnel then is it safe to ask that you know how to handle explosives and which wires to cut? Come with me. My boss said was asking if I could find someone that could assist him with disarming the explosive.
Perhaps you can direct him. He’s on the first stage right now. He said he’s doing fine but has a concern when he gets to the wires. Chances are those wires will be intertwined with each other making it harder for him to decide which to cut and which not to touch.”
As Eve was giving Milly the run down about what was going on she of course was walking with her to where Jean was, because if they just stood around talking, nothing would get accomplished and the time will be wasted, so they needed to use every minute of it. Eve also noticed that Milly was keeping one of the bandits at bay to make sure that he doesn’t do anything that could make the situation worse.
“Milly was it? I am Eve, and chief I have brought someone that can help, and Milly I’ll take over with this bandit I’ll put him in handcuffs.!”

Milly stood in front of the other girl with a serious expression as she held the criminal as gunpoint still. When she was asked if she knows how to handle explosives in order to disable them, Milly nodded her head. Following the girl's order, Milly followed her into the room the guy had gone into.
"I have been through strict training to be able to disable bombs of numerous styles. I am confident that I can disable this one." She said, that serious expression still on her face as they entered the room where this girl's boss was.
Milly nodded again as her name was questioned, only now knowing the name of this girl to be Eve. She heard Eve tell her chief that she had found someone to assist him as they entered the room. Milly was wondering when this girl was going to cuff the criminal and was glad that she finally took him off her hands.
"After you cuff him, check his body to make sure there's nothing else dangerous hidden in his clothes." She said in an authoritative manner, standing tall as she passed the criminal over to Eve, not lowering her gun until he was handcuffed. After that, she put her gun back in her bag and walked over to where Eve's chief was trying to get inside a box to disarm the bomb.
She knelt next to him to get closer to the bomb he was trying to disable. "My name is Millicent Faye. I am the daughter of General Henry Faye of the Latvian army." She introduced herself in a serious manner as she tried to watch what he was doing and frowned. "If the bomb is made using a music box, opening it alone could trigger an explosion."
She reached into her purse and pulled out a few items that resembled doctors tools, like a scalpel, a flashlight, and locksmith tools like various pins and picks. Without looking at which she was holding, because she knew by the feel of them which was which, Milly pulled up the flashlight in one hand and the scalpel in the other.
"Allow me." She requested as she leaned closer to the music box and turned on the flashlight. She gently wedged the scalpel into the opening near where his knife was and pointed the flashlight inside.
Because Milly always loved cute things, she had many different music boxes over the years. She has also been taught how to deal with those kinds of bombs as they were very common one year with a mass murderer of children that terrorized their capital a number of years ago. He had given music box bombs to children and set it so that it would go off once they opened it. To prevent it from blowing up in the street, he would give it to them in a box and tell the children only to open it once they got home.
Milly knew very well from all of that how to detect if something was amiss inside of a music box bomb. Milly paused for a moment as her eyes caught the anomaly. There was a small string attached to the dancer in the middle. When the box is opened and the dancer rises and twirls, the string would be pulled taught and the pressure of that pulled string would detonate the bomb.
Milly lowered her flashlight for a moment to pick up a pair of tweezers from her small pile of tools, holding both items now in that hand. She gently squeezed the tweezers inside and clamped them tightly onto the string. After that, she moved her scalpel in a bit further and cut the string above the tweezers. She then gently removed the tweezers, keeping the scalpel there as a wedge and continued looking inside the music box with her flashlight.
Not detecting anything else, she took a deep breath and quietly released it. She slowly began to open the music box, carefully searching it as she did so for any other traps. She then carefully pressed her scalpel into the fabric covering the inside mechanisms and carefully cut out a rectangle shape.
She levered the fabric out and looked at part of the bomb she had uncovered. She took in and released another quiet, deep breath as she examined it. She looked over which wires were attached to which ports, knowing full well that a criminal can switch the coloured wires around to confuse amateurs.
When she detected the right wire to disable the bomb, Milly carefully prodded it out with her tweezers and pulled it just slightly above the other wires. She carefully moved her scalpel under that wire then put her flashlight and tweezers back on the ground. She placed her hand on the box, holding it down steadily as, in one swift movement, she cut the wire.
Despite her knowledge and experience, the fact that nothing bad happened after she cut it still caused her to release a quiet sigh of relief. She then proceeded to carefully cut out the rest of the fabric to inspect the rest of the bomb just to be sure. When she removed all of the fabric covering, she was glad to see the ceased timer.
"It can still detonate if disabled improperly." Milly explained, "but the threat is over for now." She looked over at the chief with a serious expression on her face. It almost looked like she was a girl who never smiled. Despite that not being true, she tended to be more serious than relaxed, especially during and right after strenuous circumstances.
"I can disable it properly so that the explosive powder can be removed safely." She then searched through her bag again, pulling out a small pencil case. When she opened it, however, there were a few small tools like a screwdriver. "Just give me a moment and I can remove it." She requested as she carefully began to unscrew the bolts along the sides of the bomb.
She slowly pulled the metal covering off, careful not to accidentally trip anything inside. After placing the metal covering on the floor, she looked inside again. There were two sacks filled with a kind of explosive powder attached to miniature jumper cables. Milly placed the screwdriver down and carefully moved her hands in to take hold of the jumper cables. Both of them at the same time.
She took in a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment then opened then as she released that breath and carefully removed the cables. After that, she slowly pulled out the sacks, making sure not to let them touch potentially exposed electrical units. One by one, she put the packs on the ground in front of her, keeping her eyes on the bomb at all times. When she was sure that was all, she let out another quiet sigh.
"It's done." She said then packed her tools up and placed them all back in her bag. She then picked up the two sacks of explosive powder and stood up, expecting that he would automatically stand with her at that. She turned to him again and held the packs out towards him. "I don't know what you might do with these, but I have no use for explosives." She said calmly and in her serious manner.

Jean was impressed by this woman’s quick thinking and training and while he was impressed, this wasn’t the time to lower his guard but he did thank her for the help she provided.
It was also obvious that her skills would be invaluable to the bounty hunting team. But deep down Jean knew that this wasn’t the time to recruit more people, the task at hand after all was making sure that these explosives were disposed properly and no accidents happened.
The chief kept his serious expression but it was gentle at the same time as he looked at Milly, and listened as she said that she has no use for explosives.
“Neither do we. But we do have to dispose of it, which will be my responsibility, and one way we can do this is by burning the whole thing. We can’t throw it into the water since that is a big no no. But leave the disposing of it to me, since we have no use for it. And then after that we will take this bandit and his friends in custody.”
www.hse.gov.uk/explosives/disposal.htm
Eve searched the bandit and nothing dangerous was found. Jean then quickly left the boat and disposed of the bomb safely and then came back on the boat, and checked on his daughter who was now healing people that needed it.
“Miki be careful you don’t drain yourself, the last thing I need is for you fainting and then having to explain to Zero why you are out like a light.”

The angel was drained but she had to do what she could for people on board the boat. She could become so stubborn like Zero, but when she had to do the right thing for innocent people none of that matters. Her personal feelings and wellbeing take a backseat and she puts people that were counting on her first.
Eve was also watching and at one point Mitsuko collapsed and because it worried Eve whenever Mitsuko collapsed she let it known and snapping her fingers at the same time:
“Holy SHIT! Chief! Chief! Woah woah woah!
Jean caught her just in time but he saw that she was still using her power, as much as he wanted her to stop using it, he couldn’t force her to stop it, all he could do was support her body.
The angel kept using that healing power of hers to purify the whole boat and when the whole boat was purified the angel lost consciousness for quite sometime. While that angel was strong spiritually and in her heart, physically she wasn’t strong at all, and that has always been a problem ever since she was a child with her getting sick often.
But because this was an emergency the angel knew that her power was a huge asset to this mission, the angel knew the right thing to do and that was to help all of these innocent people, which she did by purifying the boat from the mace.

As Jean headed out to dispose of the explosives, Milly also walked out into the main room after collecting all of her tools and putting them back in her bag. She still didn't see Duo arriving yet, so she headed over to the girl who had taken the criminal from her before.
Before being able to speak, Eve was freaking out about something. She looked in the direction Eve was looking to see the other girl that was with her fainting and Jean catching her. Milly turned to Eve with a quizzical expression. "What happened to her?" She asked in a mildly concerned tone, wondering if there was something else that happened in this main room when she was disarming the bomb.

Jean held onto Mitsuko gently and rested his chin on the top of her head in a concerning fatherly manner. He knew that if Zero finds out about this he wouldn’t be happy. The chief stayed quiet for a few moments after Milly asked what happened to Mitsuko.
“She used her power to purify this boat from all the mace. She knows not to do it but she is so selfless that she still does it anyway. And because it drained her she is now unconscious. I’m going to take her home in a bit. Right now we should get things sorted out here. Eve you have everything under control here?”
‘Miki… You should be more careful next time. You know you are so delicate that you can be in a bad state in a matter of minutes, just please proceed with caution whenever you use your abilities for anything that you do. Your life is your greatest treasure…’

"Thanks!! I'll see you soon in that Rio Nunez cafe if we stop by in Evnae~!!" Duo's voice is practically echoing as he stepped outside the Bone Healers, waving at the nurse inside until the glass-made double doors shuts itself tight automatically.
Facing back to the front, Duo flexed his once shotinjured arm, smiling to see it working well again. "And my respect for herbs increases." He narrated to himself, facing a flower plant that was planted at the sidewalks leading to the entrance of the healing center, and bowed at it. "My deepest gratitude, plants."
Being a man interested in innovation and technology, it feels nice to respect nature for a change, so all the while as he walked down the walkpath, he thanked every flower on the way. There's a huge smile on his face, Duo's in such a good mood, he even talks to the plants as he walked.
"So you see, I need to ask that girl out to this cafe, but I need to be extra stealthy so as to not let her know it's a date. Actually, earlier, she invited me to go ride a cruise boat~!" Duo giggled like a schoolgirl as he thought about it, if he didn't know it any better, he could even see it as a date with her.
"I'm so exciteeedd~!!" Balling up his hands into fists under his chin, Duo kind of skipped his way in excitement. Come to think of it, it'll be his first time on a boat, with a girl. "Ohhh I better find something to surprise her with before I get there.." His eyes immediately darted around the area for any stalls or shops selling flowers or chocolates, or even accessories. Girls love accerssories.
Completely forgetting when the boat is going to leave, Duo strayed off his path to the harbor just to find something to give her. He was completely unaware of whatever happens in that boat, much less paying attention to the time as he went on his merry way in search for gifts and flirting to some girl on the way.
It had well passed an hour till he finally woke up to his senses that he's definitely late for the boat ride and sped his way to the harbor in less than 10 seconds. It was then when he saw a familiar redheaded man entering the boat.
Duo stood there for a short while, trying to remember where he had seen the man, and then snapped his fingers, "Jean! The scary dude from the interrogation scene!" Satisfied that he remembered the man, Duo boarded up the ship, trying to catch up to the man, but when he followed Jean on the baot, the sight before him isn't very welcoming nor pleasant.
The moment he boarded in, he could see Mitsuko doing something, he couldn't tell what she's doing due to how far she's standing from him. Jean caught her when she looked like she's fainting, and Duo gasped at the sight. "Wait, what's going on here?" He looked around, asking the closest person standing next to him.
Before he could get an answer, Mitsuko suddenly fainted and Duo's eyes widened. He's within the crowd to see properly of what's happening, so he made his way through the pack of people and was about to walk towards Jean once he's out of the crowd, but that's when he saw Milly talking to another woman.
"Milly!" Duo immediately changed route and headed towards her. He was just about to ask her what happened when Jean explained something about the boat being purified from mace, why Mitsuko fainted and overall answering almost everything Duo was just about to ask.
"Um.." He held lips with two of his fingers as he looked around and then turned his attention back towards Milly. "So lemme try to guess here, uh.. The boat was maced somehow, so Miss Mitsuko neutralized it and--" Now he could see some guy with his hands in handcuffs, and Duo winced as he had certainly felt what's it like to be handcuffed like that. "--Shit, I missed a fight?"
Then he turned to face Jean, "And how do you exactly purify mace? I thought mace was spice..? And hi, by the way." And he casually waved at Jean before glancing at the angel in his arms. Duo bit his lower lip at the sight, "....That boy would not like to see this. Or knowing this." Knowing Zero, once he learns that Duo's on the same boat with a fainted Mitsuko, he would probably put all the blame on Duo first since he's an ex-suspect.
"Damn.. Hey, if you want, Jean, I could speed her out of here and bring her to the Bone Healers. It's really near from here and I could probably reach it in like 7 seconds." He offered with a worried frown, looking back towards the angel and then back to Jean. "I uh.. I can superspeed." He added lamely, pointing to his feet as he said so.
It does not occured to Duo that Milly was within earshot and he just admitted he could arrive on the boat in 7 seconds before. Now it's obvious he was loafing around before he reached here.

Mitsuko slowly began to come to and she slowly opened her eyes. It was blurry to see at first, but then as her vision became clearer she saw Duo, Milly, the bandit, Jean and Eve.,and that is when Duo had offered to take the angel to Bone Healers, she shook her head no though, and smiled.
“Thank you Duo but I am truly fine. As an angel I am able to do things that can help save people’s lives as well as making them feel better, health wise. While mace is a form of spice if sprayed into the air so openly it can make it hard for people to breathe, and can actually burn their eyes, and just make them overall uncomfortable. I had to do what I can, even if it meant me passing out for a while. I’m a registered nurse too so everything works out…”
Then the thought of Zero entered her mind.
While it was tempting not to mention this to him, she knew that she had to be honest with him, she knows how she feels when people are dishonest with her, and because she and Zero have a strong trust in each other there was practically no secrets between them.
Zero knew everything that goes on in Mitsuko’s life –Her joys, her pain; you name it he knew about it.
Truly the angel didn’t mind telling Zero everything he was her best friend as well as the love of her life, and keeping things from Zero will only make him upset. The angel will tell Zero about what happened but she will be mindful of HOW she tells him. The angel needs to figure out a way to word out things properly and then when she sits down with Zero and lets him know, she’ll be as calm as ever.
She then looked at Jean and Eve.
“I do have to tell Zero about this, and I do take responsibility for using my power but I had to. Zero will understand this and he knows what I have to do, he will not be pleased at the situation that I was in, but at the same time he will understand. The only way he’ll explode if I was ever killed or injured. Duo, and I’ll make sure you won’t get blamed. You didn’t do anything wrong okay?”
The angel slowly stood up from where she lay and began to make sure everything was back to normal.
“I say this is mission accomplished. No one is hurt dad.”

“Now now Duo I am not THAT scary, I am just like that when I have to be to get people to talk. But I do apologize if I did frighten you. But it seems like you are learning a lot as you work with Mitsuko.
Have you been enjoying community service so far? You are never to old to learn and to contribute to your community. I’ll be leaving in a few minutes though, I can sense that you have plans just like everyone who came out to have this boat ride, so I shall not keep you.”
“Let me know if you need any help with anything and I’ll be sure to assist you Miki I’m going to go, since everything is calmer. Oh yes Eve I do suggest that you hold out in questioning the witnesses because they are still shaken up by this. Make sure though you give them our number, so that they can come forward.”
“But if people decide to talk to you all on their own right away then let them talk. I doubt they can give us any useful information since this explosive was snuck on board and it looked like regular luggage, but let’s see what turns up. I’ll take this bandit under my custody now. Thank you again Milly for your help.”
Jean did have some things to take care of back at HQ as well as interrogate that bandit so he can document it. And get a confession out of him. Jean took the bandit under his custody and slowly exited the boat.

“You got it chief! I’ll stay with Miki and see what I can find out, if the witnesses do come forward, and the mace can should be dusted out for finger printing. That way we can make a positive identification. I’ll do what I can. I don ‘t think Miki will leave right away though, I mean look at those children they seem to be very scared still.”
Eve then began to put the mace can in a plastic bag, and even the weapons the bandit had on him.
“Wow what a heart stopping moment. I thought that was it for me haha.
